Tue Apr 30 201310:59Newsome: Leach could still be a Raven in 2013
GM Ozzie Newsome insists there is room for both Vontae Leach and fourth-round FB Kyle Juszczyk on the roster.
Leach graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 1 fullback last season and was a first-team All-Pro selection for the third straight year. But he carries a $4.33 million cap number and the Ravens are shifting away from a power running game. It's quite possible they'll try to save some money and get away with Juszczyk as Ray Rice's lead blocker.

The Baltimore Sun cautions that FB Vonta Leach should be "a little nervous" about his roster spot.
Leach is reportedly "the next man up" if the Ravens need to clear more cap space by chopping veterans. The 31-year-old fullback is due $3 million in the final year of his contract, and he counts $4.33 million against the cap.

Sat Feb 2 201313:55Leach a possible cap casualty this offseason?
The Baltimore Sun mentions Ravens FB Vonta Leach as a potential offseason cap casualty.
Leach has been selected to the Pro Bowl and named a first-team All-Pro in each of the last three seasons, but he'll count $4.33 million against the salary cap in the final year of his deal in 2013. Baltimore will need to get creative this offseason in order to keep all of their potential free agents.

Mon Jul 2 201208:23Leach a dominator for the Ravens
Ravens FB Vonta Leach has been a first-team All-Pro selection in each of the last two seasons.
Simply put, Leach is the best lead blocker in the NFL. In 2010, he paved the way for Arian Foster's 1,616 rushing yards. Last year, he came to Baltimore and Ray Rice broke off 1,364 yards while raising his yards-per-carry average from 4.0 to 4.7. It's another reason Rice is a strong and safe play in the top half of fantasy's first round.

Free agent FB Vonta Leach lists the Giants, Seahawks, and Chargers as possible landing spots in free agency.

Sat Jul 2 201112:55Texans to make Leach an offer
The Houston Chronicle's John McClain still expects the Texans to at least make free agent FB Vonta Leach an offer once the transactions freeze is lifted.
However, McClain has reported all offseason that Leach has designs on becoming the league's highest paid fullback, and that the Texans are unlikely to be his highest bidder. Unless the market for his services is surprisingly small, Leach is likely done in Houston.

According to the Houston Chronicle, free agent Vonta Leach has designs on becoming the highest paid fullback in the NFL.
That distinction is currently held by the Eagles' Leonard Weaver, who signed a three-year, $11.2 million deal last spring with $6.5 million guaranteed. Beat writer John McLain says the Texans will make free agent FB Vonta Leach an offer after the lockout.
The Texans must at least attempt to bring back Leach, who is one of the more popular players in the Texans' locker room. But we'll know how serious the Texans are by the size of their offer. The 2010 first-team All-Pro lead blocker wants a big raise and isn't convinced the Texans will give it to him.

The agent for free agent FB Vonta Leach is reportedly already "shopping his client around the league."
Heeding the advice of player counselors James Quinn and Jeffrey Kessler, agent Ralph Vitolo is gauging the market for his client despite the NFL's continued efforts to stall the beginning of free agency. Vitolo can't be the only agent making the rounds, and is further evidence of what a chaotic mess the league has on its hands.

Free agent FB Vonta Leach is having his knee scoped on Tuesday morning.
He should be 100 percent in a month. Leach continued to dominate as a lead blocker in 2010, paving the way for NFL leading rusher Arian Foster. The Texans should make certain to bring back the 29-year-old fullback for 2011.

"I want to be a Texan," he said. "I want to retire as a Texan, but we'll see how this thing goes." Pro Football Focus rated Leach as the second best run blocking fullback in football in 2010, behind only Jacksonville's Greg Jones. The 29-year-old should be a priority for Houston once a new CBA is struck.
