Sun Oct 27 201316:54Peyton Hillis racks up 23 touches again
Peyton Hillis rushed 20 times for 70 yards and caught three passes for 15 yards in Sunday's Week 8 win at Philadelphia.
Hillis didn't start, but he played well ahead of rookie Michael Cox once again. He's now touched the ball 23 times in two straight weeks, the kind of volume fantasy owners salivate over. However, the Giants will likely get both Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) and Andre Brown (leg) after their Week 9 bye. There's little reason to stash the plodding Hillis.

Fri Oct 25 201309:48Peyton Hillis ready to carry bigger load
Peyton Hillis said he's ready to carry a bigger load this week against the Eagles after he admitted to having "jello legs" last Monday night.
"I think it always takes a couple weeks to get back into shape when you're on the couch for five weeks," Hillis said. "I'm thinking that no matter what they ask me to do my body is going to be in a lot better shape than it was last week for sure." Hillis, 27, even said that he accepted his career was likely over four or five weeks ago and quit working out. Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) has yet to practice this week. It looks as if Hillis is going to be the bell-cow.

Tue Oct 22 201310:11Peyton Hillis admits to 'jello legs'
Peyton Hillis admitted to having "jello legs" on Monday night.
Just a week ago, Hillis was at home on his ranch in Tennessee and not even working out. On Monday, he touched the ball 23 times on 48 snaps and produced 81 of the ugliest yards you'll ever see. Hillis ran around the field like an elephant, unable to even move his hips and just plowing into defenders. He figures to be in a little better shape by Sunday's game against the Eagles, but Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) could be back. And with the bye in Week 9 followed by Andre Brown's (PUP, leg) likely return, there's only desperation waiver appeal here.

Mon Oct 21 201323:53G-Men get first win behind Hillis' 81 yds, TD
Peyton Hillis rushed for 36 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries in the Giants' Week 7, 23-7 win over the Vikings on Monday night.
Making his debut with the team just five days after signing, Hillis started and saw 23 touches. He caught five passes for and additional 45 yards on six targets out of the backfield. This was without question the single ugliest football game after seven weeks on the season. It felt like a preseason game with viewers just waiting for the game clock to hit zeros. Hillis looked terrible in the first half, but he got his legs under him after the break and was arguably the best offensive player on the field in this one. That's not an endorsement. It simply was just a brutal display of football. The Giants will look to get Brandon Jacobs back from a hamstring injury next week. If Jacobs can't go, Hillis will carry the load again in Week 8 against the Eagles. He's not a fantasy option.

Mon Oct 21 201312:27Peyton Hillis to be primary ball-carrier
ESPN New York expects Peyton Hillis to be the Giants' "primary ball carrier" in Monday night's game against the Vikings.
Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) is not expected to play and the Giants don't appear to trust raw seventh-round rookie Michael Cox. That leaves Hillis, who was just signed off the street Wednesday, to play the majority of snaps. We'd use him over Cox, but expecting much production is a pipe dream. Look for the Giants to go with a pass-heavy attack designed to exploit a Vikings secondary giving up 308.0 yards per game on the season.

Mon Oct 14 201320:15Giants to work out free agent Peyton Hillis
CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Giants will work out free agent RB Peyton Hillis.
Hillis spent the summer with the Bucs and made the team before being released ahead of Week 3. He rushed just 38 times for 147 yards (3.9 YPC) during the preseason against second- and third-stringers. The Giants need bodies in the backfield. Brandon Jacobs and Michael Cox are the only healthy backs on the roster. Hillis, 27, doesn't have a lot left in the tank.

Sat Sep 21 201312:51Bucs give up on Peyton Hillis after two games
Bucs released RB Peyton Hillis.
Hillis was active for Week 1 but didn't see the field. He was a healthy scratch last week. During the preseason, Hillis rushed 38 times for 147 yards (3.9 YPC) mainly against backups. He was No. 4 on the depth chart behind Doug Martin, Brian Leonard, and Mike James. Hillis' career may be coming to a close.

Sun Aug 25 201314:26Peyton Hillis plummets to Bucs No. 4 tailback
Peyton Hillis appears to have slid to No. 4 on Tampa Bay's tailback depth chart.
With Doug Martin (rest) sitting out Saturday night's third preseason game, Brian Leonard was the starter and rookie Mike James played directly behind him. Hillis was the No. 3 back through the rotation, and has managed 29 preseason carries for 114 yards (3.93 YPC) despite facing primarily second- and third-team defenders. Hillis will probably be trimmed at final cuts.

Fri Aug 9 201313:30Peyton Hillis suffers hyperextended knee
Bucs RB Peyton Hillis suffered a hyperextended left knee in Thursday night's preseason opener against Baltimore.
The injury is not believed to be season threatening, but will hurt Hillis' roster chances in his likely one-on-one battle with Brian Leonard for a job. Before exiting, Hillis rushed four times for 13 yards (3.3 YPC) with a fumble.

Tue Jul 23 201318:19Bucs to look at Hillis as RB & FB
The Bucs will look at Peyton Hillis as both a tailback and fullback.
Hillis was a lead blocker in front of Darren McFadden and Felix Jones at Arkansas. He's played primarily tailback in the pros. Hillis will likely battle Brian Leonard for one roster spot. Doug Martin still doesn't have a clear handcuff as Hillis, Leonard, Michael Smith, and Mike James all vie for the role.

Tue Jul 23 201317:30Report: Bucs & Peyton Hillis negotiating deal
Jenna Laine of Sports Talk Florida and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport both report the Bucs are in contract negotiations with free agent Peyton Hillis.
Hillis was in town, along with a host of other veteran free agents, on Tuesday to work out for the Bucs. Even if he does sign with Tampa Bay, Hillis will be far from a lock to make the 53-man roster. Hillis has battled a variety of injuries over the last two seasons, limiting him to just 246 carries. He's averaged 3.64 YPC over that span and looked genuinely washed up in K.C. last year.

Mon Jul 22 201319:20Report: Peyton Hillis to work out for Bucs
Jenna Laine of Sports Talk Florida reports the Bucs will work out free agent Peyton Hillis on Tuesday.
Hillis' career has gone downhill fast. Since appearing on the cover of Madden three seasons ago, Hillis has rushed for just 896 yards and four touchdowns on 246 carries. He's also missed nine games over that span. The Bucs are likely just doing their due diligence on the 27-year-old. Michael Smith, Mike James, and Brian Leonard are currently slotted in as Doug Martin's backups.

Fri Mar 15 201309:31Peyton Hillis, Packers rumors were false
The Green Bay Press-Gazette says the report of free agent Peyton Hillis' visit with the Packers "appears to have been false."
The original report came from ultra-reliable Adam Schefter, so we highly doubt it was flat-out wrong. Perhaps the Packers had a visit scheduled and then decided to delay it while they tried to work out a deal with Steven Jackson. Now that Green Bay has lost out on S-Jax, the interest in Hillis could be renewed. The only running backs on their roster right now are DuJuan Harris, Alex Green, James Starks and Brandon Saine.

Tue Mar 12 201319:54Packers hosting Peyton Hillis
The Packers are hosting Peyton Hillis for a free-agent visit.
We wonder if this is a leverage play by GM Ted Thompson as he attempts to bring Steven Jackson's price tag down. Hillis would be a major downgrade from Jackson. It's also possible Thompson is seriously considering signing two backs; Hillis is strong in the passing game and can even lead block in a pinch.

Thu Mar 7 201315:20Hillis, Turner backup RB options for Pats?
The Boston Herald mentions free agents Peyton Hillis and Michael Turner as backup running back options for the Patriots.
Both Hillis and Turner are not expected to garner much interest early on in free agency, but beat writer Jeff Howe thinks they could be nice goal-line backs for New England if the price is right. The Patriots have Brandon Bolden as a bigger back behind Stevan Ridley, but his production was sporadic as a rookie.

Tue Jan 15 201318:06Hillis unlikely to be back with Chiefs
Impending free agent Peyton Hillis "didn't impress anyone in Kansas City" last season, according to Fox Sports Kansas City.
When he wasn't injured, Hillis often appeared to be running in quicksand. He simply hasn't been an effective runner or receiver since the 2010 season. New coach Andy Reid prefers to use one feature back as opposed to a tandem attach, which means Hillis is a long shot to re-sign with the Chiefs.

Sun Dec 30 201220:44Peyton Hillis rushes for four yards in finale
Peyton Hillis rushed five times for four yards in Kansas City's Week 17 loss to the Broncos.
A fitting end to a dismal season for the former Brown. Hillis finishes his first year in a Chiefs uniform with just 85 carries for 309 yards (3.6 yards per carry). He added only 10 catches for 62 yards in the passing game. A plodding back with no special qualities, Hillis is an impending free agent who will have a hard time earning guaranteed money on the open market this offseason.
