Sat Sep 1 201222:01Johnson outstanding in no-decision vs. Mets
Josh Johnson was outstanding in a no-decision against the Mets on Saturday, surrendering just one run on three hits over eight strong innings.
Johnson struck out four and walked two, and the only real blemish in the outing was an RBI groundout by Josh Thole in the fifth inning. It was a nice bounceback effort from Johnson, who was pounded by the Dodgers his last time out. He'll head into Wednesday's home start against the Brewers with a 7-11 record, 3.86 ERA and 140/51 K/BB ratio over 165 1/3 innings.

Josh Johnson turned in an impressive outing in Tuesday's loss to the Phillies, surrendering only one run on three hits over eight strong innings.
Johnson punched out seven while walking one in the game. Jimmy Rollins started off the game with a solo blast, but that would account for the entirety of the scoring for both clubs. With the tough-luck loss, Johnson falls to 7-9 on the season, though he sports a respectable 3.73 ERA and 129/44 K/BB ratio through 147 1/3 innings. He'll attempt to get back in the win column when he takes on the Rockies in Colorado on Sunday.

Mon Jul 30 201217:51Jays unlikely to trade for Josh Johnson
Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports reports that the Blue Jays are "unlikely" to trade for Marlins right-hander Josh Johnson.
It's no surprise, as ESPN's Jayson Stark reported earlier in the day Monday that the Marlins have told interested clubs that they are planning on keeping the 28-year-old right-hander. The Blue Jays were interested in Johnson because he's under team control next season, but Miami's asking price is reportedly through the roof.

The Blue Jays, Angels, Rangers and Orioles are all reportedly after him, with Crasnick previously reporting that the righty would prefer to be near his home in Oklahoma or his wife's home in Orange County, California.

Thu Jul 26 201221:23Report: Blue Jays still pursuing Josh Johnson
According to Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports, the Blue Jays are still pursuing Josh Johnson.
The Blue Jays lost two out of three to the Athletics this week and currently sit at an even 49-49 on the year, but their place in the standings isn't necessarily going to impact their pursuit. Johnson is under contract for $13.75 million next season, so he has appeal to contenders and non-contenders alike. The Angels, Rangers and Orioles are among the others teams who have expressed interest. Johnson is reportedly drawing interest from the likes of the Angels, Rangers, Blue Jays and Orioles, but the Marlins are only willing to move him for a "monster return." Stark cites another executive, who was told by the Marlins that they'll only deal Johnson for a package centered around "a young, star-caliber player who isn't arbitration-eligible." The 28-year-old right-hander is making $13.75 million this season and will be paid the same salary next year.

The 28-year-old right-hander has a 4.14 ERA and a 105/35 K/BB ratio in 119 2/3 innings this season. The Marlins are reportedly 50-50 on whether they'll deal him, but they could intensify their efforts now that Cole Hamels is off the trade market.

However, Scott Miller of CBSSports.com reported on Monday night that the Marlins would prefer to him. Johnson 28, has a 4.14 ERA and a 105/35 K/BB ratio in 119 2/3 innings this season and is under contract for $13.75 million in 2013.

The Marlins traded Anibal Sanchez and Omar Infante to the Tigers on Monday and should continue to sell off parts in the days ahead. However, Rosenthal notes that they intend to "make baseball trades, not simply dump salaries." Johnson would likely bring the most in return, but Scott Miller of CBSSports.com reported late Monday night that the Marlins would prefer to keep him. The 28-year-old right-hander is under contract for $13.75 million next year, after which he becomes a free agent.
