Fri Mar 10 202312:31Garrett Mitchell Dealing With Hamstring Tightness
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell (hamstring) was removed from Thursday's Cactus League game against the San Francisco Giants "for precautionary reasons with right hamstring tightness." There are no plans for Mitchell to undergo an MRI exam, though, and he's being listed as day-to-day. "I don't think you'll see him for a couple of days. I think we'll know tomorrow what's going on for sure, but at this point it doesn't look like that big of a deal. I can give you a better answer tomorrow, but that's what we're thinking/hoping," manager Craig Counsell said. It sounds as though the 24-year-old will be fine for Opening Day. Mitchell hit .311 in his first 28 big-league games in 2022, but he also struck out 28 times in 68 plate appearances. He will be given every chance to be Milwaukee's regular center fielder this year.

Wed Mar 8 202301:01Garrett Mitchell Hits Third Homer Of Spring Tuesday
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell continued to flash surprising power this spring in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the White Sox. The 24-year-old went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, his third of the spring. He has gotten off to a strong start this spring, batting .353 in 17 at-bats. Mitchell is set to serve as the center fielder for the Brewers in 2023 after slashing .311/.373/.459 with two HR and eight stolen bases in 68 plate appearances in his debut in 2022. While he is an intriguing fantasy option and does possess a good deal of speed, Mitchell has never hit for much power. It also should not be expected that he will be able to hit for such a high average over the course of his first full season. However, he is well worth a look with a current average draft position of 307.

Tue Aug 30 202200:40Garrett Mitchell Hits First Career Homer Monday
Milwaukee Brewers outfield prospect Garrett Mitchell made his presence known in Monday's 7-5 win over the Pirates, going 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk, and a strikeout. He also stole his first big-league base. The 23-year-old took Wil Crowe deep in the eighth inning to tie things up at 5-5. Mitchell is the Brewers' number five prospect according to MLB Pipeline and was hitting very well at Triple-A Nashville before his promotion several days ago. He has only played three games with the team but does have a .286/.375/.714 slash line so far. The start is encouraging, but fantasy managers will need to see more in redraft leagues before trusting him.
