Interim coach Terry Porter said he expects Dante Cunningham (illness) to be able to play against the Rockets on Saturday.

The Wolves need him badly with Nikola Pekovic out and very thin with only Greg Stiemsma as their only true center. Cunningham will get minutes at the center spot and is worth owning in some deeper formats. Derrick Williams may see a ton of minutes at power forward while newly-signed Chris Johnson could be sprung into action, too.

It looks safe to say Derrick Williams is the better player to own, but Cunningham could see a boost with Nikola Pekovic dealing with a quad injury.

Derrick Williams had a quiet outing with nine points, four rebounds and two steals in 26 minutes. Williams gets the edge over Cunningham for upside, but he's been known to have duds like these.

Cunningham is going to put up low-end, workmanlike lines like these on most nights.

Derrick Williams logged a double-double off the bench Wednesday while Cunningham was quiet in his 33 minutes, but there is no plan to alter the starting lineup at this time. We still like Williams over Cunningham as the preferred add while Love is out as his upside is much higher than Cunningham's.

The minutes are important for Cunningham since he's proven to be effective in defensive stats over his career, averaging 0.5 blocks and 0.6 steals in only 17.7 minutes. Derrick Williams also could see some extra time and he had eight points and four boards in 18 minutes.

With Kevin Love (eye) unavailable, Dante Cunningham double-doubled with 12 points and 10 rebounds in a loss to the Knicks on Sunday.

Cunningham came off the bench, but he benefited from Love's absence and Andrei Kirilenko's foul trouble. With K-Love expected to play in Wednesday's home game, there's no upside here.
