Sun Dec 23 201217:10Peyton Hillis goes for 101 yards in Week 16
Peyton Hillis rushed 15 times for 101 yards in Kansas City's Week 16 loss to Indianapolis.
Hillis saved his best game in a Chiefs uniform for meaningless Week 16, ripping off powerful run after powerful run while playing second fiddle to a red-hot Jamaal Charles (22-226-1). Hillis, who turns 27 in January, is a free agent at season's end. He'll try to put more intriguing things on tape when Kansas City visits Denver for the season finale in Week 17.

Sun Dec 9 201216:04Peyton Hillis held to 17 yards in Week 14
Peyton Hillis rushed five times for 11 yards and caught a six-yard pass in the Chiefs' Week 14 loss to Cleveland.
Hillis experienced a brief uptick in playing time when Jamaal Charles sat out a series or two with a mild rib injury. Hillis was predictably ineffective on his opportunities and is not worth rostering for the final two fantasy weeks.

Thu Nov 22 201210:07Peyton Hillis a bust for the Chiefs
Peyton Hillis said he can't explain why he's struggled so badly in his first season as a Chief.
When Hillis hasn't battled an ankle sprain, he's been unproductive on the field. In seven games, he's averaged just 3.75 YPC, scored no touchdowns and lost two fumbles. "There's something to this that I can't figure out," Hillis said. "It takes its toll on you. It's hard sometimes to get out of that rut."

Sun Nov 18 201217:49Peyton Hillis fumbles but isn't benched
Peyton Hillis rushed three times for nine yards in the Chiefs' Week 11 loss to the Bengals.
Hillis lost a careless fumble in the first half. That led to speculation that he'd be sat down for the rest of the day because of Romeo Crennel's alleged "zero-tolerance" policy on turnovers. But Crennel backed off and Hillis played a few snaps in the second half as the Chiefs got blasted once again. Regardless, the power back is off the fantasy radar. He has zero touchdowns on the year and hasn't topped 32 yards since Week 2.

Fri Nov 2 201200:32Hillis struggles in Week 9 against Chargers
Peyton Hillis ran the ball seven times for just 14 yards in Week 9 against San Diego.
Hillis added a reception for another seven yards on Thursday night. After returning in Week 8 from an ankle injury, Hillis got just four days to recuperate and it showed. He still runs with some good power but the acceleration is still lacking. Hillis and Shaun Draughn will remain in the change-of-pace role behind Jamaal Charles next week against the Steelers.

Mon Oct 29 201210:07Crennel liked what he saw of Hillis
Coach Romeo Crennel suggested that Peyton Hillis' effectiveness Sunday was a reason for Jamaal Charles' light workload.
Hillis did look spry in his first game back from an ankle injury, but he saw just four carries. We're beginning to wonder if Crennel has any idea what is going on offensively. "We were rotating our backs in there. Hillis was back and he was able to get some carries. He was somewhat effective. When a guy's effective, we kind of stay with him a little bit," Crennel said. Expect a much larger dose of Charles against the Chargers Thursday, with Hillis staying in a change-of-pace role.

Sun Oct 28 201219:26Peyton Hillis held to 4 yards in Week 8
Peyton Hillis returned from his ankle injury in Week 8 to rush twice for four yards in the Chiefs' loss to the Raiders.
The Chiefs seemed to be using a Jamaal Charles-Hillis committee early in the game, although those plans were scrapped as they fell down by 17 points and were forced into pass-only comeback mode. Hillis did run with some power, but his acceleration is lacking and he is clearly an inferior option to Charles. In fantasy leagues, Hillis won't be worth a flex play in Week 9 at San Diego.

Fri Oct 26 201219:50Hillis (ankle) practices in full on Friday
Peyton Hillis (probable, ankle) was a full participant in Chiefs practice Friday.
Barring a last-minute setback, Hillis will be active Sunday for the first time since Week 3. With Jamaal Charles leading the NFL in yards-per-game, his role in the Chiefs' offense remains to be seen. Hillis had just 21 carries in three games prior to the injury.

Thu Oct 25 201215:44Peyton Hillis upgraded to full practice
Peyton Hillis (ankle) was upgraded to full participation in Thursday's practice.
Hillis remains on track to return to game action versus the Raiders on Sunday. We were unimpressed with his movement before the injury and expect his workload to suffer in favor of a rejuvenated Jamaal Charles.

Wed Oct 24 201219:02Peyton Hillis limited on Wednesday
Peyton Hillis (ankle) was limited in Wednesday's practice.
Hillis is on track to suit up for the first time since Week 3, but it's mildly concerning he couldn't get in a full session coming off the Chiefs' bye. Although Kansas City figures to go as run heavy as ever with Brady Quinn under center, Hillis isn't a viable flex option in any format.

Tue Oct 23 201211:56Peyton Hillis returned to practice on Monday
Peyton Hillis (ankle) returned to practice Monday.
It's Hillis' first time on the practice field since spraining his ankle in Week 3. He's on track to return for Sunday's game against the Raiders and should quickly slide back in as Jamaal Charles' caddy. Shaun Draughn has received 34 carries over the last four weeks, but has managed just 2.50 yards per carry on those totes.

Tue Oct 16 201214:40Chiefs hope to have Hillis, Dorsey in Week 8
Coach Romeo Crennel is hopeful that RB Peyton Hillis (ankle) and DE Glenn Dorsey (calf) will be available for Week 8 versus the Raiders.
Hillis and Dorsey were still limited in Tuesday's practice, but both are improving. Hillis is just borderline roster-worthy in 12-team leagues with Jamaal Charles playing as well as any back in the NFL.

Fri Oct 12 201211:35Hillis, Dorsey ruled out for Week 6
Chiefs RB Peyton Hillis (ankle) and DE Glenn Dorsey (calf) have been ruled out for Week 6 at Tampa.
Hillis is expected to return after the Chiefs' Week 7 bye, but his role will be decreased with Jamaal Charles playing as well as any back in the league. Allen Bailey filled in for Dorsey at right end last week.

Thu Oct 11 201218:43Peyton Hillis not practicing this week
Peyton Hillis (ankle) is not practicing this week, as expected.
The Kansas City Star has suggested that Hillis will return after the Chiefs' Week 7 bye. Hillis will send Shaun Draughn back to the bench, but he's not a threat to Jamaal Charles' fantasy value. Despite a respectable 4.4 YPC average, Hillis looked slow before injuring his ankle.

Tue Oct 9 201215:21Peyton Hillis not expected to play Sunday
Peyton Hillis (ankle) is not expected to play in Week 6 versus the Bucs.
Beat writer Adam Teicher calls the injury a high-ankle sprain, which explains why Hillis has been out for multiple weeks. Jamaal Charles can continue to expect a heavy workload, with Shaun Draughn and Cyrus Gray on hand to give him a breather.

Thu Oct 4 201215:53Peyton Hillis held out again on Thursday
Peyton Hillis (ankle) was held out of practice again on Thursday.
Hillis is expected to miss at least one more week, leaving Shaun Draughn to back up Jamaal Charles against the Ravens on Sunday.

Wed Oct 3 201214:20Peyton Hillis still not practicing
Peyton Hillis (ankle) remained out of Chiefs practice Wednesday.
Hillis was listed as doubtful before sitting out Sunday's loss, and there's been nothing to suggest he'll be ready to return for Week 5. We expect Shaun Draughn to back-up Jamaal Charles against the Ravens. Increasingly plodding and prone to injury, Hillis is an extremely low-upside own in fantasy leagues.

Sun Sep 30 201211:40Chiefs Week 4 inactives
Chiefs declared RB Peyton Hillis, DE Glen Dorsey, TE Kevin Boss, S Kendrick Lewis, WR Devon Wylie, and OL Bryan Mattison inactive for Week 4 against the Chargers.
Hillis suffered an ankle injury in Week 3 against the Saints, so Jamaal Charles will be the bellcow with Shaun Draughn working in behind him. Boss misses his second straight game after suffering a concussion. Dorsey is out with a calf injury. Ricky Stanzi is the third quarterback.
