Wed Jul 24 201322:34Hefner proves homer prone in loss to Braves
Jeremy Hefner allowed six runs -- five earned -- in 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Braves on Wednesday.
Hefner was a victim of the long ball on Wednesday, serving up three home runs to Braves batters. It was the second straight poor outing for the right-hander since the All-Star break, as the Phillies lit him up for eight runs in two innings his last time out. He's probably not as good as the pitcher with a 3.33 ERA through 108 innings, but he's not as bad as these last two starts, either. He'll carry a 4.17 ERA into his start against the Marlins in Miami on Monday.

Fri Jun 21 201323:00Hefner goes six innings in win over Phillies
Jeremy Hefner surrendered three runs -- two earned -- over six innings Friday in a 4-3 win over the Phillies.

While the arrival of Zack Wheeler appeared to put his rotation spot into jeopardy, the injury to Jon Niese (shoulder) means that he'll be sticking around for a while longer. He makes for a solid option in NL-only leagues right now.

Sun Jun 16 201316:32Jeremy Hefner only lasts five vs. Cubs
Jeremy Hefner gave up three runs -- one earned -- over five frames in Sunday's 4-3 victory over the Cubs.
Hefner allowed three hits and a run in the first but settled in to pitch pretty decently after that. He allowed six hits and a walk while striking out five for the day and avoided falling to 1-7 when the Mets rallied in the ninth. Hefner now holds a solid 3.96 ERA and 1.21 WHIP for the season, but note that he's given up seven unearned runs over his last two outings. When the Mets go to five starters, he's probably the likeliest to get the boot. For now, though, he's in line to start on Friday in Philly.

Tue Jun 11 201322:13Defense hurts Jeremy Hefner Tuesday
Jeremy Hefner allowed six runs - one earned - over six innings in Tuesday's loss to the Cardinals.
He gave up eight hits, walked one and struck out two. Hefner's defense certainly didn't help him in this one, especially in the Cards' five-run fifth when Daniel Murphy made an error to start off the frame and David Wright booted a ball that should have been an inning-ending double play. Nevertheless, it's not as if Hefner pitched well, as he allowed St. Louis to take advantage of their opportunities. He'll take a 4.11 ERA and 1.26 WHIP into this weekend's outing against the Cubs.
