Updating a previous item, Henry Rodriguez (neck) will continue his minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse.

Henry Rodriguez (neck) has retired all nine batters that he's faced at Double-A Harrisburg.
The hard-throwing Rodriguez has also tallied five strikeouts over his two rehab appearances. He was placed on the disabled list at the start of the regular season due to issues with his mechanics. Now that he has cleared those up, the right-hander should be added to the Nationals' bullpen early this week.

Fri Apr 8 201111:55Nationals' Rodriguez begins rehab
Henry Rodriguez (neck) was sharp in his rehab appearance Thursday, striking out three in two perfect innings for Double-A Harrisburg.
Rodriguez struggled with his mechanics and wildness this spring -- which is why he was stashed on the DL -- but he had no problems last night, throwing 15 of his 20 pitches for strikes. The Nationals could jettison Chad Gaudin to make room for him next week.

Thu Apr 7 201111:13Rodriguez (neck) ready for rehab assignment
Henry Rodriguez (neck) will begin a minor league rehab stint with Double-A Harrisburg.
Rodriguez began the season on the disabled list with a neck injury, but the roster move was just as much about him losing his mechanics. He's out of options, so the Nationals want to make sure he's right before calling him up to the major league level.

Mon Mar 28 201115:02Nats place Henry Rodriguez on disabled list
Nationals placed RHP Henry Rodriguez on the 15-day disabled list with an arm injury.
Rodriguez isn't really hurt, but the Nationals are a bit worried about his mechanics and want to give him more time at extended spring training to work out his early-season control issues. They're hoping he can eventually serve as a late-innings setup man.

Thu Mar 24 201110:50Nats to place Rodriguez on disabled list?
Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post speculates that the Nationals could place reliever Henry Rodriguez on the disabled list.
Rodriguez is currently being held out of exhibition games while he works on his mechanics. Nationals manager Jim Riggleman said earlier this week that Rodriguez is healthy, but Kilgore writes that Rodriguez was the one who requested to be held out of games after complaining of some soreness in his side and shoulder. It's worth noting that the 24-year-old right-hander is out of options, so placing him on the DL would give the Nationals some extra time to evaluate him.

Tue Mar 22 201118:02Nats holding Rodriguez out of spring games
Henry Rodriguez is being held out of exhibition action in order to work on his mechanics.
"I don't think there's any issues there," said Nationals manager Jim Riggleman, when asked if Rodriguez was healthy. "He's concerned more about his delivery. He feels he's out of sync. [McCatty is] going to try to schedule him in there when we can and see if we can get him throwing more strikes." Rodriguez, who was acquired from the A's in the Josh Willingham trade, was delayed from reporting to camp due to a visa issue and has walked three batters and yielded two runs over just 2 1/3 innings this spring. It's a tough spot for the Nationals, since the hard-throwing Rodriguez is out of options.

Wed Mar 2 201108:59Henry Rodriguez arrives at Nats' camp
Henry Rodriguez reported to Nationals' camp Wednesday after finally resolving his visa issue.
Rodriguez was delayed for nearly two weeks in his native Venezuela. The 24-year-old right-hander is scheduled to take his physical on Wednesday and while's he's behind the other relievers in camp, it shouldn't take him too long to get back up to speed.

Sun Feb 27 201108:47Henry Rodriguez delayed another few days
Henry Rodriguez won't be in Nationals camp until Tuesday.
The Nats were hoping for a Saturday arrival, but Rodriguez has experienced all sorts of visa problems this month and will be delayed another couple of days. The 24-year-old should have plenty of time to catch up with the other relievers in camp.

Fri Feb 25 201110:14Henry Rodriguez to arrive at Nats camp Sat.
Henry Rodriguez has solved his visa issues and is expected to arrive at camp Saturday.
Rodriguez was delayed for close to two weeks due to visa problems in his native Venezuela. Those are all cleared up now and he should be throwing bullpen sessions by late next week. The 24-year-old tallied a strong 33 strikeouts against just 13 walks over 27 2/3 innings of relief last season for the A's. He will operate in middle relief this year for the Nationals.

Thu Feb 24 201114:38Rodriguez still delayed due to visa issues
Henry Rodriguez continues to be delayed from reporting to spring training due to visa issues in his native Venezuela.
However, the Nationals remain hopeful that he should arrive soon. Rodriguez, who turns 24 on Friday, was acquired from the Athletics in the trade for Josh Willingham. The hard-throwing right-hander posted a 4.33 ERA and 33/13 K/BB ratio over 27 2/3 innings at the major league level last season and projects as a set-up man for Drew Storen.

Sat Feb 19 201109:59Nats relievers delayed due to visa issues
Nationals manager Jim Riggleman said relievers Henry Rodriguez and Elvin Ramirez might not make it to camp for several more days and perhaps longer due to visa issues.
"It's unfortunate," Riggleman said. "This stuff seems to happen every year. A couple guys get delayed for whatever reason. We'd certainly rather have them here than not here." Both right-handers are competing for a spot in the bullpen and both are new to the organization, so they're missing valuable time. Riggleman did say that they have people in the organization working with the pitchers in their native Venezuela, so he hopes they won't be too far behind.

Sat Dec 18 201011:24GM sees Henry Rodriguez as late-inning guy
Nationals GM Mike Rizzo envisions the newly acquired Henry Rodriguez making the team and "down the road" pitching the eighth or ninth inning.
There's no questioning Rodriguez's arm. His average fastball in 2010 was clocked at 98.45 mph, and he threw one fastball that reached 103.2 mph. The problem, though, is that he doesn't command the fastball well and his slider is very inconsistent. He'll certainly provide the Nats with a power arm, but Rodriguez isn't a real threat to take Drew Storen's job.

Thu Dec 16 201016:12Nats acquire Henry Rodriguez for Willingham
Nationals acquired RHP Henry Rodriguez and OF Corey Brown from the Athletics for OF Josh Willingham.
Rodriguez, 23, registered a 4.55 ERA and 1.37 WHIP over 27 2/3 innings of relief this past year in Oakland. The hard-throwing right-hander should find a spot in middle relief on the Nationals' 2011 roster.
Mon Jul 19 201018:55A's recall Henry Rodriguez from minors
Athletics recalled RHP Henry Rodriguez from Triple-A Sacramento.
This will be his fourth stint with the Athletics this season, though he has only made four appearances. The 23-year-old fireballer has a 1.69 ERA in 20 relief appearances with Triple-A Sacramento this season, averaging 13.1 K/9 and 3.8 BB/9.
Tue Jun 8 201018:25A's option Rodriguez to Triple-A Sacramento
Athletics optioned RHP Henry Rodriguez to Triple-A Sacramento.
Rodriguez has made several trips from Oakland to Sacramento this season and will probably make a few more before the year is through. The right-hander has a 5.06 ERA and 1.69 WHIP in four big league appearances.
Fri Jun 4 201018:43A's call up Henry Rodriguez from Triple-A
Athletics recalled RHP Henry Rodriguez from Triple-A Sacramento.
Rodriguez has an 8.10 ERA in three relief appearances over two stints with the Athletics this season. The hard-throwing right-hander has compiled a 2.40 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 22/7 K/BB ratio over 15 innings with Triple-A Sacramento this season.
Thu May 20 201012:57A's send Henry Rodriguez back to minors
Athletics optioned RHP Henry Rodriguez to Triple-A Sacramento.
This guy just can't get comfortable. Rodriguez was just recalled from the minors for a second time this season on May 16. He allowed one run over two innings in this most recent stint. We'll probably see the young fireballer again real soon.
Sun May 16 201013:49Rodriguez recalled from Triple-A
Athletics recalled RHP Henry Rodriguez from Triple-A Sacramento.
Hope he didn't unpack. Rodriguez was recalled on May 5, was optioned 10 days later, but less than 24 after that, he was back with the A's. Rodriguez has appeared in eight games for Triple-A Sacramento, but just one for the A's so far. Perhaps he'll get a few more appearances this time around.
