After being suspended in the opener, Nene has had 34 points, 10 boards, nine assists, and six steals in his last two games. The oft-injured forward may be good sell-high trade bait if he stays on the court for a few more games.

Nene has been suspended for one regular season game for leaving the bench area during an altercation in Monday's preseason game versus the Bulls, Yahoo! Sports reports.

Nene was rested by coach Randy Wittman for Monday's game, but will still be disciplined for his action during a run-in between teammate Paul Pierce and Bulls' center Joakim Noah. As a result, Nene will miss Washington's season opener against the Heat, which should allow Kris Humphries to start at power forward in his Wizards' debut.

With it being early in the preseason, the Wizards likely just want to avoid putting any extra wear on his tires, and Nene's absence gives them a chance to get a better look at their offseason acquisitions.

Nene has committed to playing for the Brazilian national team this summer in the 2014 FIBA World Cup.

Nene received national criticism for sitting out the FIBA Americas Tournament, despite the fact he was nursing a sore left foot. His injury history is well documented, only playing a full 82-game season once and missing 29 games this year with an Achilles and knee injury. Still, Nene feels a deep sense of responsibility in representing his country. "I have responsibility," he said. "I have a lot of children who look for me, so I need to do the right thing."

Nene has been slumping in the Wizards' second-round series vs. Indiana, averaging 10.2 points on 35.9 percent shooting, 4.2 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 30 minutes per game.

His lackluster play is a stark contrast with the first round, when he torched Joakim Noah and the Bulls, and coach Randy Wittman has trimmed Nene's minutes to the mid-20s over the past two games. His 5-of-14 shooting at the charity stripe hasn't helped his cause and Washington can only hope that he finds a groove during another potential elimination game on Thursday.

Nene suffered a sprained ankle in the first quarter of Wednesday's loss and returned in the second quarter, finishing with 14 points, five boards, two assists and one block in 36 minutes.

He didn't look to roll his ankle too badly and he just needed to be re-taped. Nene isn't the most durable player in the league and perhaps his ankle swells up on him, but he should be ready for Game 3 on Friday night.

Nene said that he was "in ecstacy" while watching the Wizards' spirited Game 4 effort, which resulted in a victory that gave Washington a commanding 3-1 series lead. The Bulls have struggled to control Nene in the series and he's looked fine while playing heavy minutes, so he could be in for another big night on Tuesday.

Nene has officially been suspended for Sunday's Game 4 for grabbing Jimmy Butler's neck, head-butting him and attempting to throw him down.

It's debatable whether Nene actually head-butted Butler, but he definitely went overboard with his actions and appeared to take a swing once the two were separated, so the suspension comes as no surprise. It's a crushing blow for the Wizards, but on the plus side Marcin Gortat seems to have avoided punishment for leaving the bench during the brief fight. Gortat and Trevor Booker will both see their roles increase in Game 4, while guys like Drew Gooden and Kevin Seraphin may also be called upon in Nene's absence.
