Sat Mar 3 201221:06Kurt Thomas (concussion) out Saturday
Kurt Thomas (concussion) will not be active for Saturday's game vs. the Wolves.
Portland at least has two of their veteran centers to throw at the Wolves, in Marcus Camby and Joel Przybilla. Thomas is subject to daily testing until he's completely free of concussion symptoms, but it sounds like he's very close.

Kurt Thomas (concussion) went through parts of Saturday's shootaround but his return is still questionable.

Thu Mar 1 201220:51Thomas (concussion) out Thursday; Joel in
Kurt Thomas (concussion) will not play on Thursday, but Joel Przybilla will make his Blazers debut.
Neither have fantasy value, but it will be nice to see Przybilla get a big hand from his old home crowd.

Sat Jan 14 201218:54Kurt Thomas, not Batum, starting for Blazers
Kurt Thomas will start at center for the Blazers on Saturday.
There was some speculation that Nicolas Batum would move into the starting lineup, but Nate McMillan has opted to start a more traditional lineup. Nevertheless, we expect Batum to play more off the bench while Thomas remains a negligible fantasy option.

Sat Jan 14 201200:48Thomas plays 16 minutes with Camby out
Kurt Thomas played 16 minutes with Marcus Camby (ankle) leaving Friday's game early, finishing with no points, three rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
Thomas appeared to be his primary replacement but didn't do much, obviously. He needs to prove he still has the ability to impact the stat sheet before we'll recommend an add here.

Thu Dec 22 201102:38Kurt Thomas starts at C for Blazers
Kurt Thomas started at center for the Blazers on Wednesday, as Marcus Camby sat out with a knee injury.
Camby will reportedly have an MRI on his left knee Thursday, so it's possible Thomas sees decent minutes early. He's not going to be worth owning in most leagues, but could be a fill-in if Camby is out for an extended period.

Sun Dec 11 201113:20Kurt Thomas signs w/ Blazers for two years
The Trail Blazers and veteran center Kurt Thomas have agreed on a two-year contract.
With Greg Oden's knees and Marcus Camby's general fragility, it was vital for Portland to add reliable depth in the middle. Thomas, the league's oldest player, will give them quality minutes without offering any fantasy value.

Mon Dec 5 201108:52Kurt Thomas to return to Chicago Bulls?
Kurt Thomas is a "strong candidate" to return to the Bulls next season.
Thomas has drawn pretty heavy interest around the league despite being the NBA's oldest player, but he showed he can still contribute last season with Chicago. There's thought to be mutual interest between the team and Thomas, and there seems to be a growing expectation that he'll return for the veteran's minimum. He started 37 contests for the team last season and averaged 5.2 points, 7.4 rebounds and a block per game.

Tue Nov 29 201107:27Kurt Thomas definitely on NY Knicks radar
The Knicks will look to sign free agent Kurt Thomas.
Thomas is the league's oldest player, but he's still proven to be productive. The team's interest has been long-standing, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him starting for New York as the club looks to fill its hole in the middle with a one-year contract. Thomas said he "loved" his time with the Knicks, but the Bulls are interested in re-signing him, and the Heat and Mavericks are also though to have some level of interest as well.

Wed Jun 29 201109:26Report: Knicks to go after Kurt Thomas
The Knicks will pursue free agent Kurt Thomas, a source tells the Daily News.
Despite being the NBA's oldest player at 38, Thomas says he wants to play one more season. He likely won't be retained by the Bulls after getting passed by Taj Gibson and Omer Asik in the rotation. On the Knicks, he'd serve as a low-post defender off the bench that could try to keep Amare Stoudemire out of foul trouble. Thomas spent seven years in New York earlier in his career.

Sat Apr 2 201120:11Thomas to start for injured Noah on Saturday
Kurt Thomas started for injured Joakim Noah (ankle) on Saturday against the Raptors.
You could do worse if you're looking for a spot-start, though the rebounding deficiencies of the Raptors aren't so bad when Andrea Bargnani is out of the lineup, as he is out for Saturday, too. Noah says that he will return Tuesday, so this is a one-game opportunity for Thomas.

Mon Mar 21 201119:54Thomas to fall out of rotation eventually
Kurt Thomas will eventually fall out of the rotation in favor of Taj Gibson, according to coach Tom Thibodeau's pregame comments from Monday.
He said that once both Carlos Boozer (ankle) and Gibson (toe), who are both playing tonight, are fully healthy that he is going to drop Thomas from the rotation, citing that he likes the pairing of Gibson with Omer Asik in the second unit. In any event, with Boozer back there isn't much to like about Gibson or Thomas, anyway.

Wed Mar 16 201101:34Thomas starts for ill Noah on Tuesday night
Kurt Thomas started for Joakim Noah (illness) in Tuesday's win over the Wizards, scoring eight points on 3-of-10 shooting with 15 rebounds, two assists, and two blocks in 37 minutes.
Should either Noah or Carlos Boozer (ankle) miss Thursday's game, then Thomas could be worth a look in a spot-start, but he only becomes a semi-decent option if both are out.

Sat Mar 12 201119:43Thomas to start for Boozer, not Taj Gibson
Kurt Thomas will start again for injured Carlos Boozer (ankle) on Saturday, and Taj Gibson will come off the bench.
Thomas had a good game last night with four points, 13 boards, and two blocks, while Gibson had just eight points and five boards, but either of them could be the fantasy winner tonight. If you recently added Gibson in hopes he would pick up Boozer's slack, this isn't the greatest news and you may want to look elsewhere for production.

Thu Feb 17 201123:12Kurt Thomas goes out quietly
Kurt Thomas was one-dimensional against the Spurs on Thursday, managing two points and nine rebounds in 24 minutes.
With Joakim Noah set to return next week, Thomas will likely have no value going forward.
Wed Feb 16 201100:28Kurt Thomas plays 1,000th NBA game
Kurt Thomas scored six points on 3-of-4 shooting with five rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block in 27 minutes.
It's a workman like effort like this that has characterized his NBA career, one which hit the 1,000-game mark tonight, to which we will honor with this blurb.
Tue Jan 25 201103:06Old man Kurt Thomas scores season-high 22
Kurt Thomas scored a season-high 22 points in the Bulls' 92-83 win over the Bucks on Monday, hitting 10-of-16 shots from the field with nine rebounds, five assists, one steal, and two blocks in 44 minutes.
It's the most points that he has scored since 2005, and no, we're not running to the wire to pick him up. He knew the Bucks' weaknesses and exploited them, and owners would be wise to use his six-point, seven-rebound, one-block, one-steal averages as a starter this season as their guide. The loser in Thomas' big night was Luol Deng, who scored just nine points on 3-of-8 shooting with reduced shot attempts.
