Wed Mar 26 201419:59Logan (elbow) a 'longshot' to avoid DL
Boone Logan (elbow) is a "longshot" to avoid the disabled list, according to Rockies manager Walt Weiss.
Logan is coming off offseason surgery on his left elbow, and it was always a question as to whether he'd be ready for the start of the season. Even if he starts on the DL, it likely won't be a long stay for the reliever. As long as he avoids pitching in an official game he'll first be eligible to come off on April 5.

Sun Mar 23 201413:05Logan (elbow) to throw one inning Monday
Boone Logan (elbow) will throw one inning or 25 pitches, whichever comes first, in a minor league game Monday.
Logan issued a nine-pitch walk in his only action in a minors game Saturday, and it's still up in the air as to whether he'll be ready for Opening Day. If he does start the year on the disabled list, he'll be eligible to return on April 5 as long as he doesn't pitch in another Cactus League game before then. At this point it seems like a 50/50 proposition he'll start the year on the DL.

Mon Dec 16 201316:05Rox finalize $16.5M contract with lefty Logan
Rockies signed LHP Boone Logan to a three-year, $16.5 million contract.
It's a bit odd that the Rockies would commit so much money to a left-handed reliever when there are so many other holes on their roster, but Logan was very steady in his four seasons with the Yankees and should do fine in Colorado. He'll make a $4.75 million salary in 2014, $5.5 million in 2015 and $6.25 million in 2016.

Fri Dec 13 201309:42Rockies get Logan for three years, $16.5M
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Rockies will sign Boone Logan to a three-year, $16.5 million contract.
Josh Outman has been great the last two seasons versus lefties, so it's puzzling as to why the Rockies felt the need to give a lefty specialist $5.5 million per season. Logan has posted a 3.38 ERA with 202 strikeouts across 176 innings over the last four seasons for the Yankees, so he'll certainly help. It just doesn't seem like a great way for Colorado to spend their money.

Fri Dec 13 201308:35Logan gets three-year, $14M deal from Rockies
FOX Sports' Jon Morosi reports that the Rockies are close to signing Boone Logan to a three-year, $14 million deal.
Troy Renck of the Denver Post was first to report that a deal was close, and now we have the contract terms. It's a big chunk of change to pay a left-handed specialist, but the Rockies were obviously intent on improving their relief corps. Logan posted a 3.38 ERA with 202 strikeouts across 176 innings over the last four seasons for the Yankees.
