Sun Feb 13 201111:22Donald the favorite for 3B job?
The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Paul Hoynes thinks Jason Donald will lose out to Orlando Cabrera for the second base job but will win the third base job over Jayson Nix.
Acquired from the Phillies in the Cliff Lee deal, Donald came up through the minors as a shortstop but is capable of playing second and third base, as well. He doesn't have as much pop as Nix but has a better idea at the plate and possesses more upside. Whoever wins the job at the hot corner would just be keeping the position warm for prospect Lonnie Chisenhall, who could push for at-bats late in the year.

Sat Jan 1 201111:56Jason Donald the favorite to win 2B job
Indians MLB.com beat writer Jordan Bastian considers Jason Donald the favorite to win the second base job.
His primary competition figures to be Luis Valbuena, but prospect Jason Kipnis could enter the mix with a strong showing in spring training. Donald batted .253/.312/.378 with four home runs, 24 RBI and five stolen bases over 296 at-bats in 2010. The former Phillies prospect has the potential to help out in AL-only leagues.

Donald has been sidelined since bunting a ball off his right index finger on September 11. "We're going to be cautious with Donald," said Soloff. "We just want to make sure he finishes the season healthy. If that involves him progressing to full baseball activities and not playing, that's an option. Playing a game is an option, too, if he's on track to do that." Luis Valbuena will continue to play second base in his absence.

Indians manager Manny Acta said that Jason Donald will be the everyday second baseman now that Asdrubal Cabrera is back from the disabled list.
It's the right move. Donald is batting .276/.326/.423 with two home runs, 17 RBI over his first 163 at-bats in the big leagues and figures to have more of a future in the organization than Jayson Nix.
