Fri Sep 26 201415:07Johnson will open up training camp playing small forward
Johnson will open up training camp playing small forward, ESPN New York reports.
Johnson primarily played shooting guard for the Nets last year, but coach Lionel Hollins announced he views him as a small forward. With the departure of Paul Pierce, Johnson will move over as the starter ahead of last season's often injured Andrei Kirilenko. Alan Anderson and rookie Bojan Bogdanovic will then compete for the starting position in the void left from moving Johnson over. Although his scoring numbers went down, Johnson had a decent year last season averaging 15.8 points, 3.4 points, 2.7 assists, and 0.6 steals, in 33 minutes per game, even with him being in the thirteenth year of his career.
Wed May 14 201421:47Joe Johnson scores 34 in season-ending loss
Joe Johnson scored 34 points in a season-ending loss to the Heat on Wednesday on 15-of-23 shooting, adding seven boards, three assists, one steal and three 3-pointers in 42 minutes.
He was on fire after the break, making 9-of-10 from the field to start the half. Johnson wasn't taking easy shots or anything and the shots were just dropping for him. However, he did turn the ball over on the last possession of the game as he was stripped near the free throw line. Johnson turned in a terrific postseason, entering tonight scoring 20.0 points per game on 51.6 percent from the field. He'll likely be looking at a similar role with the Nets in his third year in Brooklyn for the 2014-15 season.

Wed May 14 201418:55Joe Johnson's left hand is fine for Wed.
Joe Johnson's left hand injury from Game 4 doesn't appear to be affecting him leading up to Game 5 on Wednesday.
There was never really a doubt for Johnson's status and he should see his normal load in the starting lineup. He was the hero in the Nets' only win in this series and he'll need to step it up tonight.

Tue May 13 201411:24Joe Johnson upset with LeBron James' flop
Joe Johnson was unhappy with what he perceived to be a flop by LeBron James during Monday's Game 4 loss to the Heat.
Johnson drove towards the basket with the Nets down three at the end of the game and was upset with the no-call on what he thought was James' sixth personal foul. "I wasn't necessarily trying to draw the foul on him but I thought he was aggressive," Johnson said after the game. "So I was just trying to use his aggressiveness against him. He flopped that last one." Regardless of what Johnson thinks, he didn't get the call and he and his Nets teammates have their backs against the wall as they Heat to Miami for a must-win Game 5 on Wednesday night.

Joe Johnson hit 7-of-10 shots and five 3-pointers for 19 points, three rebounds and six assists to lead the Nets over the Heat in Saturday's Game 3 104-90 win.
The series is now 2-1 in favor the Heat, and we're surprised JJ didn't get more shots up, given how hot he was tonight. Shaun Livingston added 12 points, four rebounds, five assists, a steal and a 3-pointer, and Kevin Garnett finally showed signs of life with 10 points and seven rebounds on 5-of-6 shooting in 23 minutes. Game 4 is Monday in Brooklyn.

Joe Johnson had 30 points, five rebounds, three assists, a steal, a block and three 3-pointers on 13-of-23 shooting in Wednesday's Game-5 loss to the Raptors.
Johnson had 18 points in the fourth quarter as the Nets went on a 32-10 run to actually tie the game late. He made the All-Star team after a shaky first half of the season, but really turned it on down the stretch to become the Nets' most reliable player.

Sun Apr 27 201422:06Joe Johnson cooled off by Raps' double-teams
Joe Johnson was held to seven points on 2-of-7 shooting on Sunday, as the Raptors relied on a steady stream off double-teams to limit his opportunities.
The Nets' backcourt struggled in a big way tonight, as Johnson, Deron Williams and Shaun Livingston combined for 26 points on 9-of-26 shooting (34.6 percent). Johnson's ability to exploit DeMar DeRozan's defense had been a key for Brooklyn through three games, and they'll have to make some adjustments in Toronto on Wednesday.

Fri Apr 25 201422:53Joe Johnson scores 29, Nets take 2-1 lead
Joe Johnson scored a team-high 29 points vs. the Raptors during Game 3's 102-98 win over the Raptors to go with two assists and three 3-pointers.
He was very efficient with a shooting line of 11-of-17 from the field and 4-of-4 from the line. Johnson uncharacteristically had six shots in the paint tonight, which is well above his season average of 2.5 per game during the regular season. He's shot a sterling 60.7 percent from the field in this series and will look to carry the momentum into Game 4 on Sunday with the Nets up 2-1.

The series heads to Brooklyn for Game 3 & 4, where the Raptors will need to win one to regain homecourt advantage.

Sat Apr 19 201415:51Joe Johnson, Deron Williams each score 24 pts
Joe Johnson and Deron Williams each scored 24 points in Saturday's road win vs. the Raptors, with Johnson connecting on 8-of-13 FGs and 8-of-8 FTs.
D-Will carried the Nets in the first half and they wisely fed Johnson while he was hot in the third quarter, but it was their locked-in team defense that earned them a tough victory. They'll try to take a stranglehold on the series with another win in Toronto on Tuesday before heading to Brooklyn for Games 3 and 4.

Wed Apr 16 201412:38Joe Johnson (calf) reportedly out Wednesday
Joe Johnson's sore calf will reportedly sideline him on Wednesday.
He played through the injury in Tuesday's loss and it doesn't sound very serious, but the Nets will err on the side of caution with the playoffs right around the corner. It sounds as though the Nets will have Alan Anderson (abdomen) back in action to fill the gaps at SG, along with Marcus Thornton and Marquis Teague.

Joe Johnson played through a sore calf on Tuesday and had 12 points, six rebounds, and four assists in 31 minutes, hitting just 3-of-9 shots.
The Nets could fall to the No. 6 seed if they lose and the Wizards win on Wednesday, so we'll have to see if Jason Kidd goes after seeding or rest for his guys tomorrow. Our guess is the old guys will get a rest and the Nets will have the No. 6 seed, but it's just a guess.

Tue Apr 15 201418:32Joe Johnson (calf) will play vs. Knicks
Joe Johnson will play on Tuesday despite a minor calf injury.
Johnson isn't worth the $48 million he'll earn over the next two seasons, but he's averaging a solid 15.8 points, 2.1 threes, 3.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists during an All-Star season in Brooklyn. Regardless of how he looks on Tuesday, fantasy owners should consider him a DNP risk in Wednesday's finale.

Fri Apr 11 201423:42Johnson a candidate for rest for the Nets
Joe Johnson scored nine points on 4-of-15 shooting (including a three) with seven rebounds and three assists in the Nets' 93-88 loss to the Hawks on Friday.
Johnson has been on a roll lately but owners should know that he's a candidate for rest down the stretch. We'll let you know if anything comes through the pipeline regarding his status but for now he can stay in lineups.

Thu Apr 10 201411:16Joe Johnson now playing at All-Star level
Joe Johnson scored 31 points on Wednesday, scored six points in the final minute and 11 points inside of the game's last three and a half minutes.
He's become the Nets' go-to guy in the fourth quarter and had a potential game-winning 3-pointer blocked by Kyle O'Quinn last night. Since March 1, Johnson is averaging 18.1 points on 50.8 percent shooting. His strong play since the All-Star break actually makes his selection to the team look better in hindsight.

Tue Apr 1 201423:07Joe Johnson makes 13-of-21 FGs for 32 points
Joe Johnson cruised to a game-high 32 points vs. the short-handed Rockets on Tuesday, draining 13-of-21 field goals with four 3-pointers, four rebounds, three assists and a steal.
The Nets' All-Star made some tough shots but he also benefited from James Harden's indifferent defense and the Rockets' lack of big men with Dwight Howard and Terrence Jones both unavailable. Joe Cool is shooting 64.3 percent from the field in Brooklyn's past three games, a nice treat for fantasy owners who've ridden him during his unlikely All-Star season.

Joe Johnson scored a team-high 27 points against the Celtics during an easy 114-98 win on Friday, adding two boards, four assists and six 3-pointers in 30 minutes.
He shot 10-of-16 from the field and didn't turn the ball over. Johnson has 12 makes from deep in his three games and is starting to turn it on again with 2.2 makes per game since the All-Star break. His owners should keep him in their lineups and hope he stays hot despite a somewhat inconsistent role.
