Tue Nov 23 201022:37Dodgers don't offer arbitration to Barajas
The Dodgers did not offer arbitration to Rod Barajas.
Barajas hit .240/.284/.447 in 339 plate appearances overall between the Mets and Dodgers last season, but posted a .939 OPS in his 72 plate appearances in Los Angeles after getting claimed on waivers in August. He'll latch on somewhere as a backup backstop.
Sun Aug 22 201011:43Barajas claimed off waivers by Dodgers
Dodgers claimed C Rod Barajas off waivers from the Mets.
The Mets will just let the Dodgers pay Barajas' remaining salary and not receive anything in return. With Russell Martin out for the year, the Dodgers were looking for help behind the plate, and Barajas, who is hitting .225 with 12 home runs this season, should be their regular down the stretch, with Brad Ausmus returning to a backup role. Josh Thole will now officially become the everyday catcher for the Mets.
Thu Aug 19 201016:39Mets activate Barajas from AAA Syracuse
Mets activated C Rod Barajas from Triple-A Syracuse.
Silly or not, the Mets will carry three catchers for the time being. Barajas has collected an impressive 12 homers in 246 at-bats this season but won't start enough to warrant owning in most fantasy leagues.
Thu Aug 19 201013:33Report: Barajas placed on waivers
A major league source tells Andy Martino of the New York Daily News that Rod Barajas was placed on waivers.
The Mets are expected to activate Barajas from the disabled list today, but going with three catchers is a far from ideal situation. They'd love to work out some sort of deal, but it's hard to see Barajas receiving much interest.

Rod Barajas (oblique) is expected to rejoin the Mets on Tuesday in Houston, manager Jerry Manuel said Sunday.

Fri Aug 13 201021:35Barajas (oblique) hitless on Friday
Rod Barajas (oblique) was 0-for-3 in a minor league rehab game with High-A St. Lucie on Friday night.
Barajas was the designated hitter with the GCL Mets on Thursday, however he caught five innings on Friday. There's a good chance he'll be ready to return sometime next week, so something will have to give with Josh Thole.

Wed Aug 11 201019:01Barajas cleared to begin rehab assignment
Rod Barajas (oblique) has been cleared to begin a minor league rehab assignment with Single-A Port St. Lucie.
Barajas has been on the disabled list since July 26 with a left oblique strain and was batting a very poor .228/.266/.419 before the injury. If he is brought back this month, it should probably be in a backup role.

Wed Aug 11 201009:06Barajas (oblique) not close to returning
Mets manager Jerry Manuel said that Rod Barajas (oblique) is not close to returning from the disabled list.
The Mets probably don't mind all that much, anyway. Barajas was awful before going on the disabled list and they are better off giving Josh Thole as much playing time as possible right now.

Mon Jul 26 201019:20Red Sox made offer for Barajas last week
Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Red Sox made a trade offer for Rod Barajas before he was placed on the disabled list.
According to Rosenthal, the Red Sox offered right-hander Ramon Ramirez. It's not clear when the offer was made, but it's unlikely to happen now, as Barajas is on the disabled list with an oblique injury. The Mets could cut bait with the struggling Barajas at any time, so this looks like a missed opportunity.

Mon Jul 26 201018:05Mets place Barajas on 15-day DL
Mets placed C Rod Barajas on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 25, with a left oblique strain.
It's a blessing in disguise, really. The Mets clearly weren't about to cut Barajas, but he hasn't been pulling his weight since the start of June. Josh Thole will now get a chance to audition to be the regular catcher in Queens.
Mon Jul 26 201010:48Barajs to meet with Mets doctors on Monday
Rob Barajas is scheduled to meet Monday with the Mets' medical team concerning the oblique injury that he suffered over the weekend.
Barajas will probably undergo a few tests and could be placed on the disabled list if he does not respond well. Josh Thole is expected to serve as the Mets' regular catcher for now with Henry Blanco backing him up.

Sun Jul 25 201013:01No DL for Barajas yet
The Mets will not place Rod Barajas (oblique) on the DL today.
It sounds like the club will give the catcher a few days to see if his body responds. We'd still bet on him eventually landing on the DL, but it's not a given. Henry Blanco and Josh Thole will handle the catching duties for the Mets while Barajas is out.

Sun Jul 25 201008:57Barajas thinks he can avoid disabled list
Rod Barajas (oblique) thinks he will be fine "in a few days" and won't need a trip to the DL.
"It's sore," said Barajas, who left Saturday's game with an oblique injury. "But standing here, I'm not feeling a sharp pain or any kind of discomfort. It's just turning side to side." Well, Rod, that could be a problem given that you need to turn your body when you swing the bat. The catcher added that he considers himself " a pretty quick healer. So we'll see what happens." Manager Jerry Manuel thinks Barajas might need some DL time. "There's a possibility," Manuel said, "that we might have to do something there." The Mets are currently carrying three catchers on the roster, so expect them to play it safe and DL Barajas, with Henry Blanco and Josh Thole sharing the duties.

Sat Jul 24 201018:42Barajas diagnosed with strained right oblique
Rob Barajas has been diagnosed with a strained right oblique.
It's an injury that has landed many a major leaguer on the disabled list, and Barajas will probably fare no different. Josh Thole and Henry Blanco are already on the active roster, so the Mets are covered, but losing Barajas' bat will hurt a little. He's collected 12 homers and 34 RBI this season.

Fri Jun 25 201017:30Barajas remains out with sore back
Rod Barajas is out of the lineup for a third straight game Friday with a lower back problem.
Whether the Mets call it tightness or stiffness, the lingering absence looks like a bad sign. Manager Jerry Manuel told SNY today that Barajas was feeling better, so let's see what happens tomorrow.

His absence is curious, but we've heard nothing about an injury yet. That being said, he was bothered by a sore right wrist last month. Henry Blanco will start behind the dish and bat seventh against Armando Galarraga.
