Fri Jul 22 201123:25Jo-Jo Reyes awful again
Jo-Jo Reyes was horrendous again Friday, surrendering eight runs on eight hits and a walk over just 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Rangers.
He's now allowed 15 runs over his last two starts and has given up fewer than four runs just twice over his last eight outings. We've been harping on it for a while now, but the Jays simply can't keep sending him out there with a 5.40 ERA and 1.59 now on the year. If he does get another shot, it will come next week against the Orioles.

Thu Jul 14 201122:19Reyes blasted again but wins
Jo-Jo Reyes picked up a win Thursday despite another horrible effort, as he allowed seven runs on 10 hits and a walk over 5 1/3 innings in a 16-7 win over the Yankees.
The Blue Jays put up an eight spot on Bartolo Colon in the first inning, but Reyes let them back in the game by giving up four in the third and then getting chased shortly after serving up a three-run blast to Andruw Jones in the sixth. The left-hander hasn't had a decent start since mid-June and now holds a 4.94 ERA and 1.57 WHIP for the season. We can't see how the Jays will stick with him much longer. He's scheduled to face the Mariners next.

Fri Jul 8 201122:37Reyes wins fourth
Jo-Jo Reyes gave up three runs - zero earned - on eight hits and three walks over 5 2/3 innings in an 11-7 win over the Indians.
He didn't strike out anyone. It's far from an impressive performance, but a couple errors made all three runs unearned, so Reyes was able to lower his first half ERA to 4.57. Though he pitched well in May, Reyes went back to being Reyes in June and hasn't been any better in a pair of July outings. He's in danger of being designated for assignment if he doesn't pick it up.

Tue Jun 28 201122:27Reyes gets blasted in loss to Pirates
Jo-Jo Reyes lasted just 3 2/3 innings and gave up six runs Tuesday in a loss to the Pirates.
He allowed nine hits and a walk, striking out five. He also surrendered another homer. In 282 2/3 innings as a major leaguer, he's given up 44 bombs. Reyes is 3-7 with a 4.77 ERA.

Wed Jun 22 201116:25Jo-Jo Reyes loses to old team
Jo-Jo Reyes lost to his former team after allowing four runs in 5 1/3 innings Wednesday against the Braves.
Reyes had won three out of his last four starts. Homers today from Dan Uggla and Brian McCann were his undoing. He's been better than expected for the Jays this season, but as many homers as he gives up, we wonder how much longer that will last. In 279 innings as a major leaguer, he's given up 43 bombs.

Mon May 30 201122:02Long national nightmare ends, Reyes win
Our long national nightmare came to an end on Monday evening, as Jo-Jo Reyes finally stopped his 28 game winless streak, and in style, allowing just one run on eight hits in a complete-game victory over the Indians.
So not only did Reyes win for the first time since May 18, 2008 (where as a member of the Braves he allowed two runs on eight hits in five innings of work against the A's in a 5-2 victory), he also tossed the first complete game of his career in his 48th lifetime start. He is now 1-4 through 11 2011 starts, and the owner of a 4.15 ERA and 1.52 WHIP in 60 2/3 innings pitched.

Sun May 1 201113:04Jo-Jo Reyes could be fighting for spot Tues.
Blue Jays manager John Farrell indicated that Jo-Jo Reyes might be fighting for his spot in the rotation during his start Tuesday.
"I think it's an important one," Farrell said. "He would do himself and certainly us a world of good by having a good game." If Reyes, who holds a 5.48 ERA in five starts, is bumped from the rotation, Brad Mills, Brett Cecil and Carlos Villanueva would be candidates to replace him.

Fri Apr 29 201110:23Jays to stick with Reyes 'as long as we can'
Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos said the team will stick with Jo-Jo Reyes in the rotation "as long as we can."
He added that there was no timeline of when Reyes might be booted from the rotation if things don't improve. It seems, though, that he doesn't have long to right the ship. The left-hander holds a 5.48 ERA in five starts, and that includes his last outing where he gave up six runs but didn't suffer with his ERA because they were all unearned. The Jays would likely look to Brad Mills or Brett Cecil, who is working out issues at Triple-A, to replace Reyes.

Fri Apr 22 201123:15Jo-Jo Reyes solid in no-decision
Jo-Jo Reyes gave up four runs on six hits and a walk over seven innings Friday while picking up a no-decision in the 6-4 extra innings win over the Rays.
It won't go down officially as a quality start, but it was a solid effort from the left-hander, as he struck out six on the night. Reyes has now had two good starts and two poor ones and is still in the rotation only because he doesn't have any options left. More showings like this will help him keep his spot. He'll go up against the Rangers in his next outing.

Sat Apr 16 201116:28Reyes struggles in loss to Red Sox
Jo-Jo Reyes was tagged for four runs over three-plus innings in Saturday's loss to the Red Sox.
Reyes gave up seven hits -- including a two-run homer to Jed Lowrie -- while walking five, throwing a wild pitch and striking out three. He has a 6.75 ERA over his first three turns in the rotation and will head to the bullpen once Brandon Morrow returns from the disabled list, which could be as soon as next week. He can safely be ignored in fantasy leagues.

Sun Apr 10 201118:47Jays' Reyes takes loss to Angels
Jo-Jo Reyes yielded three runs -- one earned -- over seven innings Sunday in a loss to the Angels.
Reyes pitched well, but he couldn't work his way out of trouble in the fourth after an infield single and then an error from center fielder Rajai Davis, who left the game soon afterwards. The Angels went on to score two runs in the inning, and the Jays couldn't come back off Jered Weaver. Reyes might be bumped from the rotation now with Brandon Morrow expected back soon.

Tue Apr 5 201122:06Reyes blasted in Toronto victory
Jo-Jo Reyes was blasted for five runs on nine hits and a walk over 3 1/3 innings in Tuesday's loss to the A's.
The portsider is filling a spot in the Blue Jays rotation until Brandon Morrow is healthy. He won't get many more opportunities if he pitches like he did on Tuesday. Toronto's bullpen bailed him out, tossing 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball as the club clawed back into the game. Reyes took a no-decision in Toronto's victory.

Wed Mar 23 201122:07Reyes named to Blue Jays' starting rotation
Jo-Jo Reyes has been named a member of the Blue Jays' season-opening starting rotation.
Reyes sealed the deal on Wednesday night with six scoreless innings against a lineup of Yankees regulars. He's had serious struggles with injuries in the past few seasons but is claiming to be healthy now and may be of use as a spot starter in deep mixed fantasy leagues.

Wed Mar 23 201121:13Reyes throws six scoreless against Yankees
Jo-Jo Reyes limited the Yankees to two hits over six innings Wednesday in Grapefruit League play.
Reyes did not allow a run -- earned or unearned -- and struck out four against a stacked Yankees lineup. It was his first time pitching over six innings since April of 2009 and he may have done well enough to secure a spot in the Blue Jays' Opening Day rotation. Brandon Morrow's injury, of course, made his path a little easier.

Thu Mar 17 201116:04Jays' Reyes allows three runs in win
Jo-Jo Reyes gave up three runs in five innings Thursday versus the Phillies.
Reyes is both a rotation and a bullpen candidate, but he's also far from a lock to make the Jays. He helped his chances by opening the spring by allowing two runs and one hit in his first eight innings. However, both Shane Victorino and Michael Martinez homered off him today.

Sat Mar 12 201114:15Jo-Jo Reyes could make team as reliever
Blue Jays manager John Ferrell said he's open to using Jo-Jo Reyes out of the bullpen if he doesn't make the rotation.
"Given his situation (being out of options), he's pitching to make the club," Farrell said. "If he doesn't make the rotation it's such a good arm you don't want to just turn your back on that so we're open minded to either or." Reyes has given up only one hit and two runs in seven innings this spring, but Kyle Drabek and Jesse Listch have also pitched well and are considered the clear favorites to land the last two rotation spots.

Wed Jul 14 201012:23Blue Jays acquire Jo-Jo Reyes from Braves
Blue Jays acquired LHP Jo-Jo Reyes and SS Yunel Escobar from the Braves for SS Alex Gonzalez, LHP Tim Collins and INF Tyler Pastronicky.
Reyes has a 5.70 ERA in 12 games (10 starts) with Triple-A Gwinnett this season, though he has averaged 9.5 K/9. The 25-year-old left-hander made one appearance this season with the Braves on April 12, giving up nine runs over 3 1/3 innings. The AL East probably isn't the best place for him, but there's still No. 4 starter upside here.
Sun May 16 201012:10Braves activate, option Reyes to Triple-A
Braves activated LHP Jo-Jo Reyes from the 15-day disabled list; optioned him to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Reyes had been on the DL with a hyperextended right knee since April 13, so a stint in the minors to get his feet back underneath him was in order. The Braves bullpen has been coping fine in his absence, as they've posted a combined ERA of 3.78 with a BAA of .227 in 109 2/3 innings worth of work.
Sat Apr 17 201000:08Braves' Reyes has hyper-extended knee
An MRI on Friday revealed that Jo-Jo Reyes is suffering from a hyper-extended right knee and a bone bruise.
The good news is that he will not need surgery. Reyes was placed on the disabled list on Thursday after he felt a pop in his knee while making a throw to second base on Monday. Doctors told Reyes they expect the pain to go away in a week or so.

Thu Apr 15 201017:00Braves place Jo-Jo Reyes on 15-day DL
Braves placed LHP Jo-Jo Reyes on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 13, with a strained right knee.
Reyes injured his knee while backing up home plate earlier this week. He's had a rough start to the 2010 season, with nine earned runs in just 3 1/3 innings. Perhaps the extra rest will help him get square.
