Sun Jun 15 201417:05Vance Worley terrific in no-decision
Vance Worley's first major league start in over a year was a good one, as the righty held the Marlins scoreless over seven frames Sunday.
The righty allowed five hits -- four of them singles -- while striking out five and walking no one. Unfortunately, he was removed after 95 pitches and watched the bullpen cough up the lead, costing him a win. Worley will make at least another couple starts while Francisco Liriano (oblique) is on the disabled list and should be owned in NL-only leagues.

Sun Jun 15 201411:30Vance Worley called up from Triple-A
Pirates purchased the contract of RHP Vance Worley from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Worley will start on Sunday against the Marlins and should get a few more turns in the rotation while Francisco Liriano (oblique) is on the shelf. The righty was a disaster last season for the Twins but put up a 4.30 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 43/4 K/BB ratio over 46 innings at Triple-A. He's worth a shot in NL-only formats.

Sat Jun 14 201413:10Vance Worley to start for Pirates on Sunday
Vance Worley will start for the Pirates against the Marlins on Sunday.
Worley will be filling the rotation spot of Francisco Liriano who was placed on the disabled list this week. He has looked good at Triple-A Indianapolis this season, posting a 4.30 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 43/4 K/BB ratio over 46 innings, though he should probably be avoided in all but NL-only formats.

Fri Jun 13 201412:44Vance Worley could start Sunday
Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review writes that Vance Worley "is a possibility" to be called up to start Sunday versus the Cubs.
The Pirates need a fill-in for the injured Francisco Liriano (oblique). Worley had been scheduled to pitch for Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday but has been scratched, indicating that he's the guy the big club will summon. The former Phillie and Twin has posted a 4.30 ERA but a 1.11 WHIP and an outstanding 43/4 K/BB ratio across 46 Triple-A frames this season.

Tue Mar 25 201417:03Pirates acquire SP Vance Worley from Twins
Pirates acquired RHP Vance Worley from the Twins for cash considerations; assigned him to minor league camp.
Worley was outrighted off the Twins' 40-man roster last week after a brutal showing in Grapefruit League play. He also struggled mightily last summer in Minnesota and will only be an emergency starter for Pittsburgh. It's been quite a tumble for the now-26-year-old right-hander, who finished third in the National League Rookie of the Year balloting in 2011 with the Phillies. The Bucs will try to get him on the right track at Triple-A Indianapolis.

Fri Mar 21 201415:35Vance Worley outrighted to Triple-A
Twins sent RHP Vance Worley outright to Triple-A Rochester.
Worley finished third in NL Rookie of the Year voting in 2011 and was the Twins' Opening Day starter last season, but he managed to go through waivers unclaimed. The 26-year-old held a 7.21 ERA in 10 starts for Minnesota last year and was rocked for 22 hits and 16 runs over 10 2/3 inning this spring.

Fri Mar 21 201411:42Twins place righty Vance Worley on waivers
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Twins have placed Vance Worley on waivers.
It's been quite a fall for the 26-year-old, as Worley finished third in NL Rookie of the Year voting while with the Phillies in 2011 and last year was the Twins' Opening Day starter. Worley held a 7.21 ERA in 10 starts for Minnesota last year and has been blasted for 22 hits and 16 runs over 10 2/3 inning this spring. Despite his recent struggles, it's possible someone will take a chance on him.

Fri Mar 7 201417:10Vance Worley gives up five runs
Vance Worley was lit up by the Pirates on Friday, allowing five runs and seven hits in 1 1/3 innings.
Worley pitched three scoreless innings last time out, but he was hit hard right from the start today. He needs to be much better to interest teams in carrying him as a starter. The Twins aren't likely to keep him, but since he's out of options, he'll likely be available to everyone at the end of the spring.

Fri Feb 14 201409:59Vance Worley loses 20 pounds over winter
Vance Worley lost about 20 pounds over the offseason.
Worley is coming off an awful season where he posted a 7.21 ERA with the Twins, spent a good chunk of time in the minors and also dealt with elbow issues. However, it's clear that he's motivated now as he looks to compete for the final spot in the club's rotation.

Fri Aug 2 201320:29Vance Worley resumes playing catch
Twins general manager Terry Ryan said Friday that Vance Worley (elbow) has resumed playing catch without any issues.
It's a very encouraging sign that he's able to do so without experiencing any pain. Worley, who was supposed to be an impact addition when he was acquired from the Phillies this offseason, was demoted in May and has been sidelined since July 18. He had been pitching better in recent weeks though, and could still be a candidate to return to the Twins' rotation at some point before the end of the season.

Thu Jul 18 201316:42Worley (shoulder) placed on DL in minors
Vance Worley has been placed on the 7-day disabled list with Triple-A Rochester due to right shoulder inflammation.
Worley, who was demoted in in May after posting an ugly 7.21 ERA in 10 starts, has a 3.88 ERA over nine starts at the Triple-A level. The 25-year-old has been mentioned for a possible call-up, but that will have to wait until he proves his health.

Tue May 28 201312:35Vance Worley throws shutout in Triple-A
Vance Worley threw a five-hit shutout Monday in his first start with Triple-A Rochester.
Worley walked four and struck out four while throwing 119 pitches. He was demoted to the minors last week after posting an ugly 7.21 ERA across 10 starts, but figures to get another in the Twins' rotation before long.

Wed May 22 201315:32Twins option RHP Vance Worley to Triple-A
Twins optioned RHP Vance Worley to Triple-A Rochester.
No word yet on whether Kyle Gibson will be the choice to replace him, but don't count it out. The Twins acquired Worley from the Phillies over the winter in hopes that he would be a productive member of the starting rotation, but he has been anything but. After being knocked around for eight runs in 3 2/3 innings Wednesday by the Braves, the 25-year-old has an ugly 7.21 ERA across 10 starts. If Worley can turn things around in the minors, he figures to get another chance soon.

Fri May 17 201323:52Worley goes six innings in no-decision
Vance Worley showed some signs of life Friday, as he limited the Red Sox to one unearned run over six innings as part of a no-decision.
Worley gave up an RBI single to David Ortiz in the first inning, but he held the Red Sox off the board the rest of the way. All told, he allowed six hits and three walks while striking out one. Still, Worley owns an ugly 6.20 ERA through nine starts and will need to get more swings-and-misses to be an asset in fantasy leagues.

Sat May 11 201322:10Worley tallies first win despite rough outing
Vance Worley picked up his first win of the year on Saturday night despite allowing five earned runs on 11 hits over 5 1/3 innings against the Orioles.
Worley looked like he was throwing batting practice, but the Minnesota offense finally gave him some support. The 25-year-old right-hander is 1-4 with a 7.15 ERA and 1.95 WHIP through his first 39 innings with the Twins. It's hard to see him holding fantasy value at any point this season.

Tue Apr 30 201322:08Worley allows six runs in loss to Tigers
Vance Worley yielded six earned runs over 4 2/3 innings Tuesday in the Twins' loss to the Tigers.
Worley only issued one walk, but he gave up 10 hits (including three home runs) as the Tigers rolled to an easy victory. Worley is now 0-4 with a 7.22 ERA, 1.92 WHIP and 17/9 K/BB ratio through 28 2/3 innings this season. He obviously carries no fantasy relevance.

Sat Apr 20 201318:50Worley goes seven strong in win over Chicago
Vance Worley held the White Sox to one run over seven innings Saturday in a Twins victory.
Worley was handed a no-decision because Minnesota didn't capture the win until extra innings. The 25-year-old righty looked sharp all afternoon against a decent White Sox lineup, racking up seven strikeouts while scattering five hits. He will get the Rangers next.

Sun Apr 14 201309:10Vance Worley could start on three days' rest
Vance Worley could start on Tuesday on three days' rest.
Worley threw only 57 pitches while getting roughed up for nine runs -- seven earned -- during his start on Friday, so the Twins could bring him back early. Tuesday would have been Liam Hendriks' turn, but he was demoted on Saturday.

Sat Apr 13 201300:31Worley blasted in loss to Mets
Vance Worley was tattooed for nine runs (seven earned) on seven hits and two walks while retiring just three batters in Friday's blowout loss to the Mets.
That's the kind of performance that can ruin a fantasy owner's entire week. Worley gave up five runs in 40-pitch first inning and was pulled after allowing the first four batters to reach base in the second. Pedro Hernandez then allowed three inherited runners to score when he gave up a grand slam to John Buck. It was the shortest outing of Worley's brief major league career. He'll look to improve his 10.50 ERA and 2.42 WHIP when he faces the struggling Angels next Wednesday. Hey, it can only get better from here.

Sat Apr 6 201322:31Worley not sharp in no-decision Saturday
Vance Worley allowed 10 hits and five runs -- four earned -- in five innings in the Twins' win over the Orioles on Saturday.
Worley is the Twins' de facto ace, but he was far from ace quality on Saturday. The 25-year-old allowed just one extra-base hit but only registered two strikeouts on the evening. A start against the Mets on Friday will be a little easier matchup, but he's still not an option outside of AL-only leagues.
