Joe Wieland (elbow) won't be allowed to begin a throwing program until early next year.

Sun May 6 201220:08Joe Wieland takes a no-decision
Joe Wieland gave up two earned runs over 5 2/3 innings as part of a no-decision against the Marlins Sunday.
Wieland, a rookie, had lost his four career starts coming into this one. Today, he limited the Marlins to five hits while walking just one, leading to a confidence-building no-decision. But with Tim Stauffer (elbow) close to coming off the DL, Wieland could be running out of chances to book his first win.

Tue May 1 201201:41Joe Wieland suffers fourth loss Monday
Joe Wieland fell to 0-4 by giving up five runs (three earned) over five innings to the Brewers on Monday night.
Wieland pitched well in his previous two outings, but he just couldn't hold Ryan Braun in check on this night, serving up a pair of homers. He allowed five hits in all while walking two and striking out a career-high eight. The rookie right-hander has a good chance of bouncing back this weekend against the Marlins, but with Anthony Bass continuing to impress, he could be demoted to the minors once Tim Stauffer (elbow) is ready to come off the disabled list.

Fri Apr 20 201201:02Joe Wieland strikes out seven in loss
Joe Wieland held the Phillies to one run in six innings and struck out seven in a losing cause Thursday.
Wieland was much improved in his second big-league start. Too bad the San Diego offense was still the same crummy outfit as before. Tim Stauffer is likely at least three weeks away, so Wieland figures to make at least a couple of more starts before returning to the minors.
