Sun Mar 16 201417:13Amir Johnson scores 20 points vs. Suns
Amir Johnson scored 20 points vs. the Suns on Sunday with two boards, two assists and one block in 33 minutes.
He did not grab a rebound until three minutes left in the fourth quarter, but the offense was definitely there with a shooting line of 9-of-12 from the field. Johnson is hot again and should be owned in all leagues. Plus, the return of Patrick Patterson (elbow) shouldn't hurt him much.

Fri Mar 14 201422:47Amir Johnson scores 12 points vs. Memphis
Amir Johnson was solid against the Grizzlies on Friday with 12 points, eight boards, two assists and two steals in 35 minutes.
This was his third game without Patrick Patterson (elbow) and his first two were a lot like this one, averaging 18.0 points, 7.0 boards, 2.0 steals, 2.5 blocks and 1.0 turnovers on 57.1 percent from the field. Johnson is back to being a must-own player and the added confidence should carry over even when Patterson comes back.

Wed Mar 12 201423:40Johnson scores 20 points in Raptors win
Amir Johnson scored 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting with nine rebounds, two steals and one block in the Raptors' 101-87 win over the Pistons on Wednesday.
Johnson is enjoying life with Patrick Patterson out and with that being the case for at least a week or so owners can plug him into all lineups. DeMar DeRozan scored a team-high 25 points on 8-of-20 shooting (8-of-9 FTs) with three rebounds, three assists, one steal and a trey, and Kyle Lowry added 19 points with four rebounds, six assists and three treys of his own in the win.

Amir Johnson scored 16 points on 8-of-14 shooting with five rebounds, two steals and four blocks over 36 minutes on Monday against the Nets.
Johnson was expected to get a bump with Patrick Patterson out for a week or so and he really made the most of it tonight. Tyler Hansbrough stepped into the backup PF minutes and put up 16 points, four boards and two steals to go with 8-of-10 free throws and might be worth a short-term look in deeper formats.

Fri Mar 7 201422:33Amir Johnson goes for nine and nine
Amir Johnson scored nine points on 4-of-4 shooting with nine rebounds and one block in Friday's win over the Kings.
Johnson got the task of defending DeMarcus Cousins a lot tonight so he had his hands full, while Patrick Patterson scored 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting (including three treys) with six rebounds, one steal and two blocks in 27 minutes against his old team. Both players have returned mid-to-late round value over the last five games so give them a look, though it will be hard for them to both keep it up at the same time.

Thu Feb 27 201423:05Amir Johnson fouls out in 43 minutes
Amir Johnson fouled out in 43 minutes of action against the Wizards with 16 points, nine boards, one steal, two blocks and one 3-pointer.
He did suffer a minor ankle tweak tonight and was able to play through it. Johnson has been battling through his ankle sprain from last month and it's cost him two games while his production has also dropped off. Hopefully he is fine for Sunday, and after logging 43 minutes tonight he should probably be picked back up by any owner seeking a big man.

Tue Feb 25 201423:12Amir Johnson plays 36 minutes in start
Amir Johnson played through a sprained ankle on Tuesday and had nine points, six rebounds, four assists, a block and a 3-pointer in 36 minutes.
Patrick Patterson came off the bench, played 25 minutes, and had three points, eight rebounds, four assists, a block and a 3-pointer on 1-of-5 shooting. They posted similar lines, but now that we know Johnson's ankle is OK and he's starting and getting more minutes, he's the guy you want to be using right now.

Tue Feb 25 201417:46Amir Johnson (ankle) will start at PF Tuesday
Amir Johnson (ankle) will be in the starting lineup on Tuesday, as expected.
He missed Monday's practice as a precaution but should be ready to go, and the biggest concern for his fantasy owners is how many minutes will be poached by backup PF Patrick Patterson.

Mon Feb 24 201413:27Amir Johnson (ankle) ready to play Tuesday
Amir Johnson (ankle) is expected to play on Tuesday.
He was held out of Monday's practice as a precaution but neither Johnson nor the team seem concerned about his latest ankle injury, which occurred when he was kicked during Sunday's game. His availability takes the shine off Patrick Patterson's fantasy value, as both PFs should continue splitting minutes.

Sun Feb 23 201420:58Amir Johnson: 'kicked in ankle,' not serious
Amir Johnson was kicked in the right ankle, according to coach Dwane Casey.
This is good news, as he didn't necessarily suffer a sprain. He's had tender ankles all season and Patrick Patterson is still going to be worth using if Johnson misses time with the injury. But for now, it doesn't sound too serious and he's day-to-day.

Sun Feb 23 201420:01Amir Johnson aggravates right ankle injury
Amir Johnson suffered a right ankle injury on Sunday and will not return.
Not good. His ankle just can't seem to stay healthy after missing two games earlier this month. Johnson's initial sprain came back in January and he's just been battling through it. He finished with 12 points, eight boards and one steal in 23 minutes. It makes a lot of sense to add Patrick Patterson in standard leagues.

Fri Feb 21 201417:23Amir Johnson back in the starting lineup
Amir Johnson will move back into the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Cavs.
He played 26.0 minutes per game off the bench in his last two games and looked like a new player thanks to the time off. Johnson was committing a lot of lazy fouls and did not have any agility earlier this month after an ankle sprain on Jan. 29, so the move back into the starting lineup indicates coach Dwane Casey feels Amir is ready to go again. We wouldn't quite say this news makes him a strong add yet, but a great game tonight might change our minds.

Tue Feb 18 201422:27Amir Johnson plays well in return from injury
Amir Johnson returned from an ankle injury and looked good, hitting 6-of-8 shots for 14 points, five rebounds, a steal and a block off the bench on Tuesday.
It remains to be seen if he'll reclaim his starting gig, but even if he does, he's going to be a in a full-blown timeshare with Patrick Patterson going forward. He looked spry and healthy tonight, so Johnson could be ready to go on a run for the Raptors, but the timeshare is going to sting.

Tue Feb 18 201411:33Amir Johnson (ankle) 'good to go' Tuesday
Raptors coach Dwane Casey confirmed that Amir Johnson (ankle) is "good to go" for Tuesday's game.
Johnson had been a mid-round fantasy value for most of the season, but in recent weeks his ankle injury and the strong play of Patrick Patterson have combined to limit him. He averaged only 6.0 points and 6.4 rebounds in 21 minutes over his previous five games, but on the plus side the Raptors have a favorable four-game schedule this week.

Tue Feb 18 201400:10Amir Johnson expected to be back Tuesday
Amir Johnson (ankle) is expected to be ready for Tuesday's game against the Wizards.
He sat out the last two games before the All-Star break due to some lingering ankle soreness. Johnson's ankle really slowed him down for the past couple weeks and the time off had to have helped him. Patrick Patterson has been fantastic and the Raptors run a lot of their offense through him on pick-and-rolls and kick-outs, so Amir might not get all of his minutes back at first.

Wed Feb 12 201417:23Amir Johnson will not play on Wednesday night
Amir Johnson (ankle) will not play against the Hawks on Wednesday.
This will be his second consecutive game out due to his sore ankle, but there is nothing structurally wrong. Johnson has looked hobbled since sustaining the injury back on Jan. 29, so more than a week off should really help. Pat Patterson should be busy in the starting lineup again after scoring a season-high 22 points on Monday.

Sat Feb 8 201410:24Amir Johnson struggling w/ ankle injury
Amir Johnson admitted after Friday's loss that he's struggling due to a nagging ankle injury.
"I feel like I can do a lot better, I'm trying to go hard out there," he said. "I feel like that nagging pain is just kind of bothering me." Fortunately for fantasy owners, Amir also said that he's used to playing hurt and will continue to do so, adding that the All-Star break will give him needed time to rest and recover. We're leaving him off the injury report, but will keep an eye out in case his ankle worsens.

Sat Feb 8 201401:38Johnson struggles again in Friday's loss
Amir Johnson struggled in Friday's loss to the Clippers, scoring eight points on 4-of-6 shooting with five rebounds, two assists and no steals or blocks in 25 minutes.
The arrival of Patrick Patterson (10 points, six boards, two steals, one block, 20 minutes) has been a brutal blow to Johnson, who has been just a 14-16 team guy for the past month. If you've been hanging on in a standard league, it's time to let go.
