Sat May 3 201418:44Tony Allen (eye) will play in Saturday's Gm 7
Tony Allen (eye) will play on Saturday but he will not be in the Grizzlies' starting lineup.
Grizzlies coach Dave Joerger hasn't revealed who will take Zach Randolph's spot in the starting lineup, but Ed Davis is listed as the 'probable starter' in the official game notes. In addition to Allen, Mike Conley (hamstring) will also be available as the short-handed Grizzlies try to upset the Thunder.

Sat May 3 201413:32Update: Tony Allen questionable w/ eye injury
Updating a previous report, Tony Allen is questionable to play on Saturday due to an eye injury he suffered in Game 6.
Allen's eye was scratched by Caron Butler and he awoke on Saturday with swelling, which the Grizzlies hope will respond to treatment. His availability is uncertain and his absence would be dreadful news for a Memphis team already playing without suspended Zach Randolph. Mike Miller, James Johnson and Courtney Lee would likely all pick up more minutes if Allen's eye forces him to the sidelines.

Sat May 3 201412:52Tony Allen questionable to play in Game 7
Tony Allen did not participate in Saturday's shootaround and coach Dave Joerger is concerned about his availability for Game 7.
It's not clear what caused Allen's absence and things could quickly go from bad to worse for Memphis, which is already dealing with Zach Randolph's suspension and Mike Conley's strained hamstring.

Fri Apr 25 201400:14Tony Allen plays well in win over OKC
Tony Allen scored 16 points during Game 3's 98-95 overtime win over the Thunder on Thursday with nine boards, three assists and two steals in 31 minutes.
He did commit a dumb foul on a Russell Westbrook halfcourt shot with the Grizzlies up four with 0.9 seconds, but Allen was great on both ends tonight. The Grizzlies were actually running plays for him -- they didn't really work -- while he played some decent defense on Kevin Durant. He's not known as the Grindfather for nothing and he personifies the style of play Memphis brings to the table.

Wed Apr 9 201409:54Tony Allen struggling at both ends for Griz
Tony Allen admitted that he's been struggling lately on both offense and defense, which has led to limited playing time off the Grizzlies' bench.
"We're sitting there with five wings and trying to figure out which [to play]," said coach Dave Joerger, explaining his decision to limit Allen's minutes. "It's been a conundrum all season long, especially since [Allen] came back [from his wrist injury] and after the [Courtney Lee] trade." The Grizzlies are one game out of the playoffs, with five games left in the regular season, so they'll need Allen to find his rhythm very quickly or risk missing the playoffs for the first time since 2009-10.

Thu Mar 27 201402:02Tony Allen scoreless in return to action
Tony Allen returned from an illness and played 10 minutes off the bench on Wednesday, missing all five of his shots and failing to score in a win over the Jazz.
Allen and Courtney Lee have become completely useless, as Mike Miller is now making noise for the Grizzlies. Make sure Allen and Lee are not in your lineup right now, and think about dropping them for a hot free agent in most instances.

Mon Mar 24 201418:29Tony Allen (illness) won't play vs. Wolves
Tony Allen will not play against the Wolves on Monday due to a stomach illness.
He has logged 21.8 minutes per game in March and the Grizzlies will likely call on a couple guys to fill the void. James Johnson and Tayshaun Prince might see a little more action while Courtney Lee has a good chance to clear the 30-minute barrier and put up a nice line against a weak defense tonight. Allen should be considered questionable for Wednesday vs. the Jazz.

Thu Mar 13 201400:28Tony Allen big off the bench for the Grizz
Tony Allen scored 13 points on 4-of-8 shooting (5-of-6 FTs) with four rebounds, three steals and one block in 25 minutes off the bench on Wednesday.
Allen has not been worth owning over the last week or so but he outproduced timeshare buddy Courtney Lee (four points, 1-of-6 FGs) tonight. Lee has been the better player to own most of the time since they've started splitting minutes and we're not going to swing the needle Allen's way after just one night. Allen is still just a speculative add in 14-team leagues at this time.

Fri Mar 7 201422:45Allen quiet in 25 minutes off the bench
Tony Allen was quiet in his 25 minutes off the bench on Friday, scoring six points on 2-of-6 shooting with five rebounds and two steals.
This is the hard part about coming off the bench, though his minutes were higher than normal tonight. Allen has been somewhat productive in his limited role, but if you have your eye on even a low-level free agent it's fine to make a move.

Wed Mar 5 201423:55Tony Allen plays well in ugly loss
Tony Allen hit 5-of-9 shots and a 3-pointer for 15 points, six rebounds and two assists in 21 minutes off the bench on Wednesday.
Starter Courtney Lee hit just 2-of-7 shots for four points and zero 3-pointers, while James Johnson scored 12 points in just 14 minutes. Allen was dealing with an illness tonight, but looked good. However, with Johnson back from an ankle injury and Lee starting, Allen could struggle for consistency going forward. But he's been playing well and we'd recommend sticking with him until the wheels come off.

Sun Mar 2 201400:27Tony Allen continues his terrific efficiency
Tony Allen's efficient run kept rolling on Saturday vs. the Cavs, shooting 7-of-10 from the field for 16 points with two boards, one block and one 3-pointer in 24 minutes.
His hand rehab must have worked wonders, shooting a pristine 70.3 percent over his five games since returning from injury to go with averages of 11.4 points, 4.6 boards, 0.8 steals, 0.6 blocks and 0.6 triples. Allen's steals, boards and field goal percentage make him worth owning in standard leagues.

Fri Feb 28 201422:49Tony Allen struggles in just 17 minutes
Tony Allen was quiet in just 17 minutes off the bench on Friday, scoring six points on 3-of-3 shooting with three rebounds, three assists and one steal.
Allen started off strong in his limited role off the bench but tonight was certainly a momentum stopper in that regard. He needs to climb back up the mountain with some consistency before 12-14 team owners should go out of their way to add him.

Thu Feb 27 201401:03Tony Allen still putting up nice offense
Tony Allen shot 8-of-13 from the field for 17 points vs. the Lakers on Wednesday with six boards and one 3-pointer in 25 minutes.
He's been outstanding since returning from his hand injury, averaging 11.7 points, 1.0 steals and 0.7 triples on 66.7 percent from the field. Allen is putting up early-round value since coming back, so he's worth owning in standard leagues right now.

Fri Feb 21 201423:28Allen (wrist) returns to action on Friday
Tony Allen (wrist) returned to action in the Grizzlies' 102-96 win over the Clippers on Friday, scoring nine points on 4-of-4 shooting with six rebounds, two steals, one block and one three in 20 minutes off the bench.
This is a highly leveraged line on the shooting front but the defensive and rebounding numbers aren't surprising and he's been a guy that has been productive in a low-minute role in the past. He isn't a must-add player by any stretch but he's worth watching or even adding in deeper formats if he's going to play like this.

Thu Feb 20 201413:01Tony Allen to wear wrist brace Friday
Tony Allen says he will play on Friday, but will do so wearing a brace on his left wrist after practicing on Wednesday.
Courtney Lee is going to possibly take a hit with the return of Allen, but could also remain in the starting lineup. It's also possible the Grizzlies could get creative and start Allen at small forward, benching a struggling Tayshaun Prince, but that's just speculation. Don't do anything drastic with Lee just yet, until we see how things play out.

Wed Feb 19 201414:57Tony Allen (hand) says he'll return on Friday
Tony Allen said he will return to the lineup for Friday's game against the Clippers.
He added he wouldn't mind coming off the bench because he doesn't "want to be disruptive." Allen's name has popped up in trade rumors and he doesn't seem very happy about it. He said "wow" on his Twitter account just moments after the rumors surfaced. The lock-down defender is worth a look for steal-needy owners for now.

Wed Feb 19 201413:27Update: Griz, Wolves hit 'snag' in trade talk
Updating previous reports, the Grizzlies are reluctant trade Tony Allen along with Tayshaun Prince to the Wolves in exchange for J.J. Barea and Chase Budinger.
CBS Sports' Ken Berger now reports that trade talks have reached a "logjam," and USA Today's Sam Amick reports that the Grizzlies are "very unlikely" to part with Allen in the proposed deal. According to Amick, Memphis may also suspect that the talks are a play for Minnesota to gain leverage in another trade discussion (one which isn't being as aggressively leaked to the media). Stay tuned.

Wed Feb 19 201411:38Report: Wolves, Grizzlies still talking trade
A potential trade sending Tony Allen and Tayshaun Prince to the Timberwolves has "gained momentum," according to Ken Berger of CBS Sports.
The basic elements of a proposed Wolves/Grizzlies trade has now been reported by multiple sources. If such a deal goes through it might involve Chase Budinger and J.J. Barea going to Memphis, where the solid play of Courtney Lee and James Johnson have made the idea of losing Allen more palatable.

Tue Feb 18 201412:00Tony Allen (wrist) out again on Tuesday
Tony Allen (wrist) will not play on Tuesday.
Allen hasn't played in six weeks and he was having trouble dribbling during non-contact workouts in early February. Wwners should consider him 'out indefinitely', and this solidifies Courtney Lee's value for at least a while longer. Allen and Tayshaun Prince were both linked to the Wolves in recent trade chatter, but as with most rumors it's far from certain anything will come of it.
