Donovan Mitchell Injury Update

Donovan Mitchell has been on a tear in his first season as a Cavalier, averaging a career-high 28.8 points per game. The 26-year-old has certainly made an impact, so there is naturally some concern surrounding his most recent injury, a groin strain, suffered during Monday's win over the Pelicans.https://twitter.com/ChrisFedor/status/1615106299636719632?s=20&t=nIB5An7gWfmmxjT49g7LLAMitchell exited in the third quarter and did not return to the contest, finishing with 11 points in 22 minutes. He should continue to be a strong fantasy option, so fantasy managers should make sure Mitchell is back in their lineups for Saturday's slate.

Tue Jan 3 202307:39Donovan Mitchell Has A Historic 71-Point Night
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell looked like a man from another planet Monday versus Chicago, scoring 71 points in a 145-134 overtime victory. He became the sixth player in NBA history to score at least 71 points in a game and his performance also marks the first-ever game in the league with 70-plus points and 10-plus assists. It's the highest-scoring performance from a player since Kobe Bryant had 81 points versus Toronto in 2006. Mitchell got there with 22-for-34 shooting from the field and a 20-for-25 effort at the foul line. The Cleveland star netted seven triples with 15 attempts, and he wasn't far away from a triple-double either, finishing with eight rebounds, 11 assists and one block. Mitchell has been slumping lately, but he's one of the most talented scorers in the league and was always going to break out of it quickly. He was in an ideal situation for a big scoring night, with Darius Garland (thumb) and Evan Mobley (ankle) out of the lineup.

He shot 14-for-24 from the field and did some incredible work from downtown with an 8-for-15 effort. The three-time All-Star also had three assists with one rebound, one steal and two turnovers in 37 minutes. It would've been nice to have Mitchell provide more in other areas as well, but he can make up for it quickly, with Cleveland facing another game Saturday versus Dallas. It's going to be the second meeting of the week for the two teams, and Mitchell relished the opportunity to outshine Luka Doncic on Wednesday, finishing with 34 points. He has upped his game this month and is averaging 33.8 points for December.

Mon Dec 12 202217:29Donovan Mitchell Picks Up Questionable Tag For Monday
Cleveland Cavaliers point/shooting guard Donovan Mitchell (leg) has been listed as questionable to play in Monday's game against the Spurs due to a sore right leg. Mitchell has missed each of Cleveland's two prior contests due to the ailment, which has allowed Caris LeVert to slide back into the starting five and lead the team in scoring in consecutive outings. Mitchell has starred during his first months with the Cavaliers, ranking seventh in the league at 29 PPG, all while shooting a career-best 49.6 percent overall. With San Antonio yielding a league-high 120.4 PPG this year, a return from Mitchell would give him sizable DFS value; fantasy managers will want to check back prior to tip-off to confirm his status.

Fri Dec 9 202214:58Donovan Mitchell Questionable On Friday
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell (leg) is listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Sacramento Kings. The star guard is reportedly dealing with right leg soreness, so we could see him sit this one out. His absence would likely result in Caris LeVert moving into the starting five. LeVert has been effective off the bench this season, so a move to the starting five should only improve his fantasy value. Fantasy managers will need to check back closer to game time for another update on Mitchell's status.

Mitchell has missed one game due to an ankle sprain and his status remains in question for Wednesday's contest. Sun Nov 13 202200:19Donovan Mitchell Questionable On Sunday With Ankle Issue
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's battle with Minnesota. Mitchell tweaked his right ankle late during Friday night's loss to the Warriors, so he may miss his second game of the year. With Dean Wade (knee) and Jarrett Allen (ankle) also carrying injury designations heading into this one, Darius Garland may be in store for a productive showing. At the same time, Kevin Love, Caris LeVert, Evan Mobley, and Cedi Osman should also benefit.

Sat Nov 12 202207:08Donovan Mitchell Gets A Sniff Of A Triple-Double
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell came extremely close to his first career triple-double Friday night, finishing a 106-101 loss to the Warriors with 29 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists. He also collected two steals and one block in the game while having three turnovers in 37 minutes. Mitchell shot a solid 10-for-20 from the floor and hit three shots from deep with 10 attempts. Darius Garland's return was supposed to slow Mitchell down a bit, but that clearly hasn't happened, with the three-time All-Star averaging 32.5 points per game in four outings since Garland came back from an eye injury. He's scoring very efficiently at the minute, and this could turn out to be a very special campaign for Mitchell, with him being among the league's best scorers and not showing any signs of slowing down.

Sun Nov 6 202221:29Donovan Mitchell Scores Game-High 33 Points
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell returned from a one-game absence to lead all players in scoring on Sunday. The 26-year-old poured in 33 points, five rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block on 10-for-17 shooting from the floor. His three-point shooting wasn't as efficient as normal in this game as he shot just 1-for-7. Mitchell has proven that even when Darius Garland is on the floor, he's going to stuff the stat sheet. Fantasy managers can count on his production every night.

Sun Nov 6 202214:49Donovan Mitchell Will Play On Sunday
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell (ankle) will play on Sunday against the Lakers. Mitchell is having a fantastic year, averaging a career-high 31.1 points, 7.1 assists, and shooting 43.1% from downtown. It doesn't appear he'll be limited for this one, so fantasy managers should get him in the starting lineup.

Sun Nov 6 202200:37Donovan Mitchell Questionable On Sunday
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell (ankle) may not play against the Lakers. Mitchell has had a fantastic season, averaging a career-high 31.1 points. However, he tweaked his ankle during Wednesday's overtime win over the Boston Celtics and missed Friday's meeting with the Pistons. Fri Nov 4 202218:04Donovan Mitchell Out On Friday Night
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell (ankle) won't play on Friday versus Detroit. He injured his ankle during the first half of Wednesday's overtime win over the Boston Celtics, so the update isn't surprising. Darius Garland (knee) is out as well, so Caris LeVert is expected to be the primary ball-handler. Isaac Okoro will enter the starting lineup and should be viewed as a risky, high-upside fantasy option. At the same time, Kevin Love may see a substantial uptick in production from off the bench.

Thu Nov 3 202219:08Donovan Mitchell Tagged As Questionable
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell (ankle) has been given the questionable tag for Friday night due to an ankle sprain. He's been playing some heavy minutes while Darius Garland was out and then their game on Wednesday went into overtime. This could be just an overuse type of thing and questionable status is just in case he needs some rest. If he does miss the game, Caris LeVert would be the best value play and Isaac Okoro would get some added minutes as well.
