Tue Mar 4 201422:43Spencer Hawes drops 20 points, 13 boards
Spencer Hawes had his highest-scoring game with the Cavs on Tuesday with 20 points during a 122-101 loss to the Spurs, adding 13 boards, one assist, one steal, one block and three 3-pointers.
His numbers have not fallen off whatsoever with his new team and he's really been a nice fit for the Cavs offense. Hawes averaged 16.0 points, 9.4 boards, 1.0 blocks, 0.4 steals and 2.6 triples in his last five games, so his owners should have him locked and loaded in all lineups. Chances are Anderson Varejao's return shouldn't hurt Hawes too much.

Tue Mar 4 201410:08Mike Brown likely to stick with Spencer Hawes
Mike Brown is likely to stick with a starting lineup that includes Spencer Hawes.
With Anderson Varejao getting closer to returning, Mike Brown sounds like a coach who has already made up his mind. "My intentions are to keep doing what we're doing," Brown said. "The way [Hawes] plays is what we needed from one of our bigs. His passing ability, his shooting ability, his intelligence and toughness - all those things we saw in him." Hawes has kept his season averages similar in his six games with the Cavs and is averaging 13.8 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.3 blocks per game with his new team. Anderson Varejao might cut into Hawes' stats a bit when he returns from a back injury, but Hawes' owners should continue to get solid production from the big man for the rest of the season.

Mon Mar 3 201415:41Spencer Hawes likely to stay as starter
Spencer Hawes is likely to stay in the starting lineup even when Anderson Varejao (knee) can return, according to coach Mike Brown on Monday.
The move makes sense for the Cavs. Varejao's knee injury will likely take some time before he can get back into the swing of things and he's also logged plenty of minutes at power forward off the bench back when Andrew Bynum was on the team. It sounds like Hawes should be able to hold solid value the rest of the way with his new team.

Fri Feb 28 201422:16Spencer Hawes goes off again in win
Spencer Hawes kept up his productive ways against the Jazz on Friday with 13 points, 16 boards, two assists, one steal, two blocks and one 3-pointer in 37 minutes.
Well, so much for the drop in stats for Hawes. In his five games with the Cavs, he averaged 14.0 points, 10.4 boards, 2.2 assists, 1.4 blocks, 0.2 steals and 1.8 triples on 45.2 percent from the field and 83.3 percent from the line. He's a must-start player and chances are he'll still be able to put up mid-round value even once Anderson Varejao comes back.

Wed Feb 26 201423:15Spencer Hawes goes for 19 & 7, three 3's
Spencer Hawes hit 8-of-18 shots for 19 points, seven rebounds and three 3-pointers in Wednesday's win over the Thunder.
He's the starting center in Cleveland until further notice and is playing well, averaging 17.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 3-pointers in his two starts for the Cavs. Anderson Varejao might hurt him a bit once he's back in action, but as long as Hawes is starting, it looks like he's going to be a solid fantasy starter.

Tue Feb 25 201423:35Spencer Hawes with 15 & 7 in start for Cavs
Spencer Hawes moved into the starting five on Tuesday and had 15 points, seven rebounds, a block and three 3-pointers in a loss to the Raptors.
This is essentially what he's been doing all season in Philly, although we've yet to see what he'll do once Anderson Varejao is back from his knee/back injury. Reports indicate that Varejao will come off the bench, so it's quite possible that Hawes will hold his value the rest of the way.

Tue Feb 25 201417:35Spencer Hawes expected to start at center
Spencer Hawes is expected to start at center vs. the Raptors on Tuesday.
Tyler Zeller had been manning the middle with Hawes adjusting to his new team and Anderson Varejao (back, knees) still on the sidelines, but it was only a matter of time before Hawes took the job. He's likely to continue starting even when Varejao returns to action, so fantasy owners can expect reliable value for the rest of the regular season. In his first two games with Cleveland, Hawes averaged 11.5 points, 11.0 rebounds and 2.0 blcoks in just under 30 minutes per game.

Sun Feb 23 201420:47Spencer Hawes puts up 16 and 12 vs. Wizards
Spencer Hawes turrned in his second consecutive positive game with the Cavs on Sunday with 16 points, 12 boards, four assists, one block and one 3-pointer in 32 minutes.
He put up seven points, 10 boards and three blocks on Friday, so maybe the move from Philly won't be so bad. Anderson Varejao's health has suddenly become a slippery slope again and he could be looking at extended time off. Plus, Tristan Thompson's minutes are not untouchable by any stretch and Tyler Zeller starting really only matters for the introductory lineups right now. While he's going to lose some value, Hawes should still be able to put up decent numbers in standard leagues.

Fri Feb 21 201411:09Hawes to start ahead of Varejao?
Beat writer Bob Finnan expects Spencer Hawes to start ahead of Anderson Varejao (day-to-day, back).

Thu Feb 20 201418:06Spencer Hawes will be available Friday
Newly acquired Cavs C Spencer Hawes will be available for Friday's game against the Raptors.
The Cavs didn't even make Hawes take a physical, so the trade is official. He'll be needed right away with Anderson Varejao (back) sidelined and Tyler Zeller somewhat overmatched as a starter. However, Hawes' long-term value has taken a hit as he goes from a starter with the talent-starved Sixers to a likely backup on team with a fistful of scoring options. The Cavs have listed Varejao as day to day and don't appear overly concerned by his injury.

Thu Feb 20 201410:00Report: Spencer Hawes traded to Cavaliers
Philadelphia center Spencer Hawes has been traded to the Cavaliers, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.
The Sixers will get two second-round picks in return for the center, who is averaging 13.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.3 blocks on the season. With Anderson Varejao's current back injury the Cavs have been starting Tyler Zeller at center, and Hawes should be an upgrade. But once Varejao is healthy, Hawes' fantasy value is going to take a hit. This also means Zeller's fantasy run has likely come to an end, while the Sixers will be forced to turn to Lavoy Allen, Arnett Moutrie and Daniel Orton at center until Nerlens Noel is ready to play through his knee injury.

Thu Feb 20 201409:32Stein: Cavs taking a look at Spencer Hawes
Marc Stein is reporting the Cavaliers may be interested in acquiring Sixers center Spencer Hawes.
This one makes a ton of sense, as the Cavs have been starting Tyler Zeller at center since Anderson Varejao went down with a back injury. While Zeller has played well, Hawes would be a big upgrade for the Cavs, who are making a serious playoff push after winning six straight games.

Tue Feb 18 201422:53Spencer Hawes awful in loss to Cavaliers
Spencer Hawes hit just 1-of-6 shots for two points, six rebounds, three assists and two blocks in 29 minutes on Tuesday.
Evan Turner hit 3-of-14 shots and Thaddeus Young was just 6-of-16, leaving the Sixers "Big 3 Trade Candidates" a combined 10-of-36 from the floor in yet another blowout loss. And if Hawes is traded at the deadline, things are likely to get even worse, although Hawes has been much better than this on most nights.

Sun Feb 16 201419:35Report: Trade talk slow during All-Star break
An unnamed NBA executive told CBS Sports that trade talk during All-Star weekend, "[has been] as slow as it's been in a long time."
According to well-connected NBA writer Ken Berger, "A lot of teams have made it known which players they are open to moving, but the problem is finding trade partners. Very few teams are willing to part with premium draft picks or take on future salary, which are the two key drivers for trades." This doesn't mean that their won't be a flurry of deals before the Feb. 20 deadline, but for now GMs seem reticent to tip their hands.

Thu Feb 13 201402:02Spencer Hawes goes for 16 & 11 vs. Jazz
Spencer Hawes bounced back from a two-game funk and hit 6-of-16 shots and two 3-pointers for 16 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks on Wednesday.
Hawes had totaled just six points, eight rebounds and zero blocks over his previous two games, but came through against the Jazz tonight. His days in Philly could be numbered if trade rumors turn out to be true, and it's hard to see him having nearly as much value with almost any other team he might play for.

Mon Feb 10 201400:13Spencer Hawes goes 0-of-8 in rout vs. Clips
Spencer Hawes missed all eight of his field goals in a scoreless performance during the Sixers' blowout loss to the Clippers on Sunday.
Hawes grabbed two rebounds and there were no redeeming aspects to this game from Philly's point of view. They've lost six consecutive games and will try to end the skid in Golden State on Monday, where Hawes may have an easier time if David Lee (shoulder, hip) and Andrew Bogut (shoulder) still aren't ready to play.

Fri Feb 7 201423:14Hawes double-doubles against the Lakers
Spencer Hawes scored 15 points on 5-of-11 shooting (including three 3-pointers) with 11 rebounds and three assists in the Sixers' 112-98 loss to the Lakers on Friday.
This is owners' last chance to formulate sell-high offers including Hawes, who is the most likely of the Sixers' trio of trade assets including Evan Turner (15 points, seven boards, three treys, three assists, two steals) and Thad Young (five points, 2-of-9 FGs, four boards, three assists) to be able to return a first round pick. Owners will have to gauge for themselves how likely it is that Hawes gets traded, as that is by far the biggest driver of his value playing in fantasy friendly Philly, and wheel-and-deal accordingly.

Fri Feb 7 201409:52Report: Sixers hope to deal Hawes for a pick
Sources tell ESPN's Marc Stein that the Sixers continue to hold out hope they can land a future first-round pick in exchange for Spencer Hawes or Evan Turner.

Wed Feb 5 201422:25Spencer Hawes goes for 13 & 14 in loss
Spencer Hawes double-doubled with 13 points, 14 rebounds, a steal and three blocks in Wednesday's loss to the Celtics.
He had gone three straight games without hitting double figures in point or rebounds, so tonight was good to see. He'll try to keep it going against the short-handed Lakers on Friday.

Mon Feb 3 201422:53Spencer Hawes plays poorly in loss to BK
Spencer Hawes scored eight points with six boards, eight boards, one block and two 3-pointers in 35 minutes against the Nets on Monday.
He was very turnover prone tonight with six of them and it was a big reason why the Sixers couldn't pull out the win. Hawes matched his career high with his four six-turnover game of his career. He's struggled a bit in his last three, but there's no reason to worry due to his body of work this season.
