Sat Nov 12 202207:03Jamal Murray Bags First Double-Double Since Return
Denver Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray registered his first double-double since returning to action, notching 14 points and 10 assists in Friday's heavy loss to Boston. It's his first double-double since March 2020. Murray also logged a season-high 35 minutes, so this game should be very encouraging for fantasy managers. Denver's star guard shot 6-for-17 from the field with a 1-for-5 effort from behind the arc and added four rebounds to his tally without committing a single turnover. Murray has so far been able to get 15.5 points this season with 3.6 rebounds and 4.5 assists while averaging fewer than 29 minutes a night. He has received a significant boost in playing time this month and it sure looks like Murray is close to getting back to his best. However, he could lose some momentum in the next matchup, as it comes against the Bulls, who have the third-best defensive record in the league against point guards.

Fri Nov 4 202210:07Jamal Murray Scores 24 Points In Win
Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray looked like he didn't have any injuries bothering him on Thursday night. The former seventh-overall pick has started to show his scoring prowess once more in the last couple of games. During their win over the Oklahoma City Thunder, he dropped 24 points, five rebounds, and two assists, on 8-for-19 shooting overall and 4-for-6 from beyond the arc. Patience is the biggest virtue with Murray in fantasy basketball. After missing all of last season, he was bound to have some rust to shake off before being as valuable as a fantasy asset as he once was.

Mon Oct 31 202209:58Jamal Murray Scores Season-High 21 Points
Denver Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray posted his new scoring record for the season in Sunday's loss to the Lakers, hitting 9-for-21 from the field en route to 21 points. He was 3-for-7 with the three-ball and capped off his line with four rebounds, five assists and one turnover in 32 minutes. This was the first time Murray hit 30 minutes in a game this season as he continues to work his way back from a knee injury. It should be seen as a very encouraging sign, although Murray's numbers show that he is still far away from his best, as he's been getting only 13.8 points per game with 2.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists.

Thu Oct 20 202219:55Jamal Murray Questionable For Friday Night
Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray (knee) is listed as questionable for Friday as the team continues injury management for his left knee. To go along with the injury management, Murray still has to shake off a considerable amount of rust. Wednesday night was his first game since April of 2021. Once he gets a few more games back under his belt, fantasy managers should start to see him return to form. For right now, stay tuned to see if he experiences any setbacks that would keep him out of the next game.

Wed Oct 19 202220:47Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr. Starting In Season Opener
Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray and forward Michael Porter Jr. are in the starting lineup for Wednesday's season opener against the Utah Jazz. Both players will be returning after lost seasons in 2022. It'll be interesting to see how the Nuggets handle their playing time going forward. The expectation is that both players will be somewhat limited in order to try and keep them on the court. It's also worth noting that Nikola Jokic is starting despite dealing with a wrist injury during the preseason. Fantasy managers should feel comfortable starting all three of them on Wednesday.

Fri Oct 7 202221:19Jamal Murray Limps To Locker Room
Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray (hamstring) was seen limping to the locker room during Friday's preseason matchup against the Chicago Bulls. This is concerning after Murray missed basically all of last season due to a torn ACL in 2021. It sounds like this is a non-related hamstring issue, but those do have a tendency to linger. The Nuggets are likely going to be cautious with Murray early in the season. Although, he'll have fantastic fantasy value, assuming he can eventually get back to full speed.

Mon Sep 26 202221:44Jamal Murray Feels Back To Normal
Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray (knee) reportedly feels normal and he's excited to get back on the court this season. He did not play at all last season while he recovered from an ACL tear in his left knee. The Nuggets are going to be cautious with Murray right away. He's expected to play during the preseason, but he won't be out there for every preseason game. Fantasy managers shouldn't be shocked if the Nuggets decide to have Murray on a minutes limit to begin the season. Despite that, Murray should hold top-30 value once he's able to get back to full strength.

Sat Aug 20 202221:41Jamal Murray Aiming To Play During Preseason
Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray (knee) hopes to return for the team's first preseason game. The 25-year-old has been out of commission for well over a year after suffering a torn left ACL. Unquestionably, Murray is one of the most talented fantasy producers at the position. He finished the 2020-21 campaign by averaging a career-high 21.2 points and shooting 40.8% from deep while adding 4.8 assists, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.3 steals. However, he has missed more than enough games throughout his last two seasons. There's also a chance Murray will be eased back into things to begin the year, so it may take some time before he returns to form. In the meantime, Bones Hyland could be in line for an increased workload.

Thu Jul 14 202210:06Jamal Murray To Be Limited At Start Of Season
Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone spoke about star guard Jamal Murray (knee) on NBA TV on Wednesday. He stated that Murray wouldn't play in every single game to start the 2022-23 season, and that he'll be playing under 30 minutes per game when he's on the floor. This news isn't particularly surprising, as the team has continued to bring Murray along slowly ever since he tore his ACL in April of last year. He still has a chance to be a huge fantasy difference-maker next year, particularly late in the 2022-23 season, when he'll hopefully have his restrictions lifted.

Thu Apr 28 202212:12Jamal Murray Expected To Start Slow Next Season
Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray (knee) was unable to suit up for his team during the postseason. He was close to playing in the playoffs, but the Nuggets decided to take the cautious approach. The All-Star guard should be ready to play by the beginning of next season. However, head coach Mike Malone mentioned Murray is likely to come out of the gate slowly. The team wants him to get comfortable and build up his confidence again. He should be a strong fantasy option, but fantasy managers might be in for a slow beginning to the season.

Fri Apr 15 202221:35Jamal Murray "Doubtful" For Postseason
Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray (knee) isn't expected to see action this postseason. "I would lean more towards him being doubtful at this time," said head coach Michael Malone, who's been without Murray and Michael Porter Jr. (spine), two of his top scoring options. Murray suffered a torn left ACL in April of 2021, an injury that required surgery. At this point, fantasy managers shouldn't expect Murray back until the 2022-23 season, which will begin in October. In the meantime, Nikola Jokic should continue to benefit on the offensive end, while guys like Aaron Gordon, Will Barton, Bones Hyland, and Monte Morris could continue to see an uptick in production on both ends of the floor.

Wed Apr 13 202218:12Jamal Murray Has A Chance To Return In Round 1
Denver Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray (knee) has remained without a timetable, despite many reports that he's been progressing in his rehabilitation from his torn ACL last spring. On a recent sports radio show on 92.5 FM in Denver, Nuggets president of basketball operations Tim Connelly stated that Murray's return date is "up to him." Connelly suggested that a return during the middle of the team's first round series against the Golden State Warriors is a possibility, but that it's up to Murray at this point. Connelly added that Michael Porter Jr. (spine) remains behind Murray in his recovery. We'll see if we get an update on Murray's availability soon. Make sure to stay tuned.

Sun Mar 20 202219:39Jamal Murray Not Nearing A Return
Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray (knee) isn't expected back in the lineup anytime soon, according to head coach Michael Malone. However, Malone did leave the door open for Murray to take part in more practice sessions with Grand Rapids, the team's G-League affiliate. Nonetheless, he can be dumped by any fantasy managers competing for a season-long championship. Yet, Murray may gain some DFS interest if he finds his way back to the floor at some point moving ahead. In the meantime, Monte Morris and Bones Hyland remain semi-relevant in all formats, although Hyland is slowly establishing himself as the more viable fantasy option.

Tue Mar 15 202219:21Jamal Murray To Practice With G-League Squad
Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray (knee) is scheduled to practice with the team's G League affiliate on Wednesday and Saturday this week. After that, he's expected to return to Denver. Whether or not he'll be practicing with the Nuggets at that point is unclear. There have been some rumblings that Murray could return to the court at some point in March, but we don't really have any firm target dates yet. When he finally gets back in action, he's likely to be on a strict minutes limit. So, despite his considerable upside when healthy, he can be left on waivers in most season-long fantasy leagues.

Mon Feb 28 202214:34Jamal Murray Could Return During Or Before Playoffs
Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray (knee) has been sidelined since April 2021 after tearing the ACL in his left knee. He has remained without a timetable for a return for the majority of this year. However, recent news out of Denver suggests that Murray is on track to return for the playoffs, if not sooner. A report from The Athletic detailed the recovery status of both Murray and Michael Porter Jr. (spine), the latter of whom could be back at some point in March. ESPN's Tim Bontemps also speculated that Murray could return in March as well. The timetable for both players is indeed a bit unclear still, but the bottom line for Murray is that there's a good chance we'll see him during the start of the playoffs at the latest.

Sat Jul 17 202116:49Wizards draw on storied name, hire Wes Unseld Jr as coach
WASHINGTON (AP) — Wes Unseld Jr. was hired as coach of the Washington Wizards on Saturday, bringing the former Denver Nuggets assistant full circle with the franchise his father led to its only NBA title. Unseld carries a strong resume apart from his name. He spent the past six years with the Nuggets and was promoted to associate coach under Michael Malone last season. He began his career with Washington as a scout in 1997 before working his way up to assistant coach, a job he held from 2005-2011. “Becoming a head coach in the NBA is a goal that I have pursued my entire adult life," Unseld said. “To have that dream realized by coming full circle back to Washington is truly special.” Unseld spent one season with Golden State and two with Orlando between his stints in Washington and Denver. With the Nuggets, he helped the developments of Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. “Wes is one of the most highly regarded assistant coaches in the NBA and clearly separated himself from the large and diverse... Fri Jul 16 202119:29Lillard wants Blazers to step up pursuit of championship
Damian Lillard said Friday he has not requested a trade but wants the Portland Trail Blazers to be more urgent in their pursuit of a championship. The All-Star guard added that he expects to be with the Blazers next season, but made clear that he feels it needs to be with more talent around him. Lillard praised Portland as a great city with great fans and said there is pride that the organization is a perennial playoff team. “It’s a lot of positive,” Lillard said. “But I just think we’ve reached that point where it's like, OK, but it’s not enough. Do we actually want to win it all? Is that what we’re shooting for and we’ve got to do things to show that. We’ve got to put action behind that desire to win at that level.” Lillard is in Las Vegas with the U.S. Olympic team. He awoke to a report Friday from Truehoop.com, citing a person close to him, that he planned to request a trade in the coming days. “No. 1, it’s not true,” Billups said, “and secondly I’d also say that I haven’t made any... Thu Jun 17 202113:55Analysis: The NBA playoffs have entered survivor mode
The NBA champion this season will be the last team standing. Perhaps literally. Kawhi Leonard of the Los Angeles Clippers missed Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinals with a knee sprain and amid concerns that it could be a far more significant injury. Brooklyn’s Kyrie Irving has been sidelined by a badly sprained ankle. Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid is playing through a meniscus tear. Atlanta’s Trae Young is putting heat packs on his shoulder that appear to be roughly the size of a small vehicle. Brooklyn’s James Harden came back despite an ailing hamstring. Those are big names, All-Star names, all nowhere near their best right now because of injuries, and there were plenty of other top players — the Lakers’ duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, Denver’s Jamal Murray and Miami’s Victor Oladipo among them — that also either limped to the finish of their seasons or saw them end prematurely because of serious injury. “This is the best time of the year for our league and fans but missing... Mon Jun 14 202115:35Nuggets lament injury-riddled season that came up short
DENVER (AP) — The Denver Nuggets' season came to an ignominious end with Jamal Murray looking on from the bench and newly crowned league MVP Nikola Jokic watching from the locker room. The Phoenix Suns completed their second-round sweep with a 125-118 win Sunday night in Denver, holding off an inspired effort by the Nuggets following Jokic's stunning third-quarter ejection. Long have the Nuggets chafed at the lack of respect and calls that Jokic gets, particularly this season as the 7-foot Serbian blossomed into the NBA's runaway best player. Frustration boiled over 48 hours after Jokic humbly accepted the Maurice Podoloff Trophy that he dedicated to his teammates, coaches, trainers, front office and family. Infuriated at no whistle for the contact on his one-handed runner that bounced off the rim with the Nuggets down seven late in the third quarter, Jokic gestured at the official before racing to Cameron Payne, whom he swatted across the face as he took a hard swipe at the ball. That... [More]
