Fri Feb 21 201415:19Marcus Thornton doesn't practice Friday
Marcus Thornton did not practice on Friday because he's still waiting for the physicals on the other side.
The deal is expected to be approved before the Nets take on Golden State and Thornton should be in the lineup. He adds some 3-point shooting to the Nets, but he's not a lock to unseat Shaun Livingston for minutes. He's not worth owning in standard leagues until further notice.

Thu Feb 20 201411:25Marcus Thornton won't practice Thursday
Marcus Thornton won't practice with the Nets on Thursday, but is expected to get some work in with his new team on Friday.
The Nets are off today while traveling to Golden State for Saturday's game, but it sounds like Thornton should practice on Friday and be ready to make his debut on Saturday. It remains to be seen what his role will be, but it would not be shocking to see him replace Shaun Livingston in the starting five at some point in the near future.

Wed Feb 19 201413:56Kings trade Thornton to Nets for Terry, Evans
The Nets and Kings have completed a trade sending Jason Terry and Reggie Evans to Sacramento for Marcus Thornton.
There are no draft picks involved, and the Nets were willing to take on Thornton's $8.6 million salary next season to solidify their bench while shedding next year's salaries for Terry ($5.9 million) and Evans ($1.8 million). Thornton will likely play a reserve role to avoid disrupting the starting backcourt of Deron Williams and Shaun Livingston, and his low-percentage shooting coupled with somewhat limited playing time doesn't give fantasy owners much to hope for. He may be worth a stash if you need points and 3-pointers, but keep your expectations in check.

Wed Feb 19 201412:55Kings, Nets on the verge of three-player deal
The Kings and Nets are reportedly "on the verge" of completing a trade sending Marcus Thornton to Brooklyn in exchange for Jason Terry and Reggie Evans.
Multiple reliable sources are all saying the same thing, and it seems only a matter of time before the trade is official. Terry may get a few more minutes with the Kings if the deal goes through, but neither he nor Evans project as fantasy assets in Sacramento. Thornton's outlook is slightly better but there are no guarantees that he'll overtake Shaun Livingston for a starting job, and his 38.1 percent shooting this season is reason enough for skepticism.

Tue Feb 18 201415:24Report: Kings, Nets discuss three-player deal
The Kings and Nets are discussing a trade which would send Marcus Thornton to Brooklyn in exchange for Jason Terry and Reggie Evans, according to Yahoo!'s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The deal hasn't been agreed upon and Wojo adds, "For Sacramento and Brooklyn, this is one of several conversations officials are having with several teams." So far there's no indication that the Cavaliers and Jarrett Jack are involved -- both the Nets and Kings were rumored to have interest in Jack. Thornton's $8.1 million salary is nearly offset by Terry and Evans' combined $7.3 million salaries, and the Kings have no need for Thornton with Ben McLemore in the lineup, which lends even more plausibility to the deal. Stay tuned for updates.

Sun Feb 9 201422:39Marcus Thornton (hip) struggles in return
In his return from a hip injury on Sunday, Marcus Thornton started at SG and finished with six points on 2-of-7 shooting, one rebound, and zero assists or steals in 23 minutes.
Thornton has been slumping from the field lately, which is bad news because when he's not scoring he's not helping your fantasy team. His return sent rookie Ben McLemore back to the bench, where he notched 11 points and six boards in 25 minutes of action. Neither guy stands out as a fantasy option while they're locked into a position battle.

Sun Feb 9 201416:47Marcus Thornton (hip) will return on Sunday
Marcus Thornton (hip) will return to the lineup against the Wizards on Sunday.
He sat out on Friday after suffering hip and knee bruises at the end of the first half during Wednesday's game. Thornton's February is off to a rough start, making just 30.8 percent in his three games and he dropped his season field goal shooting to just 38.2 percent. He's certainly not a strong play in his first game back.

Sat Feb 8 201417:01Marcus Thornton iffy for Sunday w/ sore hip
Marcus Thornton (bruised right hip) is still sore and remains questionable to play vs. the Wizards on Sunday.
Thornton was limited to non-contact drills during Saturday's practice. Rookie Ben McLemore will start at SG if Thornton isn't able to play, but we saw earlier in the season that a starting job is no guarantee that McLemore will provide value -- he averaged 8.3 points on 35.2 percent shooting in 26 starts.

Fri Feb 7 201418:15Marcus Thornton out vs. Celtics on Friday
Marcus Thornton (right hip contusion) will not play against the Celtics on Friday.
He had a very ugly fall on Wednesday night and could not return to the game. Thornton also had a knee injury from the fall, but that seems to be the lesser issue. Look for Ben McLemore and Travis Outlaw to get more playing time tonight. Thornton should be considered questionable for Sunday vs. Washington.

Fri Feb 7 201414:25O.J. Mayo (illness) still a couple days away
O.J. Mayo (illness) is hopeful to return to the lineup before the All-Star break and said he was still two or three days away at least.
It took a lot out of me," Mayo said of flu. "I've been down for a week in bed, haven't been able to eat. A lot of sleeping." He's had problems with an illness since Jan. 22, but did play in the back-to-back set on Jan. 24-25. Mayo has been getting some shots up, but he still likely has some conditioning issues, which has already been a bugaboo for him even before this period out of the lineup. He can be left on almost all waiver wires while Nate Wolters and Gary Neal get a few extra minutes in the backcourt.

Thu Feb 6 201411:36Marcus Thornton questionable for Fri vs BOS
Marcus Thornton (hip) is questionable for Friday's game against the Celtics.
Thornton bruised his hip during Wednesday's win over Toronto, but received good news after the game as X-rays came back negative. "He's sore right now," said coach Michael Malone. "We're going to see how he feels in the morning, possibly get an MRI in the morning and see those results. I'm hoping that he's able to fly with us to be on the trip because he played very well in the first half and was doing some good things." We'll be updating Thornton's status as we hear more, but Ben McLemore and Travis Outlaw would stand to gain value if Thornton is unable to play Friday.

Wed Feb 5 201423:17Marcus Thornton goes to locker room
Marcus Thornton went to the locker room in the second quarter on Wednesday night after a hard fall.
He looked like he landed on his right hip and was grabbing that part of his body on the way back to the locker room. Thornton also landed on his face and elbow, so it could be a number of things. We'll update his status, but he could be out for the game because he had a bit of a limp. Stay tuned.

Sat Feb 1 201401:01Thornton hits three treys in loss to Mavs
Marcus Thornton logged 34 minutes on Friday after being benched for defensive reasons in Wednesday's game, and finished with nine points on 3-of-9 shooting, three treys and two boards.
Thornton stands a decent chance of holding onto the starting gig through the trade deadline, as the Kings would do just about anything to trade him, and they're not ready to put Ben McLemore back into the spotlight just yet. Mike Malone will yank his minutes, however, if he's not hitting his shot and/or playing defense. Nevertheless, he's worth a look if you need a 3-point shooter.

Thu Jan 30 201402:17Marcus Thornton scores two points in start
Marcus Thornton scored two points in 17 minutes against the Grizzlies on Wednesday.
He had a nice little run with Rudy Gay out of the lineup, including a 42-point explosion on Friday vs. the Pacers. Thornton has been starting for the Kings in place on the struggling Ben McLemore, but he's been too inconsistent to own in standard leagues with the Kings getting back to full strength.

Tue Jan 28 201400:02Thornton scores 11 points in another start
Marcus Thornton scored 11 points on 5-of-15 shooting (including a three) with three rebounds, two assists and one steal over 32 minutes in Monday's loss to the Jazz.
Thornton needs a little help from his teammates to get free and he just didn't have enough juice to be efficient tonight. While the Kings want to showcase him for a trade, he'll have a hard time surviving the returns of Rudy Gay and DeMarcus Cousins, who could return as soon as Wednesday.

Sun Jan 26 201423:49Marcus Thornton shoots 8-of-13 for 19 points
Marcus Thornton followed up his out-of-the-blue 42-point game with another solid outing on Sunday, making 8-of-13 shots to finish with 19 points, two rebounds and one assist.
Instant offense has been Thornton's calling card throughout his NBA career, but prior to Wednesday's game vs. the Pacers his offense was in a cryogenic state (36.0 percent shooting). Fantasy owners who rushed out to grab him should remember that he's getting far more touches with DeMarcus Cousins (ankle) and Rudy Gay (Achilles) both sidelined. With those guys day-to-day, Thornton's highlighted role in the offense may be short-lived.

Sat Jan 25 201404:36Marcus Thornton scores career-high 42 points
Marcus Thornton tied a career-high with 42 points in the Kings' overtime loss to the Pacers on Friday, hitting 16-of-27 shots (including seven threes) with five rebounds and one steal in 42 minutes.
Thornton getting hot is nothing new but there is something to be said for the Kings trying to build on this momentum with both playing time and touches so he can be traded. He's worth consideration after a line like this no matter what, but owners need to consider their options carefully and take one look at his game log before they do it. Also keep in mind that Rudy Gay and DeMarcus Cousins were both out with minor injuries.

Sun Jan 19 201421:53Marcus Thornton scoreless on 0-of-3 shooting
Marcus Thornton went scoreless on 0-of-3 shooting in another start at SG vs. the Thunder on Sunday.
Thornton's play in 12 games as a starter has been inauspicious, to say the least. He's averaging 6.3 points on 31.4 percent shooting with 2.9 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.8 turnovers per game. It's a far cry from the explosive offense we once saw from Thornton, who belongs on the waiver wire despite his hold on the starting job.

Fri Jan 17 201423:10Thornton out of sync in Sacramento
Marcus Thornton continued to struggle despite starting at shooting guard, scoring just five points on 2-of-4 shooting with not much else in 25 minutes.
Thornton is extremely out of sync with his teammates and while there might be an explosion or two here or there he's simply a bad bet in fantasy leagues right now.

Tue Jan 14 201422:07Marcus Thornton quiet in start, 28 minutes
Marcus Thornton started again on Tuesday and played 28 minutes, but hit just 3-of-7 shots for seven points, four rebounds and a 3-pointer.
The minutes are coming along and as long as he's starting, there's hope that he can get this season turned around and start scoring again. He's not worth much right now, but it would not be surprising to see him get hot at some point in the near future if his role doesn't change.
