Thu Jan 2 201418:53Chris Andersen (back, neck) will play vs. GSW
Chris Andersen (back, neck) will be active for Thursday's game vs. the Warriors.
While this is great news for Miami's second unit, it's irrelevant in standard fantasy leagues. Andersen is shooting a career-best 63.5 percent from the field this year but he's only attempting 3.9 shots per game, to go along with 4.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks.

Sat Dec 28 201320:38Chris Andersen won't play on Saturday
Chris Andersen (back) will not play against the Blazers on Saturday.
This will be his second game in street clothes after suffering a back injury on Christmas. Andersen has some back problems in his past and is not worth owning in most leagues. Chris Bosh and Udonis Haslem will get some more playing time.

Fri Dec 27 201320:40Chris Andersen (back) out on Friday night
Chris Andersen (back) will not play against the Kings on Friday.
The Heat went with Udonis Haslem to fill the void left by Andersen during Wednesday's game against the Lakers. Haslem is only worth a look in very deep leagues while Andersen has been more of a specialist for blocks in deep leagues. He should be considered questionable for Saturday's game vs. Portland.

Fri Dec 27 201315:05Chris Andersen doubtful for Friday
Chris Andersen (back) missed shootaround and is expected to miss Friday's game against the Kings.
He injured his back on Christmas Day and the Heat will have to replace his 18.0 minutes per game. Udonis Haslem was back in the rotation on Wednesday, so he will likely be the main guy that needs to step up.

Wed Dec 25 201319:02Chris Andersen (back) out for game
Chris Andersen suffered a back injury and will not return to Wednesday's game against the Lakers.
He's dealt with back injuries before and the severity or specifics of his stiff back are not yet known. Andersen is coming off a season-high 12 points on Monday, but he's not really worth owning outside of being a blocks specialist in deep leagues. Udonis Haslem will get more minutes while the Birdman is out.

Mon Dec 23 201323:56Chris Andersen scores season-high 12
Chris Andersen scored a season-high 12 points with nine boards, two assists and two blocks in 25 minutes during a 121-119 overtime win.
It's his eighth game in double-figure scoring and he got to the line six times tonight, making six of those. Andersen doesn't really have much consistency in the frontcourt and won't have much value in fantasy outside of his 1.2 blocks per game.

Sat Dec 7 201323:19Birdman returns from absence w/ three blocks
Chris Andersen returned from a one-game personal absence to score nine points with four rebounds and three blocks in 20 minutes off the bench vs. Minnesota.
The Birdman was efficient and got more playing time than usual once Miami took a commanding 16-point lead into the fourth quarter. He remains, as ever, a shot-blocking specialist.

Sat Dec 7 201311:41Chris Andersen rejoins Miami Heat
Chris Andersen has rejoined the team after missing Thursday's game.
Andersen missed Thursday's matchup with Chicago due to a personal matter. He with the Heat in Minnesota and is expected to suit up for Saturday's game. Minnesota gives up the fourth most blocks per game, so look for Andersen to get more than his average 1.1 blocks.

Thu Dec 5 201313:33Chris Anderson (personal) out Thursday night
Chris Anderson will miss Thursday's game against Chicago due to personal reasons and will rejoin the team for Saturday's game in Minnesota.
The Birdman isn't much of a fantasy option, but he has been averaging 1.1 blocks in 17.1 minutes per game this season so there will be a void to fill for the Heat frontcount. Michael Beasley and Shane Battier should see increased run on Thursday and both could make for sneaky plays for daily leagues.

Sat Oct 19 201322:10Chris Andersen (foot) active on Saturday
Chris Andersen, who has been dealing with a foot injury during the preseason, finished Saturday's exhibition with six points and three rebounds off the bench.
The Birdman may not be 100 percent healthy, but he's on pace to play in Miami's season opener. He's been cleared of all pending off-court legal problems and should have a productive season filling the same 15-minute bench role he had last year, which resulted in averages of 4.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.0 blocks.

Thu Oct 17 201316:42Chris Andersen is dealing with a foot injury
Chris Andersen is dealing with a foot injury this preseason.
He had a left foot injury back in February 2012, so this is nothing new for him. Andersen's injury is not serious, but it is just another indication of how fragile their center spot is, so having Joel Anthony could help. Anthony, Andersen and Greg Oden are not worth drafting in most leagues.

Thu Oct 10 201322:39Chris Andersen returns from foot issue
Chris Andersen played eight minutes in his return from a foot injury and failed to score Thursday.
He pulled down three boards and only took one shot, which was a 3-pointer. The Heat are going to need Birdman off the bench with Greg Oden still not ready to return. Andersen is only an option in deep leagues.

Mon Oct 7 201318:06Chris Andersen (foot) sidelined on Monday
Chris Andersen will sit out Miami's exhibition on Monday with a foot injury.
He's out because of blisters and this sounds like yet another precautionary preseason DNP. The Birdman will look to reprise his role from 2012-13, when he averaged 4.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in under 15 minutes per game.

Wed Sep 18 201320:31Birdman a victim of internet impersonation
Heat big man Chris Andersen will not be charged in connection to a 2012 charge of child pornography, as it turns out he was the victim of an internet impersonation scheme.
Birdman didn't play in the last two playoff games for the Nuggets in 2012 after the Colorado Internet Crimes Against Children unit searched his home in relation to an ongoing investigation related to child pornography, but was also never charged. It has come to light that a woman in Canada was impersonating Andersen online, which led to the original investigation into Birdman's activities. His name has finally been officially cleared and he'll go back to coming off the Heat bench this season as a defensive, rebounding and shot-blocking specialist.
