Baltimore Orioles outfielder Austin Hays is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against Daulton Jefferies and the Oakland Athletics. Ryan McKenna is getting the start in right field and batting seventh in the game. Hays was ice cold at the plate over the first week of the season, but he's started to turn things around lately. He notched multi-hit games in three of his last five outings, a stretch that included two doubles and three runs. Expect to see him back in the lineup for the series finale on Thursday.

Sun Apr 3 202212:35Austin Hays Away From Team For Birth Of Son
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Austin Hays has been out of the team's lineup since Thursday as he's been with his wife, Samantha. The couple welcomed a son named Hayden on Friday. According to Orioles manager Brandon Hyde, Hays should be back in the lineup for Sunday's game. Hays has appeared in eight games so far this spring. He's slashing .200/.238/.250 with just one extra-base hit (a double). He's ranked just outside the Top-200 in the RotoBaller rankings. The 26-year-old has dealt with a number of injuries since first debuting in the majors back in 2017. He has some power upside, but he's yet break through as a reliable fantasy asset.

Baltimore Orioles outfielder Austin Hays made his one hit count in Thursday's 3-2 extra-innings win over the Yankees, going 1-for-5 with an RBI single to win the game and a strikeout. Hays came to the plate in the bottom of the 10th inning with one out and the bases loaded. With the infield in, he was able to chop a 3-1 offering through the left side of the infield to bring the winning run to the plate. The 26-year-old has had a fantastic September, slashing .293/.339/.690 with six home runs and 15 RBI. The O's upcoming matchups aren't the best, but Hays is a viable option as a spark plug for fantasy managers' lineups late in the season.

Thu Aug 5 202101:38Austin Hays Steals Second Base Of The Year
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Austin Hays swiped his second base of the year Wednesday against the New York Yankees. He also went 1-for-4 with a single and an RBI. It's been a disappointing season for the 26-year-old, as he's managed just a .715 OPS with 11 homers in 283 at-bats. He's had an especially tough go of it with a .493 OPS over his last seven games. Fantasy managers may want to hold Hays based on his former pedigree as a prospect, but they might want to look to other options for the rest of this season.

BOSTON (AP) — Held hitless into the eighth inning by Domingo Germán and looking feeble, Alex Verdugo and the Boston Red Sox suddenly erupted for five runs and stormed past the New York Yankees 5-4 Sunday. Verdugo opened the eighth with a long double for Boston’s first hit. Later, Kiké Hernández slid home headfirst on Xander Bogaerts’ sacrifice fly with the go-ahead run to cap the rally. The Red Sox won for the 10th time in 13 games against the Yankees and reclaimed first place in the AL East, a game ahead of Tampa Bay. New York fell nine games behind Boston. Boston trailed 4-0 when Verdugo doubled to deep right, and Germán was lifted after the hit. Jonathan Loaisiga (7-4) relieved, and Boston broke loose with four straight hits. Hunter Renfroe had an RBI double, Christian Vázquez singled home a run and Hernández followed with an RBI double, cutting it to 4-3. Zack Britton relieved and pinch-hitter Kevin Plawecki’s groundout plated the tying run. Hernández hustled hard and beat right fielder... [More]
