Jones (elbow) could begin throwing bullpen sessions in April and begin a rehab assignment by May, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Jones appears to be progressing well after undergoing Tommy John surgery last July, but a clearer timetable should become available once he starts pitching in a rehab assignment. Regardless, he likely won't be available until some point after the all-star break, but it's encouraging news to see everything going according to plan.
Fri Mar 27 201516:53Jones placed on 60-day disabled list Friday
Jones was placed on the 60-day disabled list Friday.
Jones is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, but remains a ways away from returning to the team. The move was made by the White Sox to open up a roster spot for Kyle Drabek, who the team claimed off waivers Friday.
Fri Mar 27 201513:29Jones (elbow) scheduled to throw bullpen session Wednesday
Jones (elbow) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, CSN Chicago's Dan Hayes reports.
Jones has been limited to long toss thus far, so Wednesday will mark a significant step in his progression. He's targeting a return around the All-Star break, but that may be a bit optimistic, given that he had Tommy John surgery in August.

Jones (elbow) continues to engage in long toss sessions and could throw a bullpen on flat ground soon, the White Sox's official site reports.
Jones said he feels some normal soreness after throwing, but he otherwise feels good as he attempts to return from Tommy John surgery he had in July. The team has not committed to a firm timeline for his rehab process, but the hope remains he can be back on the active roster sometime around the All-Star break.
Mon Mar 2 201515:17Jones (elbow) throwing from 120 feet
Jones (elbow) is throwing from 120 feet, and will throw from 150 feet and in bullpen sessions next, Doug Padilla of ESPN reports.
Jones appears to be progressing well, participating in soft toss on days that he's not throwing off flat ground. He underwent Tommy John surgery last July, so he likely won't return until midseason at the earliest. Even still, Jones believes he is able to throw at about 70 percent and believes his rehab has gone smoothly thus far.
Tue Feb 24 201511:54Jones (elbow) will toss from 120 feet next time he throws
Jones (elbow) will toss from 120 feet the next time he throws, MLB.com's Scott Merkin reports.
Jones has been throwing from 105 feet, most recently Tuesday morning. While he seems to be making good progress, Jones is still just seven months removed from undergoing Tommy John surgery. He's unlikely to pitch before August, if at all during the 2015 season.

Jones (elbow) has been throwing on flat ground from 105 feet without issue, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
While rehabbing from a May back procedure, Jones suffered a torn UCL and was forced to undergo Tommy John surgery in late July. He said Friday that he is feeling good and it appears as though he's inching closer to returning to elevated ground, but there is no set timetable for him to throw a bullpen session. An August return seems like a best-case scenario.
Thu Jan 15 201519:27Jones agreed to one-year
Jones agreed to a one-year, $660,000 contract with the White Sox on Thursday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Jones entered 2014 as one of the top candidates to close out games for the White Sox, but various issues including hip, back and elbow sent him to the disabled list, and he wound up undergoing Tommy John surgery in late July. He will miss a good portion if not all of 2015.
Wed Jul 30 201416:40Nate Jones: Underwent Tommy John Surgery
Jones (back, elbow) underwent Tommy John surgery Tuesday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
A top candidate to close for the White Sox coming into the year, Jones made just two appearances before a back issue forced him onto the shelf. He then underwent disc surgery in May, with the expectation being that he could return in late July or early August, but Jones evidently tore his right UCL while rehabbing. Dr. James Andrews performed the reconstructive procedure Tuesday, and given the 12-18 month recovery window pitchers typically face, Jones' entire 2015 campaign could be in jeopardy.

Nate Jones underwent Tommy John surgery Tuesday.
Jones had been out since the first week of the season because of a lower back injury and apparently tore his UCL while rehabbing. The 28-year-old right-handed reliever will be sidelined for the majority of 2015.

Sat Jul 26 201418:03Nate Jones (back) may not return this year
Nate Jones (back) might not return in 2014.
Jones has been out since the first week of the season with a lower back injury. "There's been enough setbacks that I wouldn't expect him to be back this year," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said Saturday. The 28-year-old right-hander might have run away with Chicago's ninth-inning job if his health cooperated.

Fri Jun 20 201409:05Nate Jones running sprints, long-tossing
Nate Jones (back) has been running sprints up to 120 feet and long-tossing at 140-150 feet.
Making his way back from a microdiscectomy, Jones thinks he might return in "late July or August" but admits that it's "a complete guess" on his part. "I feel like we're getting closer, that's for sure,'' Jones said. "But no date has been set. It's all on how my body reacts."

Wed Jun 11 201409:27Nate Jones (back) has 'a long ways to go'
Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times writes that Nate Jones (back) has a "long ways to go to get back to full health."
Jones resumed throwing on Monday -- just over a month after undergoing a microdiscectomy -- but isn't close to rejoining the White Sox' bullpen. "At the beginning, it was a little rough,'' Jones said Tuesday. "I had what I would call bad days when I couldn't even put on my socks. We're still taking it day by day. Go out there and do the stretching and tossing, do a little activity and see how it reacts the next day and go from there." Those that have been stashing Jones as a potential closer option can probably go ahead and cut him loose in a redraft league.

Mon Jun 9 201418:09Nate Jones (back) plays catch Monday
Nate Jones (back) played catch from about 60 feet Monday.
It's the first time he's thrown since he underwent a microdiscectomy in early May. Jones was shut down for five weeks, so it will take him a while to get built back up. Don't count on the reliever rejoining the White Sox' bullpen before the end of the first half.

Mon May 5 201420:53Nate Jones undergoes back surgery
Nate Jones underwent a successful microdiscectomy procedure on Monday.
Jones aggravated a back injury early on this season that he originally suffered in spring training. He'll be re-evaluated in a month. "After a month, it's conceivable we'll ramp up baseball activities and he can return soon thereafter as tolerated by the baseball activities," White Sox general manager Rick Hahn said. "At that point, it's more about getting him into pitching shape than dealing with the back. We'll see in a month and come up with a timeframe then."

Nate Jones had surgery for his lower back injury.

Sat May 3 201414:49White Sox shift RHP Jones to 60-day DL
White Sox transferred RHP Nate Jones from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.
Jones certainly hasn't progressed as hope from his back/glute/whatever-the-heck-is-going-on-down-there problem. He still might figure into the White Sox's closer picture later this season, but it definitely won't happen during the month of May.

Mon Apr 28 201421:59Nate Jones still not ready for activities
Nate Jones (back) has yet to resume baseball activities.
White Sox manager Robin Ventura indicated 10 days ago that Jones' back injury is a little worse than the team originally thought, and that's becoming clearer by the day. There's obviously no timeable for the reliever's return.

Fri Apr 18 201418:01Nate Jones (back) not progressing as hoped
White Sox manager Robin Ventura indicated Friday that Nate Jones' back injury is a little worse than the team originally thought.
Ventura offered no timetable for when Jones might be allowed to resume throwing, but it doesn't sound like it will be anytime soon. It's obviously not encouraging news, but those stashing Jones in their DL spot should keep doing so as long as they have room.
