Fri May 13 201122:48Teahen (oblique) to rest for two days
Mark Teahen (oblique) will rest for two days before the White Sox make a decision about whether to place him on the disabled list.
"If the next two days he isn't ready, we have to do something about it," said White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen. "But I'd rather wait to see if I have to make a move than to wait 15 days to get him back. But I'm going to [play it by ear], but the decision is to not to any baseball activity for a few days." Teahen was pulled from Wednesday's game in the seventh inning with a mild right oblique strain. Omar Vizquel got the start at third base over the struggling Brent Morel on Friday night.

Thu Mar 24 201116:41Teahen to serve as utilityman this year

Brent Morel was named the club's starting third baseman on Thursday afternoon. Teahen will also get some looks at the hot corner, but only on a part-time basis. He can also play the outfield.

Mon Mar 14 201122:21White Sox open to trading Teahen
According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the White Sox would rather trade Mark Teahen rather than make him a high-priced utility man.
White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen still thinks he could find 350 at-bats for Teahen if Brent Morel wins the starting job at third base, but the 29-year-old is still owed $4.75 million this season and $5.5 million in 2012. That's an expensive guy to have on your bench. Any trade would be a tough sell, because while Teahen has played multiple positions in the past, he's considered a defensive liability.

Sat Mar 12 201109:21Teahen has made four throwing errors
Mark Teahen has made four throwing errors in five Cactus League games thus far.
``You just go through the whatevers of getting your arm where you want it coming into spring,'' said Teahen. ``I've had a few off-balance plays where I haven't made the perfect throw I wanted to make. It's early; it's spring. At the same time, it's important because I am battling for a spot.'' Whatever shortcomings he's had in the field, Teahen has made up for them with his bat, hitting .529 (9-for-17). Brent Morel is batting .143 (3-for-21) so far but is a vastly superior defender. The battle for the White Sox' starting job at third base is neck and neck right now, but manager Ozzie Guillen has said he'd like to have a decision soon.

Thu Mar 10 201118:23Teahen continues torrid spring
Mark Teahen continued his torrid spring Thursday, going 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and a double in a 7-6 win over the Rangers.
Teahen is now hitting a robust .529 over his first 17 spring at-bats. He might need to keep it up in order to hold off Brent Morel for the third base job. Morel so far is hitting just .176 over 17 at-bats, but he has a big edge over Teahen defensively.

Mon Mar 7 201118:58Teahen has huge day
Mark Teahen went 2-for-3 against the Indians on Monday, driving in three runs while scoring three times.
He also walked twice. Fighting with Brent Morel for Chicago's starting third base job, Teahen is hitting .400 through his first 10 at-bats this spring. Morel, meanwhile, is batting .273. Teahen can't afford to give away any at-bats this exhibition season.

Fri Feb 25 201120:36Teahen to miss a few days of camp
Mark Teahen will be away from White Sox camp for a few days while he deals with a family health matter.
Manager Ozzie Guillen said Teahen's brief absence won't affect his battle with Brent Morel for the third base job. "I talked to him, and what are you going to miss, a game? Don't worry about it," Guillen said. "And besides that, when you're on the field and thinking about something else, you might bring it onto the field and that won't help you. Make sure you take care of what you need to take care of and come back here and we'll help you."

Mon Feb 21 201116:56Guillen hopes to decide on 3B quickly
White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen siad that he hopes to make a decision about third base early on during spring training.
"My wish is that we make that decision quicker and make sure those guys know where they stand and what their roles are going to be," said Guillen. "If Morel doesn't make the team what is he going to do? We have to make that decision quick enough to give those guys a chance to do what they are supposed to do. I have to wait until the games start to see what happens." If rookie Brent Morel wrestles away the starting job at the hot corner, Mark Teahen would likely be asked to log some time in the outfield and at first base.

Wed Sep 22 201000:41White Sox's Teahen goes hitless in loss
Mark Teahen went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts before being removed for a pinch-hitter Tuesday against the A's.
Teahen is batting .189 with one RBI and a 12/2 K/BB ratio in 37 at-bats this month. White Sox GM Ken Williams has an excellent track record overall, but it's hard to see what he was thinking when he opted to trade for Teahen and then give him a three-year, $14 million deal last December.
Wed Aug 25 201009:33Teahen returns to lineup
Mark Teahen picked up two hits and a walk in four plate appearances Tuesday in his return to the lineup.
Teahen hadn't played since suffering a bruised right middle finger in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader. It's the same finger that he fractured earlier this season, which caused him to miss about 10 weeks of action. That's a concern, but it's encouraging that he fared well at the plate Tuesday.

Fri Aug 13 201015:36White Sox activate Teahen from DL
White Sox activated third baseman-outfielder Mark Teahen from the 15-day disabled list.
Teahen, who takes Dayan Viciedo's roster spot, will start in right field tonight, with Omar Vizquel playing third base. He should only have modest value in AL-only leagues.
Fri Aug 13 201009:01White Sox expected to activate Mark Teahen
The White Sox are expected to activate Mark Teahen (finger) from the disabled list before Friday's game against the Tigers.
The club sent struggling third baseman Dayan Viciedo back to the minor leagues after Thursday's game, opening up a spot on the roster. Teahen was batting .255/.340/.387 with three homers and 14 RBI over his first 137 at-bats this season before fracturing his right middle finger on May 30. As part of a lengthy rehab with Triple-A Charlotte, Teahen batted .364 with two doubles and four RBI over 33 at-bats. He's expected to return in a super-utility role.

Sun Aug 8 201015:54Teahen could use all 20 rehab days
Mark Teahen (finger) could use all of the allotted 20 days on his rehab assignment.
It had been previously reported that he could return as early as August 10, but he's only seven games into his rehab, so it doesn't look like that will happen. Teahen is hitting .421 over those seven contests, so he appears ready at the plate, but the White Sox want him to play several positions more since he will be used in a utility role when he returns.

Sun Aug 1 201008:56Teahen could be back with Sox on August 10
Mark Teahen (finger) could be back with the White Sox when the team returns from a road trip on August 10.
Teahen hasn't played since the end of May after fracturing a finger. He began his rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte Saturday and picked up three hits in four at-bats. When he does return to the roster, he will be used in a utility role, as Omar Vizquel is expected to continue to get most of the starts at third base, with Dayan Viciedo also being in the mix.

Mon Jul 26 201022:37Teahen cleared for baseball activities
Mark Teahen (finger) was cleared to participate in full baseball activities Monday.
"Basically, the X-rays looked good and the bone and joint are healed well," said Teahen. "I can do everything without risking hurting it again. I was able to throw a little bit and hit with two hands. It went better than I expected." Teahen has been sidelined since fracturing the tip of his right middle finger on May 30. He hopes to begin a minor league rehab assignment next week.

Sun Jul 25 201009:37Teahen to be cleared for activities Monday
Mark Teahen (finger) is expected to be cleared to resume full baseball activities Monday.
Teahen has been able to do some limited work so far, but he hopes to go all out starting Monday. He will work out with the team for several days before going out on a rehab assignment. Teahen will be used as a utilityman upon his return, which should come sometime in mid-August.

Wed Jul 21 201022:00Mark Teahen could be shifted to utility role
White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen suggested Wednesday that Mark Teahen (finger) could be relegated to a utility role once he returns from the DL.
"He might be a (designated hitter), play a little bit of outfield and a little bit of first base and third base," said Guillen. "I'm going to play him all over the place because I think Omar is playing pretty good. I don't think Omar (should) lose his job." Ozzie is talking about Omar Vizquel, of course, who has hit .351/.419/.378 in the month of July and is still one of the top defenders in the game. Teahen is probably about two weeks away.

Sat Jul 17 201010:00Teahen limited to one-handed swings
Mark Teahen (finger) has been relegated to one-handed swings in the batting cage as he tries to regain full motion of his surgically repaired finger.
Friday was the first time Teahen was allowed to bend the finger since he fractured it on May 30. The White Sox have been targeting a late July/early August return for their third baseman, but he'll obviously need to do a lot more than he's doing now before we can get serious about a possible return date.

Sun Jul 11 201010:08Teahen to have pins removed from finger
Mark Teahen will have the pins removed from his right middle finger Thursday.
"From there it's getting the strength and the movement back in the joint, then swinging and throwing, then probably a rehab stint and back in the lineup," he said. Teahen has been out since late May following surgery on the finger. He had been hoping to return right around the All-Star break, but it will be at least late July and maybe longer before we see him again. Dayan Viciedo and Omar Vizquel have been sharing third base in Teahen's absence, but Mark is likely to get his job back once he's ready.
