Sat Jan 19 201318:52Dante Cunningham is expected to play
Interim coach Terry Porter said he expects Dante Cunningham (illness) to be able to play against the Rockets on Saturday.
The Wolves need him badly with Nikola Pekovic out and very thin with only Greg Stiemsma as their only true center. Cunningham will get minutes at the center spot and is worth owning in some deeper formats. Derrick Williams may see a ton of minutes at power forward while newly-signed Chris Johnson could be sprung into action, too.

Sat Jan 19 201312:20Dante Cunningham sick, GTD Saturday night
Dante Cunningham missed shootaround with an illness Saturday and is a game-time decision tonight against the Rockets.
The Wolves are already down Nikola Pekovic (quad contusion) and Kevin Love (broken hand), so any absences in the frontcourt are going to hurt. That said, Cunningham hasn't exactly been lighting it up as of late. Check back closer to tip-off to see if Cunningham can shake whatever bug is ailing him. If he can't go against Houston, look for Derrick Williams to take a large chunk of his minutes.

Thu Jan 17 201323:24Dante Cunningham has another rough night
Dante Cunningham shot 2-of-9 from the field for seven points with seven rebounds, one assist and one block in 32 minutes against the Clippers on Thursday.
Cunningham has been terrible on offense lately and only one of his attempts came from within 15 feet tonight. He had the same problem on Monday and shot 1-of-10 on attempts from 16-23 feet. His rebounding hasn't been very good either and he could be missing his opportunity here. It looks safe to say Derrick Williams is the better player to own, but Cunningham could see a boost with Nikola Pekovic dealing with a quad injury.

Thu Jan 17 201309:56Dante Cunningham to remain a starter
Dante Cunningham will continue to start ahead of Derrick Williams, according to acting head coach Terry Porter.
Cunningham has struggled with his shot of late, shooting just 37.6 percent over his last six games, but Porter is "not concerned about Dante's shooting." Cunningham did extra shooting drills after Wednesday's practice and is still expected to start on Thursday over Derrick Williams.

Mon Jan 14 201323:56Dante Cunningham scores 12 points Monday
Dante Cunningham shot 6-of-18 from the field on Monday for 12 points with six rebounds in 39 minutes against the Mavericks.
The 18 shot attempts were a season high, but his shot selection was terrible with only four attempts coming from within 14 feet. Cunningham hasn't been the aggressive type when it comes to scoring with only 1.7 shot attempts at the rim on the season, but he'll hold some value for his defense and considering he's played 34.8 minutes per game since Kevin Love has been out of the lineup. Derrick Williams had a quiet outing with nine points, four rebounds and two steals in 26 minutes. Williams gets the edge over Cunningham for upside, but he's been known to have duds like these.

Sat Jan 12 201301:02Cunningham scores 12 points with nine rebs
Dante Cunningham scored 12 points on 5-of-12 shooting with nine rebounds and one steal in 39 minutes on Friday.
Cunningham is going to put up low-end, workmanlike lines like these on most nights.

Thu Jan 10 201309:57Dante Cunningham to continue to start
Dante Cunningham will continue to start with Kevin Love (hand) out indefinitely.
Derrick Williams logged a double-double off the bench Wednesday while Cunningham was quiet in his 33 minutes, but there is no plan to alter the starting lineup at this time. We still like Williams over Cunningham as the preferred add while Love is out as his upside is much higher than Cunningham's.

Wed Jan 9 201323:46Cunningham plays 33 minutes, scores four
Dante Cunningham was quiet in Wednesday's loss to the Thunder with four points, five boards, one assist, one steal and one block in 33 minutes.
The minutes are important for Cunningham since he's proven to be effective in defensive stats over his career, averaging 0.5 blocks and 0.6 steals in only 17.7 minutes. His upside isn't that high and he won't be one of those guys that may prove to be one of your best pickups of the year, but he's a safe bet to produce some useful stats and he's worth a look in standard leagues.

Wed Jan 9 201301:11Dante Cunningham struggles in start
Dante Cunningham made another start on Tuesday, but got into early foul trouble to finish with six points, five rebounds and three steals on 3-of-8 shooting in 27 minutes.
Derrick Williams played just 21 minutes, but hit 7-of-13 shots and three 3-pointers for 17 points. If Cunningham doesn't turn it on soon, it could be Williams' turn to get some starts for the injured Kevin Love, who is out indefinitely with a broken hand.

Sat Jan 5 201323:26Dante Cunningham double-doubles in start
Dante Cunningham made his second start of the season on Saturday, in place of Kevin Love (hand), and he finished with 10 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, two steals, three blocks and zero turnovers in 42 minutes.
Cunningham reportedly started because the Wolves liked him matched up against LaMarcus Aldridge, but for the moment it seems he has the edge over Derrick Williams (18 points in 18 minutes). With Love potentially on the shelf for weeks, Cunningham looks like a decent speculative pickup.

Sat Jan 5 201319:00Dante Cunningham gets the start Saturday
Dante Cunningham will get the start for the injured Kevin Love (hand) on Saturday.
This news solidifies his value as a pickup with Love out due to a broken hand. Derrick Williams was the starter the last time Love broke his hand, but he was pretty bad, shooting just 35.6 percent in his nine starts. Cunningham should be picked up in some standard formats, but his upside isn't that high and this could just be a matchup play.

Thu Jan 3 201323:30Cunningham plays well in 27 minutes
Dante Cunningham played 27 minutes in Thursday's win over the Nuggets with six points, eight boards and four assists.
He picked up most of the slack with Kevin Love (hand) not able to return. In fact, Cunningham checked in at the 3:50 mark in the third quarter and played the rest of the game. Cunningham figures to be the first option for owners in deeper leagues looking to make a speculative add, but we wouldn't cut anyone with solidified value. Derrick Williams also could see some extra time and he had eight points and four boards in 18 minutes.

Sun Dec 23 201220:01Dante Cunningham has 12 & 10 for Wolves
With Kevin Love (eye) unavailable, Dante Cunningham double-doubled with 12 points and 10 rebounds in a loss to the Knicks on Sunday.
Cunningham came off the bench, but he benefited from Love's absence and Andrei Kirilenko's foul trouble. With K-Love expected to play in Wednesday's home game, there's no upside here.

Fri Dec 21 201208:55Dante Cunningham returns to action Thursday
Dante Cunningham returned from a knee injury on Thursday, scoring no points to go along with two rebounds and a block in 15 minutes.
Cunningham is in the rotation for his energy off the bench, but that doesn't make him relevant in standard fantasy formats right now.

Thu Dec 20 201218:27Dante Cunningham expected to play Thursday
Dante Cunningham (knee) is expected to play on Thursday.
Cunningham has a consistent role in the Minnesota rotation, but that doesn't equate to fantasy value. He's averaging 7.5 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.

Dante Cunningham limped back to the locker room in the first half of Tuesday's game against the Heat.
Cunningham played just 16 minutes in his last game now that the Wolves are starting to get healthy. We'll update you once we know what's wrong with his leg.

Sat Dec 15 201223:36Dante Cunningham quiet in start for K-Love
Dante Cunningham gave the Wolves four points, five rebounds and three steals in a fill-in start for Kevin Love (flu) on Saturday.
Cunningham's energy is often infectious for the Wolves, but his starting gig was muted thanks to an unusually sharp bench effort from Derrick Williams. Love is day-to-day.

Sat Dec 15 201203:12Cunningham could be worth a look
Dante Cunningham had a horrible night statistically in Friday's win, but could have an increased role if Kevin Love (thumb) misses time.
Cunningham had two points on 1-of-6 shooting with three rebounds in 20 minutes off the bench, but was a late-round value earlier in the year when Love was out. If you're in a deep format and looking for some short-term help, give him a look.

Sat Dec 8 201205:57Cunningham could see time if Pekovic is hurt
Dante Cunningham scored six points on 2-of-6 shooting with six rebounds and three steals in 23 minutes on Friday, and could see extra time if Nikola Pekovic's ankle injury keeps him out or hinders him going forward.
Cunningham was a beneficiary when Kevin Love was out and he could be worth a look in deeper formats as a speculative add.

Tue Dec 4 201222:48Dante Cunningham scores 13 in win
Dante Cunningham came off the bench for 13 points, four boards and a steal on 6-of-10 shooting in 25 minutes of Tuesday's win.
He's going to see a boost in minutes with Andrei Kirilenko sidelined, but as long as Josh Howard and the bench guards are playing so well, Cunningham's not going to be needed to do much.
