Fri Nov 5 2010 | 15:20 | Bush probably won't return to Brewers |
Brewers general manager Doug Melvin hinted Friday that his club has no plans to bring back starter Dave Bush. |
"I talked with Dave and told him he should test the free-agent market," Melvin told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Bush, 30, posted an ugly 8-13 record, 4.54 ERA and 1.51 WHIP over 32 total appearances this year for Milwaukee. He won't get anything greater than a one-year contract. |

Wed Sep 29 2010 | 23:06 | Bush fires six shoutout frames, Brewers win |
Dave Bush fired six shutout innings Wednesday as the Brewers grabbed a victory in the second half of a doubleheader with the Mets. |
That was out of nowhere. Bush has been a real disappointment this season, and the same can be said for the entire Milwaukee pitching staff outside of, at times, Yovani Gallardo. The right-handed Bush will finish with an 8-13 record, a 4.54 ERA and a 1.51 WHIP over 32 total appearances. |
Wed Sep 22 2010 | 00:35 | Bush takes 13th loss Tuesday night |
Dave Bush surrendered four runs -- two earned -- over 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Reds on Tuesday night. |
Bush gave up eight hits -- including a solo home run to Jim Edmonds -- while fanning a pair and walking a pair. With the loss, he dropped to 7-13 with a 4.70 ERA on the year. Bush isn't fantasy relevant to begin with, but it's going to be tough for him to survive as a starting pitcher if he continues to walk more than three batters per nine innings and give up flyballs so frequently. |
Tue Aug 31 2010 | 17:05 | Report: Dave Bush clears waivers |
According to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com, Dave Bush has cleared waivers. |
Bush can now be traded to any team. Bush has a 4.71 ERA and 90/54 K/BB ratio over 147 innings with the Brewers this season. The 30-year-old right-hander will be a free agent after the season, but wouldn't net the Brewers anything in compensation this winter. He could be a useful pitcher down the stretch. |

Tue Aug 17 2010 | 23:46 | Bush leaves with blister on index finger |
Dave Bush left Tuesday's start against the Cardinals after just 91 pitches due to a blister on his right index finger. |
"It's nothing serious, but there's a little bit of a rough spot we didn't want to take too much of a chance with," said Bush, who tossed six innings of one-run ball in the win. "It's not as bad as I've had in the past, but it's something I was trying to be aware of. I don't think it will be an issue for me." Bush has dealt with this problem throughout the season, so he was likely removed as a precaution. It shouldn't prevent him from making his next start. |

Thu Jul 15 2010 | 22:16 | Bush solid in loss to Atlanta |
Dave Bush allowed two runs over six innings but took the loss Thursday against the Braves. |
The righty gave up seven hits and walked a pair while striking out five. Bush has been really good over his previous six starts, as he hasn't given up more than two earned runs in any of them. His season ERA now sits at a respectable 4.07, though he also has an ugly 1.50 WHIP. He'll get the Pirates on the road next week. |
Thu Jun 10 2010 | 18:33 | Brewers' Bush surrenders four runs |
Back in the rotation after being skipped last week, Dave Bush pitched six innings and allowed four runs Thursday in his start against the Cubs. |
Bush has generally managed to keep the Brewers in games, but that's the best that can be said about his performance to date. He's 1-5 with a 5.06 ERA. |

Thu Jun 3 2010 | 17:08 | Bush being skipped for poor play, not blister |
Dave Bush said Thursday that his scratching this weekend in St. Louis has nothing to do with a blister on his right finger. |
Bush is being skipped on Sunday against the Cardinals simply because he's been ineffective this season, and he's not happy about it. "The finger's not an issue," said the right-hander. "That has nothing to do with it." He is 1-5 this season with an ugly 4.99 ERA and an even uglier 1.66 WHIP. Manny Parra is starting in his place, and rightfully so. |

Tue Jun 1 2010 | 22:46 | Bush removed due to blister on finger |
Dave Bush was removed from Tuesday's game against the Marlins after six innings due to a blister on his right middle finger. |
Bush only threw 85 pitches in the outing, but said that the blister got "hot" in the sixth inning. "You always would like to keep going but I had to make sure I didn't do something foolish and cost me my next start," said Bush, who added that the blister developed during his previous start. "I was conscious about pushing it too far." |

Thu May 27 2010 | 16:54 | Brewers' Bush bounces back versus Astros |
Dave Bush, who gave up seven runs in one-third of an inning last time out, held the Astros to a pair of unearned runs over five innings on Thursday. |
Bush didn't factor into the decision, but the Brewers won in extras to improve to 2-8 in his starts. Bush is 1-5 with a 5.05 ERA himself. He's hanging in the rotation by a thread. |
Fri May 21 2010 | 23:19 | Bush shelled by the Twins |
Dave Bush gave up seven earned runs while getting one out against the Twins on Friday night. |
Bush threw 37 pitches, walked two and gave up six hits before mercifully getting the hook. He lost his composure during his short time on the mound, getting into a serious spat with home plate ump Ed Rapuano. Bush was held back by Prince Fielder as the two yelled at each other. Obviously, leave Bush on waivers in all formats. |
Sat May 1 2010 | 01:01 | Bush settles down with quality start |
Dave Bush yielded three earned runs over seven innings but took the loss in San Diego on Friday night. |
Bush took full advantage of Petco Park and lowered his ERA to 4.60 on the season. He'll have a much tougher go of it in Los Angeles next week and his upside is as a serviceable fourth starter for the Brew Crew. |
Sun Apr 25 2010 | 17:16 | Brewers' Bush rocked by Cubs |
Dave Bush was rocked for nine runs -- seven earned -- in just 3 2/3 innings versus the Cubs on Sunday. |
That's the Dave Bush we know and love. Bush gave up 10 hits in the outing, including homers to Derrek Lee, Geovany Soto, Tyler Colvin, and Kosuke Fukudome. Bush had a nice start to the season with a 2.41 ERA through three starts, but hopefully the small sample didn't lure you into claiming the right-hander. |
Tue Apr 20 2010 | 21:57 | Bush spins seven shutout innings in W v. Bucs |
Dave Bush pitched shutout ball for seven innings, allowing only three hits, as the Brewers blew out the Pirates 8-1 on Tuesday. |
Milwaukee needs only for Bush to provide a sense of stability at the end of the rotation, and he has done so thus far. On Tuesday, he was awarded with his first win of the season while improving his ERA to 2.41. It wasn't all roses, as he walked four and struck out two, but that's nit picky. He gets the rival Cubs on his next turn through the rotation. |
