Allen (eye) returned from a four-game absence Friday against the Rockets. He started and scored 10 points (4-11 FG, 2-2 FT) and added three rebounds, six assists, two steals, and a block in 26 minutes.
Allen is known for his defensive talents, and he did not disappoint in that regard. As long as he is healthy, Allen has value in most formats, but only as a steals specialist who can contribute in rebounds and assists, but will hurt offensively.
Fri Dec 26 201418:48Tony Allen: (Eye) Will Play Friday
Allen (eye) will return to the court Friday against the Rockets, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Allen managed to practice Thursday and was thereby removed from the injury report, so his availability for Friday was somewhat expected. It's still undetermined how many minutes Allen will actually play, although he's currently averaging 25.8 minutes per game this season.
Thu Dec 25 201415:53Allen (eye) no longer listed on Grizzlies' injury list
Allen (eye) is no longer listed on the Grizzlies' injury list, The Commercial Appeal reports.
Allen missed the last four games with his eye injury, but he practiced Thursday and made it through the session without setback. With the eye injury no longer an issue, Allen figures to be in the starting lineup for Memphis' next game Friday against the Rockets.
Mon Dec 22 201419:03Tony Allen: (Eye) Out On Monday
Allen (eye) will not play on Monday versus the Jazz, Ronald Tillery of The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports.
This is the fourth straight game Allen has missed with this corneal abrasion. With the Grizzlies off until Friday after Monday, there's a chance Allen will be ready to return for the Grizzlies' next game versus the Rockets, and his defensive abilities would be greatly welcomed back for when they take on James Harden and company.
Sun Dec 21 201415:10Allen (eye) will not play against Cavaliers on Sunday
Allen (eye) will not play against the Cavaliers on Sunday, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Allen will be missing his third-straight game Sunday. His next opportunity to get on the court will be against the Jazz on Monday. In Allen's absence, Vince Carter will likely continue to see additional time on the court.

Allen (eye) is likely out Sunday against the Cavs according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst.
Allen will now likely miss three straight games with this corneal abrasion. This type of injury is not common, so his timetable to return is still a bit of a mystery. The Grizzlies have not announced any news of a longer time-table though, so continue to consider Allen day-to-day.
Fri Dec 19 201418:39Allen (eye) will miss Friday's game against Bulls
Allen (eye) will miss Friday's game against the Bulls, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Allen's corneal abrasion (scratched eye) will cuase him to miss his second striaght game. In his absence, Vince Carter and Tayshaun Prince will likely see increased minutes.
Fri Dec 19 201413:22Allen (eye) questionable to play Friday against Bulls
Allen (eye) is questionable to play Friday against the Bulls, the Grizzlies sideline reporter Rob Fischer reports.
The Grizzlies are calling the injury a corneal abrasion, which boils down to a scratched eye. Even when healthy, Allen is not a reliable fantasy option in standard leagues anyway. In his absence, Vince Carter had a solid offensive game, and could be useful if he's able to add the minutes left by Allen as he did Wednesday.
Wed Dec 17 201419:13Allen (eye) ruled out for Wednesday's game
Allen (eye) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game, Project Spurs' Paul Garcia reports.
He left towards the end of Tuesday's game with a right corneal abrasion, and in his absence Vince Carter and Tayshaun Prince should see big minutes Wednesday. Consider Allen questionable for
Tue Dec 16 201423:21Allen has right corneal abrasion and questionable for Wednesday'...
Allen has a right corneal abrasion and is questionable for Wednesday's game in San Antonio, Grizzlies reporter Rob Fischer reports.
He had two points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals in 21 minutes before exiting. His absence led to extended run for Vince Carter and Tayshaun Prince down the stretch. Continue to monitor his status leading up to Wednesday's contest.

Allen returned after missing the last two games with an illness, contributing 12 points (4-9 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five rebounds, one assist and one block in 20 minutes during the Grizzlies' 107-91 win versus the Clippers on Sunday.
Coach Dave Joerger elected to have Allen cover Chris Paul at times, with Mike Conley assigned the task of chasing J.J. Redick around, and Allen displayed his usual impressive defense while helping the Grizzlies improve to 12-2. In 12 games Allen is averaging 7.3 points (46.3 FG, 16.7 3Pt, 61.9 FT), 4.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.9 steals and 0.3 blocks in 27 minutes per game. Though his offensive contributions can be inconsistent and he lacks a three-point shot, his defense against the elite perimeter players keeps him on the court for sufficient minutes. So long as that remains the case, he may have decent value in deeper leagues.
Fri Nov 21 201419:59Allen (illness) will be active for Friday's game
Allen (illness) will be active for Friday's game, although he's not expected to play, Rob Fischer of Sports 56 WHBQ-87.7FM in Memphis reports.
Allen will technically be in uniform Friday, although it's only because the Grizzlies are required to have a certain amount of players dress out per game. His next opportunity to get on the court will be against the Clippers on Sunday.
Thu Nov 20 201416:42Allen (illness) considered questionable for Friday's game agains...
Allen (illness) is considered questionable for Friday's game against the Celtics, Rob Fischer of Sports 56 WHBQ in Memphis reports.
Allen, along with four teammates, missed Wednesday's loss to the Raptors with a stomach virus. The Grizzlies did not hold practice Thursday, so Allen's status likely won't be decided until Friday afternoon. If he can't go, expect Quincy Pondexter to make another start in his place.
Wed Nov 19 201418:39Tony Allen: (Illness) Out Wednesday
Allen (illness) has been ruled out Wednesday, CBS Sports' James Herbert reports.
One third of the Grizzlies' roster is out with a stomach virus, and Vince Carter should see all the minutes he can handle on the wing with Allen out. Consider Allen day-to-day.
Wed Nov 19 201413:24Allen (illness) questionable for Wednesday's game
Allen (illness) is questionable for Wednesday's game, Sports 56 WHBQ's Rob Fischer reports.
There is a stomach virus spreading through the Grizzlies' locker room, and Allen is the latest victim. Vince Carter would likely get the start at the three if Allen can't go Wednesday.

Allen posted six points (3-4 FG), two rebounds, one steal and one block in 18 minutes during the Grizzlies' 119-93 win versus the Rockets on Monday.
Allen picked up two quick fouls and was forced to sit early in the first quarter, Quincy Pondexter played well off the bench, and the Grizzlies blew the Rockets out of the game in the first half. The Grizzlies did not Allen to play much on this night, but even when he is relied on to play heavy minutes he doesn't hold that much value outside of deeper leagues.

Allen recorded five points (1-4 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four rebounds, three assists and five steals in 32 minutes during the Grizzlies' 97-89 win versus the Pacers on Friday.
Allen now has eight steals through two games, and while he has always been known more as a tough defender than a ball thief, his career 1.3 steals per game average has come during only 21 minutes per game. So long as he continues to receive 30 or more minutes per game, which is likely given what he brings to the defensive end, he should post solid steal totals. However, his lack of consistent scoring production typically limits his value outside of deeper leagues.
Tue Oct 21 201415:11Allen will begin regular season as starting small forward
Allen will begin the regular season as the starting small forward, the Memphis Commercial Appeal reports.
Allen and Courtney Lee played the majority of wing minutes during the playoffs versus the Thunder last season, so this announcement is not a huge surprise by any means. Despite Allen's limited range and overall inconsistency offensively, he has established himself as an elite perimeter defender in the NBA. This should help him continue to earn sufficient time at both shooting guard and small forward, but expectations should be tempered, as staying in front of your man defensively and forcing misses doesn't equate to fantasy stardom. Still, if he's able to earn close to 30 minutes per game he should be able to produce enough in the rebounding and steal categories to give him decent late-round value in deeper leagues.
Thu Jun 26 201419:18Grizzlies deny Clips' offer for Tony Allen
The Grizzlies have reportedly declined the Clippers' trade offer for SG Tony Allen.
It's unclear what L.A. was offering in return for the veteran defensive specialist. They also had interest in Arron Afflalo before he was traded to the Nuggets, so at the very least we know the Clippers are eager to acquire a starting-caliber SG.

Sat May 3 201423:26Tony Allen starts, plays well in 36 minutes
Tony Allen (eye) started on Saturday vs. the Thunder with 15 points, four boards and two turnovers in 36 minutes.
He wasn't expected to start and the Grizzlies having no punch in their second unit was costly. Interestingly, Ed Davis and James Johnson combined for just one minute tonight and coach Dave Joerger put a premium on offensive output. Allen had himself a great series, but there was just too much Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.
