Mon Feb 20 202314:36Miguel Vargas Has Hairline Fracture In Right Pinky
Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Miguel Vargas (finger) reportedly has a hairline fracture in his right pinky finger, according to a tweet from The Orange County Register's Bill Plunkett on Monday. Per Plunkett's tweet, the infielder "took a ground ball off the pinkie on his right hand." Plunkett also noted in his tweet that "Activity will be limited for Vargas." and that the 23-year-old "Won't swing for a few days. Then 'Per tolerance.'" Vargas hit .170 with a .200 on-base percentage, a home run, and a stolen base in 50 plate appearances at the Major League level this past season. He also hit .304 with a .404 on-base percentage, 17 home runs, and 16 stolen bases in 520 plate appearances for Los Angeles' Triple-A affiliate. Capable of playing first base, second base, third base, and left field, Vargas could be in for an expanded role this coming season with the Dodgers.

Mon Jan 30 202320:29Miguel Vargas Has A Chance To Start At Second Base
Los Angeles Dodgers general manager Andrew Friedman said that if he had to guess now, he sees Max Muncy at third base, Gavin Lux at shortstop, Miguel Vargas at second base and Chris Taylor in the outfield, with Miguel Rojas serving in a utility-infield role. The Dodgers have plenty of defensive versatility and competition heading into spring training, though, so nothing will be guaranteed for Vargas. The 23-year-old made his big-league debut in 2022 and went just 8-for-47 with a homer, eight RBI, four runs scored and a stolen base in 18 games. But with Trea Turner and Justin Turner both gone, Vargas will have plenty of opportunity for consistent playing time in what is still one of the best lineups in baseball. Fantasy managers in deeper leagues shouldn't forget about Vargas.

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Miguel Vargas was included on the team's roster for their National League Division Series matchup with the San Diego Padres. He previously hit .304 with a .404 on-base percentage, 17 home runs, and 16 stolen bases in 520 plate appearances for Los Angeles' Triple-A affiliate this season. Capable of playing third base, first base, and left field, Vargas should provide the Dodgers with plenty of versatility off the bench against San Diego.
