Sat Jul 2 201110:55Jays to decide on Litsch after Sunday start
The Blue Jays will make a decision on what to do with Jesse Litsch (shoulder) following his rehab start with Triple-A Las Vegas Sunday.
That's assuming he gets up to the vicinity of the 95 pitches he's scheduled to throw. Litsch is not guaranteed a spot back in the Blue Jays rotation, with manager John Farrell saying the decision will be based on "whether there's an opening or the need to make a change." Litsch held a 4.66 ERA over eight starts before landing on the DL back in mid-May.

Tue Jun 28 201121:54Jesse Litsch to make one more AA start
Jesse Litsch (shoulder) will make one more rehab start for Double-A New Hampshire before moving up to Triple-A Las Vegas for his next outing.
We would figure that if the two outings go well, Litsch will be ready to rejoin the Blue Jays' rotation, as he'll have made four rehab starts. He's been out since mid-May with a shoulder impingement.

Mon Jun 27 201119:26Litsch set for at least two more rehab starts
Blue Jays manager John Farrell said Monday that Jesse Litsch (shoulder) will need at least two more rehab starts before returning from the disabled list.
Litsch made his second rehab start last Thursday with Double-A New Hampshire, fanning three over 3 2/3 scoreless innings. He threw 53 pitches in the outing, so the Jays would like him to get back to the 85-90 range before activating him from the disabled list. The 26-year-old right-hander had a 4.66 ERA over his first eight starts before going on the disabled list with a shoulder impingement on May 19.

Mon Jun 20 201120:18Litsch (shoulder) set for rehab start Thu.
Jesse Litsch (shoulder) is scheduled to make his next minor league rehab start Thursday with Double-A New Hampshire.
Litsch allowed three runs over two innings in his first rehab start with Class A Lansing on Saturday. The important part is that he is feeling healthy, but the Jays will obviously want to see better results before activating him from the disabled list. The 26-year-old right-hander has been sidelined since May 19 with a shoulder impingement.

Mon Jun 13 201113:05Litsch throws simulated game, no pain
Jesse Litsch (shoulder) threw a successful two-inning simulated game on Monday morning.
Litsch reported on his personal Twitter account that he felt "no pain" and is hoping to gain clearance to begin a minor league rehab assignment. The current plan calls for him to report to Single-A Lansing on Saturday for his first rehab start, but that could change. Litsch has been out since mid-May with a shoulder impingement.

Tue Jun 7 201109:27Litsch plays catch, throws off mound
Jesse Litsch (shoulder) played catch at 180 feet and threw off a mound from 45 feet on Monday.
"He had no ill effects and had a full range of motion," manager John Farrell said after watching the workout. "We'll be getting him into a simulated game in four or five days. He'll have to make multiple starts in rehab because of the nature of the injury." Litsch is expected to throw his first bullpen session Tuesday. He's been on the disabled list since mid-May with a right shoulder impingement.

Sat May 28 201114:04Jesse Litsch shut down for a week
Jesse Litsch (shoulder) will be shut down for a week before he can begin a rehab assignment.
It was the course of action recommended by Dr. Steven Mirabello in Florida, who examined Litsch Friday. He'll likely need at least a couple rehab starts, which would likely put his return date sometime in mid-June if all goes well.

Wed May 25 201113:59Litsch to have shoulder examined this week
Jesse Litsch will have his right shoulder examined by Dr. Steven Mirabello in Florida later this week.
The Blue Jays were hoping that Litsch would only have to miss two starts, but his return has been put on hold after feeling more pain in the shoulder this week. The 26-year-old right-hander has a 4.66 ERA and 36/18 K/BB ratio over his first eight starts this season. Carlos Villanueva will take his place in the starting rotation for now.

Sun May 1 201116:12Litsch has another rough day
Jesse Litsch struggled at Yankee Stadium on Sunday, allowing five runs on six hits and two walks in a Blue Jays loss.
He struck out five and walked two, but gave up a home run to Mark Teixeira in the first inning before Curtis Granderson tagged him for a three-run blast in the fifth. Litsch has now allowed a combined 14 runs in his past three starts, and is appearing to pitch his way out of mixed-league value.

Sun Apr 24 201120:41Blue Jays recall Litsch from Triple-A
Blue Jays recalled RHP Jesse Litsch from Triple-A Las Vegas.
He'll start against the Rangers Tuesday, taking Brett Cecil's spot in the rotation. Litsch wasn't terrible before being sent down, posting a 3.63 ERA with a 1.44 WHIP in three starts. Because of a disadvantageous matchup against Texas, however, you might want to wait a week before activating Litsch in your AL-only league.

Sun Apr 24 201111:31Jesse Litsch to come up to start Tuesday
Blue Jays manager John Farrell said Jesse Litsch will be recalled from Triple-A to start on Tuesday.
He'll be taking Brett Cecil's spot in the rotation. Litsch didn't pitch poorly before being sent down, holding a 3.63 ERA (albeit with a 1.44 WHIP), but he lost his spot because he had options left and Jo-Jo Reyes didn't Litsch will face the Rangers Tuesday.

Sat Apr 23 201111:27Jesse Litsch could be recalled to start Tues.
If Aaron Hill (hamstring) has to go on the disabled list, Jesse Litsch will be recalled to start on Tuesday.
The Jays will pull Carlos Villanueva out of the bullpen for a spot start if Hill doesn't need a DL stint, with Litsch likely taking the rotation spot the next time it comes up. Brad Mills evidently is no longer under consideration. Litsch was booted from the rotation last week despite a 3.63 ERA in his first three outings.

Tue Apr 19 201119:44Jesse Litsch demoted because he had options
Blue Jays manager John Farrell indicated that Jesse Litsch was demoted instead of Jo-Jo Reyes because he had options remaining and Reyes did not.
"Don't really think so," said Farrell when asked if Litsch could have saved his roster spot if he had pitched better in his last outing. "We've got a left-handed pitcher in Jo-Jo Reyes that was very good for us in spring training, we don't want to just give pitching away at this point in time... In Boston, Jesse threw the ball better than he did in Seattle, (but) this is still more of a situation that was somewhat out of his control." If Reyes doesn't start improving, the Jays will have no choice but to risk passing him through waivers or at least move him to the bullpen.

Sun Apr 17 201117:08Litsch loses to Red Sox

He allowed a three-run homer to Jacoby Ellsbury in a four-run second inning and never recovered. Litsch was coming off an outing where he threw five scoreless innings against the Mariners, but now owns a 3.63 ERA and 1.44 WHIP through 17 1/3 innings. He's not a viable mixed-league option.

Tue Apr 12 201102:04Jays' Litsch goes five scoreless
Jesse Litsch was removed after throwing five scoreless innings Monday against the Mariners.
Litsch allowed five hits and walked four, so it took him 111 pitches to get through five. That made pulling him an easy call. Litsch has a 2.38 ERA after two starts, though they've come against two of the AL's weakest offenses (he faced the A's last week). He'll have a tougher assignment with the Jays in Boston this weekend.

Wed Apr 6 201121:38Litsch holds A's to three runs in win
Jesse Litsch limited the A's to three runs in six-plus innings Wednesday in the Blue Jays' 5-3 win.
Listch fanned a career-high seven batters and walked only two in the impressive outing. He had a strong spring training and may be a sneaky flier option in deeper mixed leagues this season. The 26-year-old righty will take on the light-hitting Mariners next.
