Sun Apr 3 202210:26J.T. Realmuto Slashing .310/.355/.517 In Spring
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto has had a strong Spring Training so far. Over 10 games and 29 at-bats, he's slashing .310/.355/.517 with four extra-base hits (one home run, three doubles). The 31-year-old was limited a bit by injuries last year. He played in 134 games and compiled 17 home runs, 13 stolen bases, 73 RBI and 64 runs while slashing .263/.343/.439. Salvador Perez redefined what a catcher could do for fantasy managers last season and that monstrous season of his has led to Realmuto falling a bit out of favor at the position. But Realmuto most certainly remains an elite catcher and should be the second catcher drafted in all formats, especially in roto where his stolen bases are extra valuable. There's also a good chance he reaps the benefits of the designated hitter spot in the NL this year, earning some additional starts and at-bats because of it.

Over 133 games, he slashed .263/.343/.440 with 17 home runs, 13 stolen bases, 73 RBI and 64 runs. He figures to be one of the first catchers off the board in all fantasy drafts once again next spring.

Fri Oct 1 202118:51J.T. Realmuto Isn't In Friday's Lineup
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto will start Friday's game against the Miami Marlins on the bench. Realmuto is enjoying another productive season, hitting .265 with a .346 on-base percentage, 17 home runs, and 13 stolen bases in 532 plate appearances. Andrew Knapp is starting behind the plate instead and batting eighth. In 148 plate appearances this season, the 29-year-old is batting .156 with a .218 on-base percentage and two home runs. Fantasy managers are probably better off looking elsewhere for streaming help.

Fri Oct 1 202110:37J.T. Realmuto Cracks 17th Homer In Loss To Braves
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss at the Braves on Thursday. The blast was Realmuto's 17th of the season as he's been among the most consistent fantasy producers at catcher, even if he fell short of his billing as the top catcher in fantasy back in March. The 30-year-old backstop ranks fifth among catchers with a .265 batting average and his 13 steals is a nice bonus as no other catcher has more than eight. Toss in a strong .346 on-base percentage and a .444 slugging percentage and you've got a top-five catcher in fantasy. He'll look to finish the season strong with three games at his former club, the Miami Marlins.

Fri Sep 24 202110:54J.T. Realmuto Has Huge Game Off The Bench Versus Pirates
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto didn't get the start on Thursday versus the Pirates, but the veteran backstop still had a huge game after pinch-hitting for Brad Miller in the sixth inning. Realmuto went 3-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored, and four RBI as he helped Philly score 12 unanswered runs after Pittsburgh led 6-0 earlier in the contest. Realmuto will carry a strong .270/.352/.451 slash line into three more matchups with the Pirates over the weekend. He remains a must-start catcher in all fantasy formats.

Thu Sep 23 202116:35J.T. Realmuto Sitting Against Pirates On Thursday
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto is getting the day off on Thursday as the team takes on Connor Overton and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Andrew Knapp is getting the start behind the plate for the game and batting eighth. Realmuto had a strong three-game series against the Baltimore Orioles to start the week. He went 4-for-12 with a double, a triple, a stolen base, three RBI and a run scored in the series. He's slashing .270/.325/.405 over the month of September as a whole. The 30-year-old veteran has had a solid year all-around, though his slugging percentage (.440) is the lowest it's been since 2016, down from .491 last year.

Fri Sep 17 202110:53J.T. Realmuto Exits After Hit By Pitch, X-Rays Negative
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto (elbow) left Thursday's win over the Cubs after being hit by a pitch in the left elbow/triceps area, according to Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia. Andrew Knapp came in at catcher after Realmuto posted another solid game as he collected an RBI and scored a run. According to manager Joe Girardi, X-rays on Realmuto were negative, but his status for Friday's game is up in the air as Realmuto has been dealing with other nagging injuries late in the season. Philly can ill-afford to lose its All-Star catcher, but an injured list stint feels unlikely for Realmuto. Fantasy managers should have a contingency plan in place in the event Realmuto is out.

Wed Sep 15 202116:24J.T. Realmuto Returns To Lineup At First Base On Wednesday
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto (shoulder) is back in the lineup Wednesday versus Alec Mills and the Cubs. Realmuto will play first base with Andrew Knapp getting another game behind the plate as Realmuto continues to nurse a shoulder injury. Philadelphia announced Realmuto would see more time at first base to try and keep its All-Star catcher healthy down the stretch as Realmuto has been battling a few nagging injuries including his shoulder and ankle. The 30-year-old backstop is having another fine season with a .262/.349/.434 slash line with 14 homers and 10 stolen bases to lead all catchers in thefts. Realmuto should be back in fantasy lineups in all formats.

Andrew Knapp is hitting eighth and starting at catcher instead on Tuesday. The 29-year-old is batting .152 with a .207 on-base percentage, and two home runs in 136 plate appearances this season. Thu Sep 9 202117:56J.T. Realmuto Isn't In The Lineup Thursday
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto isn't starting on Thursday. The Phillies will take on the Colorado Rockies and right-handed starter Antonio Senzatela but will do so with one of their best hitters on the bench. Instead, it'll be Rafael Marchan starting behind the plate and hitting eighth on Thursday. The 22-year-old is hitting .250 with a .308 on-base percentage and a home run in 52 plate appearances. Fantasy managers are probably better off looking elsewhere for streaming help.

Thu Sep 9 202110:47J.T. Realmuto Collects RBI In Loss At Milwaukee
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto went 0-for-4 with an RBI groundout and a stolen base in a loss to the Brewers on Wednesday. Realmuto has been quiet lately as he's been getting more off days as well as time playing first base, but he remains a strong option at fantasy baseball's weakest position. On the season, the Phillie backstop is slashing .259/.344/.434 with 14 homers and his 59 RBI ranks third among all catchers. Realmuto has even chipped in nine steals this season, the most thefts among all catchers. He's not the consensus top-catcher in fantasy anymore, but Realmuto is still a must-start player ahead of a four-game set with the Rockies.

Thu Sep 2 202112:48J.T. Realmuto Back In The Lineup Thursday
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto (ankle) is back in the team's starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Washington Nationals. He is playing first base and batting cleanup in the game. Realmuto was sidelined for each of the team's last two games due to an ankle injury that's been lingering for a while. He was hitting well before the two-game absence as he had recorded hits in six of his seven games from August 20 to August 29. Fantasy managers can confidently put the Phillies star back in their lineups for Thursday's game.

Tue Aug 31 202117:48J.T. Realmuto Not In Starting Lineup Tuesday Versus Nats
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto (ankle) is not in the starting lineup on Tuesday, according to Todd Zolecki of MLB.com. Zolecki added that Realmuto is available off the bench, but the team wants to test him more during pregame warmups before getting the All-Star backstop back in the lineup. Realmuto fouled a ball off his ankle on Sunday, but has been dealing with several nagging injuries as catchers are wont to do this time of year. The Phillies announced Realmuto would see time at first base down the stretch which should help keep his bat in the lineup. Rafael Marchan is in the lineup batting eighth, but fantasy managers don't have much use for the third-string catcher.

Mon Aug 30 202108:18J.T. Realmuto Considered Day-To-Day With Ankle Injury
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto rolled his ankle in his final at-bat on Sunday versus the Arizona Diamondbacks. Realmuto is considered day-to-day. One of the top catchers in the game, it wouldn't be surprising to see the All-Star get at least Monday off versus the Washington Nationals. Realmuto is having another good year behind the dish and is hitting .264 with 14 home runs, 58 RBI and eight stolen bases. Any significant timeframe for Realmuto would hurt managers in a big way, because there aren't many star catchers in general, but it looks like he should be fine moving forward. If Realmuto is sidelined on Monday, look for backup catcher Rafael Marchan to replace him in the lineup. Marchan is hitting a respectable .290 in his first 31 at-bats. The Phillies will face young hurler Josiah Gray on Monday and Gray has been throwing the ball well in his limited time at the big-league level. Marchan can remain on the waiver wire for now.

Sat Aug 28 202120:48J.T. Realmuto Could See More Time At First Base
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto could see increased playing time at first base over the final weeks of the season, according to Todd Zolecki of MLB.com. The move is being made for several reasons according to Zolecki, including using Realmuto as a part-time replacement for Rhys Hoskins now that he's done for the year. This move is also being considered to help reduce wear and tear on Realmuto, who reported that he has been dealing with shoulder soreness all season long. It seems possible that Realmuto could end up getting first base eligibility before the end of the year, and that he might be in the lineup a couple more games than he otherwise would have been. It won't be a huge boost in value for Realmuto, but it'll still be a nice little bonus for managers who have him rostered.

Sat Aug 28 202117:16J.T. Realmuto Isn't In Saturday's Lineup
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto isn't in the team's lineup on Saturday for a matchup with the Arizona Diamondbacks and right-handed starter Humberto Mejia. Realmuto is batting .263 with a .351 on-base percentage, 14 home runs, and eight stolen bases in 422 plate appearances this season. The 28-year-old will get the day off on Saturday with Rafael Marchan starting in his place behind the dish and batting eighth. Marchan has seven hits in 24 plate appearances for the Phillies this season but had a .191 batting average in 223 plate appearances for the organization's Triple-A affiliate this season. You're probably better off looking elsewhere for streaming help at catcher.

Fri Aug 27 202122:20J.T. Realmuto Delivers Clutch Single In Surprise-Start
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto delivered a go-ahead single in the seventh inning on Friday, despite not being in the original lineup. Realmuto was added to the starting lineup after catcher Andrew Knapp was placed on the covid-IL hours before first pitch. Earlier in the week, the Phillies said Realmuto would see time at first base, but that may change if Knapp misses a significant amount of time. Fantasy managers don't care what mitt Realmuto uses, as long as he keeps producing as a top-five catcher in fantasy. The Philly backstop will likely rest on Saturday, but he'll carry a sturdy .264/.352/.448 slash line into a plus matchup with Madison Bumgarner on Sunday.

Mon Aug 23 202100:26J.T. Realmuto Hits Two-Run Homer
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto contributed a two-run homer against the San Diego Padres Sunday. He went 2-for-4 with a walk and also stole a base. It's Realmuto's first homer since August 8. This is also his first multi-hit game since August 3, so hopefully it's a sign that he'll be picking up the pace going forward. With 14 homers, eight steals, 50 runs score, 56 RBI, and a .797 OPS, Realmuto has surely been no slouch, but fantasy managers may have expected a bit more when they made him the first catcher off the board at draft time.

Sat Aug 21 202118:03J.T. Realmuto Not In The Lineup On Saturday
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto isn't in the starting lineup for a matchup with the San Diego Padres and right-hander Joe Musgrove on Saturday. Realmuto has provided both the Phillies and fantasy managers with some quality production this year, batting .259 with a .343 on-base percentage, 13 home runs, and seven stolen bases in 399 plate appearances. Andrew Knapp is catching in place of Realmuto and batting eighth against Musgrove. You're probably better off looking elsewhere for streaming help at catcher. In 131 plate appearances this year, Knapp is batting .158 with a .215 on-base percentage and a pair of home runs.

Fri Aug 20 202108:27J.T. Realmuto Goes Hitless Over Diamondbacks Series
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto wasn't able to get anything going at the plate in the team's three-game road series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He went 0-for-11 with a walk and three strikeouts over the series as the Diamondbacks went on to sweep the Phillies. Realmuto had been hitting relatively well prior to this recent trip to Arizona. Over his first 12 games this month, he tallied two home runs, four doubles, one triple and 11 RBI. He's slashing .259/.344/.441 with 13 home runs over 99 games on the year. Expect to see him get back on track during the team's next series against the San Diego Padres.
