Fri Sep 28 201213:50Ray Allen to 'manage' ankle injury in-season
Ray Allen said he will "manage" his ankle throughout the season.
Allen revealed that the "issue likely will be ongoing," but he had offseason surgery and he hasn't been limited from participating in any workouts or activities to date. Allen, now 37, should be able to remain relatively healthy barring any setbacks or aggravations.

Thu Sep 27 201213:19Ray Allen not at 100 percent health yet?
Coach Erik Spoelstra said that Ray Allen is not 100 percent.
However, Spoelstra did add that he wouldn't notice Allen's at less than 100 percent, an indication that whatever the issue is should be considered very minor. We're not worried about his health and fantasy owners have no reason to be, either.

Sun Aug 12 201217:08Ray Allen (ankle) probable for training camp
Ray Allen said recently that his surgically-repaired ankle is "75 to 80 percent healthy," and he expects to be ready for the start of training camp.
Allen had bone spurs removed from his ankle and should be fine for next season -- he works as hard as anyone to stay in shape, and prior to last year had missed just 16 games total over the previous four seasons.

Wed Aug 1 201219:10Doc Rivers says Allen left Celtics b/c of him
Doc Rivers said on Wednesday that although Ray Allen wasn't a huge fan of Rajon Rondo, he left the Celtics for Miami because of the decisions made by Rivers.
"People can use all the Rondo stuff - and it was there, no doubt about that - but it was me more than Rondo," said Rivers. "I'm the guy who gave Rondo the ball. I'm the guy who decided that Rondo needed to be more of the leader of the team. That doesn't mean guys liked that - and Ray did not love that - because Rondo now had the ball all the time." It also didn't help that Rivers brought Allen off the bench behind Avery Bradley, either. It really doesn't matter anymore, but it's clear that Allen was not thrilled with Rondo's role as the Celtics' point guard and ball handler.

Mon Jul 23 201217:26Heat to host Celtics on opening night 2012-13
The Heat will reportedly host the Celtics in Miami on October 30, opening night of the 2012-13 season.
This was a foregone conclusion given the recent playoff rivalry between the Celtics and Heat, as well as the juicy sub-plot of Ray Allen defecting to Miami. The league's schedule-makers also included a Finals rematch on Christmas Day, when the Heat will host the Thunder.

Sun Jul 15 201215:55Ray Allen's contract only spans two years
Ray Allen's contract with the Heat only spans two years, with the second year a player option.
The deal was originally reported as three years, and the change is worth noting -- Allen is earning the mini-mid-level, worth about $3.2 million next summer, so there's a possibility he could opt out after the season and become a free agent.

Sun Jul 15 201209:29Ray Allen publicly thanks fans
Ray Allen placed an ad in the Sunday edition of the Boston Globe, thanking Celtics fans and expressing his love for the community.
This was a classy move by Allen, who recently drew some ire for signing with the Heat.

Wed Jul 11 201211:14Heat officially sign Ray Allen to 3-year deal
The Heat officially signed Ray Allen on Wednesday.
Allen, who will wear No. 34, will earn about $9.5 million over three seasons. Miami's rivals can't be too comfortable with the idea of Allen planted in 3-point territory, spreading the court, while LeBron and D-Wade slash into the paint, and the Heat's odds of repeating as champions just got even better. He had ankle surgery in mid-June but he will be ready for training camp.

Fri Jul 6 201221:40Confirmed: Ray Allen heading to South Beach
Heat owner Micky Arison tweeted Friday, "Its 2:30am in London and I was just woken up with great news. Welcome to the family #20!!," which of course was Ray Allen's jersey number for the Celtics.
Yahoo's Marc Spears just confirmed that Allen has come to an agreement with Miami, and this is a huge move with ramifications for both the Celtics and Heat. In Miami, we expect Allen to play at a similar level than he was prior to the ankle issues, and assuming there aren't major additions in South Beach his fantasy value shouldn't evaporate in the wake of the Big Three. The Celtics will now need to look elsewhere in their attempts to reload instead of rebuilding.

Fri Jul 6 201217:02Report: Ray Allen torn between Celtics, Heat
Unrestricted free agent Ray Allen is torn on whether to leave the Celtics, sources tell ESPN.com.
Allen left his meeting with the Heat on Thursday night without giving them an answer. The Celtics have offered a two-year, $12 million deal that includes a no-trade clause. The most the Heat can offer is their mid-level exception, up to three years and $9.5 million. The Timberwolves are also reportedly in the mix, but are a longshot at best. There's no timetable on a decision right now.

Fri Jul 6 201215:18T'Wolves emerge as darkhorse for Ray Allen
Ric Bucher is reporting that the Timberwolves have entered the Ray Allen sweepstakes, albeit as a very deep darkhorse.
If Allen doesn't take his talents to South Beach or re-sign with the Celtics, the Timberwolves are said to have some interest in talking to the free agent sharp shooter. It would be a major shocker if Allen doesn't re-up with the Celtics or sign with the Heat, but stranger things have happened. Stay tuned.

Thu Jul 5 201219:26Allen to stay overnight in Miami for meeting
Ray Allen will stay overnight in Miami to setup another day of talks after meeting with the team on Thursday.
Allen had a meeting with the Clippers that is now cancelled after they signed Jamal Crawford. It still sounds like a 50/50 proposition that he lands in Miami or Boston.

Thu Jul 5 201214:30Ray Allen now looking at Heat, Celtics
The Clippers canceled their scheduled meeting with Ray Allen after coming to a multiyear agreement with free agent SG Jamal Crawford on Thursday.
Allen will meet with the Heat on Thursday, and all indications are that he will play with LeBron James and Dwyane Wade in Miami next season. The Celtics are also still in the running for Allen, but it sounds like the Heat might close the deal tonight.

Thu Jul 5 201212:28Clippers hold advantage in race for Ray Allen
Ray Allen could still return to the Celtics, but is also being courted by the Heat and Clippers, and it sounds like the Clippers may have the best shot at landing him.
With Wade commanding nearly all the minutes at shooting guard in Miami, Allen's role would be somewhat minor, while the Heat are also not in a position to offer Allen as much as the Clippers. Allen could potentially start at SG for the Clips, play with Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, and make more money in L.A. than he would in Miami or Boston. He's meeting with the Heat on Thursday and the Clippers on Friday, but we'd be surprised if he doesn't end up choosing the Clippers (and money) over the Celtics and Heat.

Wed Jul 4 201222:48Ray Allen to agree w/ Heat on Thursday?
Dwyane Wade and LeBron James said on Twitter Wednesday that Thursday is a "big day" for the Heat, implying that they might be on the verge of agreeing to terms with Celtics SG Ray Allen.
"2morrow is a big day for ‪#HeatNation," Wade tweeted, which was later retweeted by LeBron. If the Heat sign Allen, it's possible Wade could spend a decent amount of time at small forward next season, while Allen would give the Heat a solid 3-point presence every night. ‬

Tue Jul 3 201208:57Ray Allen to visit Heat on Thursday
Free agent Ray Allen will visit the Miami Heat on Thursday and the Clippers on Friday.
He's also being courted by the Grizzlies and Timberwolves, but no meetings have been scheduled. There's still a decent chance he'll end up back in Boston next season, but it really depends on how much sweet talking he hears in Miami and Los Angeles.

Sun Jul 1 201209:52Celtics willing to offer Ray two years, $12m
The Celtics are reportedly willing to give Ray Allen a two-year, $12 million contract, double the annual salary the Heat can offer.
Miami is restricted to offering the mini-mid-level and it's hard to imagine Allen taking a huge pay cut for a perceived competitive advantage with the Heat. The Suns and a handful of other teams are reportedly interested in him also, but with KG back in Boston and a solid offer on the table, don't be surprised to see him in a green jersey next year.

Sat Jun 30 201218:48Grizzlies will offer Ray Allen full mid-level
The Grizzlies intend to offer Ray Allen their full mid-level exception, roughly $5 million, once free agency begins on Sunday morning.
Allen will also be offered Miami's $3 milion mid-level exception, the Suns have tons of cap space and may be interested, and the Celtics still hope to re-sign him. The teams who miss out on Ray will probably set their sights on other free agent guards such as Randy Foye, Nick Young, Jamal Crawford, and the Grizzlies' own O.J. Mayo.

Sat Jun 30 201213:00Heat make Ray Allen their primary FA target
The Heat have made Ray Allen their "prime offseason target" and intend to pursue him the moment free agency begins at 12:01am ET on Sunday.
Heat players have been wooing Allen privately, and the chance to win another championship will be alluring, but Miami can only offer the $3 million mini-mid-level exception. Allen has given no indications about which team he's favoring (constant rumors notwithstanding) and it's worth noting that the Celtics, who hold his Bird Rights, could pay him significantly more money.

Thu Jun 28 201217:15Suns interested in free agent Ray Allen
The Suns are reportedly interested in 37-year old free agent Ray Allen.
Adrian Wojnarowski writes that the Heat are not considered the leaders for Allen's services, throwing some water on previous reports to the contrary. Aside from Allen's connections to the Phoenix front office and the benefit of having one of the league's best training staffs, it's odd that the Suns would choose to rebuild in this manner.
