Tue Apr 8 201409:49Astros 1B prospect Singleton back in form
Astros prospect first baseman Jonathan Singleton is hitting .263/.417/.526 through five games in his return to Triple-A.
Singleton had a lost season in 2013, struggling to a .230/.351/.401 line after missing the first 50 games after a second positive test for a "drug of abuse". He looked better in spring training, and could be called up to Houston before the all-star break. He could be an impact player, hitting .280 with 20+ home runs and lots of walks. Monitor his performance closely, as he will push Mark Krauss out of the way when he is ready.

Wed Dec 11 201318:59Porter: Singleton will have shot to win a job
Astros manager Bo Porter said Jonathan Singleton will have a chance to win a spot with the team in spring training.
Singleton had a monster showing in the Puerto Rican Winter League, leading the league in home runs, total bases and OPS. The 22-year-old also missed 50 games this past season due to violating the league's substance abuse policy. He may not be the team's starting first baseman right out of the gate, but it sounds like he'll be given a legitimate shot to make the team.
