Wed May 6 201513:32McGehee not in lineup Wednesday
McGehee is not in the lineup Wednesday.
This was something manager Bruce Bochy hinted at Tuesday, so it comes as no surprise. Matt Duffy will get the start at third base. Giants fans have been booing McGehee in the early going as he is slashing just .181/.234/.264.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy suggested he might sit McGehee on Wednesday, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports.
McGehee is sitting Tuesday in favor of Matt Duffy, and it sounds like he may need another day to get his head together. "He even admitted he probably needed to take a step back," Bochy said. McGehee is sitting with a .498 OPS through 21 games and has grounded into a whopping nine double plays.
Tue May 5 201519:03McGehee out of lineup Tuesday against Padres
McGehee is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Padres, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports.
Not only did McGehee ground into his ninth double play of the year Monday, he also committed his fifth error, and now finds himself on the bench in favor of Matt Duffy at third base. McGehee is sitting with a dismal .498 OPS through 21 games this season (77 PA).

McGehee's early-season struggles continued Friday as he went 0-for-4, grounding into a couple of double plays in the loss to the Rockies.
McGehee has just seven hits in 43 at bats with his new club. He has been visibly frustrated with his performance at the plate, but manager Bruce Bochy said that he believes his third baseman will come out of his slump. While he didn't explicitly discuss his plans at third base, it seems that Bochy isn't ready to give up on McGehee in favor of the hot-hitting Matt Duffy quite yet.
Wed Apr 22 201518:44McGehee out of lineup Wednesday against Dodgers
McGehee is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Dodgers, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports.
It seems McGehee is just getting a routine day off, as there has been nothing to suggest his absence is related to the knee issue that cost him some time last week. Joaquin Arias will start at third base for San Francisco.
Fri Apr 17 201518:23Casey McGehee: (Knee) Back In Action
McGehee (knee) is back in the lineup Friday against the Diamondbacks.
The knee issue cost McGehee five consecutive starts, but he came off the bench Thursday night and will return to third base and the five-hole Friday to take on right-hander Josh Collmenter. McGehee has started the season 5-for-21 (.238 average), but he does have a homer. He didn't hit his first long ball last year until May 10.

McGehee (knee) was used as a pinch-hitter in Thursday's extra-inning loss to the Diamondbacks, drawing a walk in his only plate appearance.
While he didn't get the start, the pinch-hit appearance all but assures McGehee dodged the disabled list. There is a strong chance that he starts Friday's game against the Diamondbacks.

McGehee (knee) could return to the lineup for Friday's game against the Diamondbacks, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports.
McGehee is out of the lineup for a fifth consecutive game Thursday night, but the Giants' training staff believes he may only need one more day. It thus seems McGehee will avoid a stint on the disabled list, and he may even be available to pinch-hit in Thursday's game.

McGehee (knee) is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks, MLB.com's Chris Haft reports.
McGehee was available to pinch-hit in Wednesday's game against the Rockies, but he never made it off the bench, even though it was a reasonably close contest. With Thursday marking McGehee's fifth consecutive absence, Matt Duffy will get another start at third base. If McGehee doesn't play within the next day or two, the Giants might give some thought to placing him on the disabled list.
Wed Apr 15 201520:00McGehee (knee) available to pinch hit Wednesday night
McGehee (knee) is available to pinch hit Wednesday night, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
McGehee is out of Wednesday's lineup for the fourth straight game, but the report indicates that he could be a candidate to start games as soon as Thursday. Matt Duffy, who had been filling in at the hot corner, will likely return to a reserve role once McGehee is ready to take on consistent playing time.

McGehee (knee) remains out of the lineup Wednesday, the San Jose Mercury News' Alex Pavlovic reports.
He will miss a fourth straight game with a sore left knee and Matt Duffy will continue to fill in at third base. Continue to consider McGehee day-to-day for now.

McGehee will miss his third straight game due to his sore left knee. Matt Duffy will make another start in McGehee's place Tuesday evening.
Mon Apr 13 201513:18McGehee (knee) not in lineup for Monday's game against Rockies
McGehee (knee) is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Rockies.
McGehee will sit out for the second straight day due to the bruised knee he suffered in Saturday's game. Matt Duffy will man the hot corner Monday in McGehee's place.
Sun Apr 12 201515:14McGehee (knee) just suffering from bone bruise
McGehee (knee), who is out of the lineup Sunday, just suffering from a bone bruise, CSN Bay Area reports.
McGehee's diagnosis should be a major relief for the Giants and fantasy owners alike. While McGehee may require a few days of treatment, the issue shouldn't result in a DL stint.

Matt Duffy is taking over his position for this game, but it remains unclear how long McGehee will be out of the starting lineup.

McGehee (knee) is not in San Francisco's lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres.
There's no word on how long Mcgehee's knee could keep him out, but it should probably be a few more days. In the meantime, it looks like Matt Duffy (who starts Sunday) and Joaquin Arias will split the third base starts.
Sat Apr 11 201521:32Casey McGehee: Leaves With Knee Strain
McGehee suffered a left knee strain during an at-bat in the first inning and departed Saturday's game, the San Francisco Chronicle's Henry Schulman reports.
He was replaced by Joaquin Arias at third base, and it would not be surprising if McGehee ended up needing a DL stint to overcome the knee injury. In addition to Arias, Matt Duffy could conceivably see some starts at third base in the interim, but neither option is too exciting for fantasy purposes.

McGehee went 2-for-5 with his first home run as a Giant in Wednesday's win over the Diamondbacks.
McGehee blasted a two-run shot off of Evan Marshall in the ninth inning, effectively icing the win for the Giants. The veteran third baseman is off to a good start with his new club, recording two multi-hit games in three starts. Many steered clear of McGehee after he hit a dismal four home runs over 691 plate appearances with the Marlins last year, but his HR/FB ratio was unusually low with the Marlins (2.5% after never being below 8.6%). Those in deeper leagues should consider giving McGehee a chance at their corner infield spot, as he should see his power numbers return to the norm this year.

McGehee went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Tuesday's loss to the Diamondbacks.
McGehee signed with the Giants in February and figures to serve as the club's everyday third baseman. The 32-year-old had a solid Opening Day, reaching base three times and scoring once, and could present an intriguing option in NL-only formats.
Thu Feb 12 201516:04McGehee agreed to one-year contract with Giants on Thursday
McGehee agreed to a one-year contract with the Giants on Thursday, avoiding arbitration, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
The 32-year-old McGehee revived his career in Miami last season, batting .287 with a .355 OBP and 76 RBI. He managed just four home runs and grounded into 31 double plays (most in the majors), but McGehee has gone from one good situation to another and should at least garner interest in NL-only leagues. McGehee projects to bat behind Brandon Belt, Buster Posey and Hunter Pence against right-handed pitching.
