Sun Jul 31 202200:55Corey Seager IL Stint Not Ruled Out
Texas Rangers manager Chris Woodward updated shortstop Corey Seager's status prior to Saturday's game by stating that he "can't rule out" an IL stint. The All-Star suffered a contusion after he fouled a ball of his leg in Thursday's contest as Woodward went on to say his availability is "hour to hour," but that his injury hasn't gotten any worse. Hopefully we can get some more clarity on Seager's status prior to Sunday's finale versus the Angels, but managers may want to start thinking of contingency plans until he gets a vote of confidence from the team.

Fri Jul 29 202218:53Corey Seager Not In Lineup Friday
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (leg) is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. Seager is day-to-day with a right leg contusion after he fouled a ball off said leg in last night's game. The Rangers are likely to take extra caution with Seager, who has had his problems with injuries in the past and is in the first year of a 10-year deal. Still, this doesn't seem like a long-term injury and it is likely that we will see Seager back in the lineup soon. Fantasy managers certainly hope that's the case, as the 28-year-old has been on fire in July, slashing .318/.394/.647 with eight homers in 85 at-bats. Keep an eye on his status over the weekend, and get him back in your lineup as soon as he returns.

Fri Jul 29 202200:21Corey Seager Leaves With Leg Contusion
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (leg) left Thursday's contest versus the Angels after suffering a leg contusion when he fouled a ball off his leg in the fifth inning. He stayed in for the at-bat and ended up swatting a double, but he was removed in the sixth inning as a precautionary measure. The All-Star was 3-for-3 in the contest to give him a .249 average with 23 home runs and 54 RBI for the season, and he should be considered day-to-day for the time being. The Rangers don't have a scheduled off day until Aug. 8, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see Seager sit out a game or two this weekend to make sure he heals properly.

Thu Jul 21 202211:04Corey Seager Not Starting Thursday
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager is not in the starting lineup on Thursday to begin the second half of the season against the Miami Marlins. Seager will get the day off after he took part in the Home Run Derby and All-Star game earlier this week. He was named to his third All-Star team in his first year in Texas by hitting .251/.324/.480 with an .804 OPS, 22 home runs, 52 RBI, 48 runs scored and three stolen bases in 88 games. Seager should be back in the lineup on Friday. Marcus Semien will move from second base to shortstop and is batting second, while Charlie Culberson will start at the keystone and hit ninth against Marlins right-hander Pablo Lopez. Culberson is still searching for his first home run of the season in 82 at-bats.

Thu Jul 14 202219:56Corey Seager To Take Part In Home Run Derby
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager will be the eighth player confirmed to take part in this year's Home Run Derby during All-Star week in Los Angeles. Seager will be the No. 3 seed based on last year's home run totals, and he will face off against Seattle Mariners rookie outfielder Julio Rodriguez in the first round. Seager has 59 career long balls at Dodgers Stadium and took part in the Derby back in 2016 as a rookie. The 28-year-old is hitting .245/.321/.467 with 21 home runs, 48 RBI, 46 runs scored and three stolen bases in 84 games in his first year in Texas. With the first half about to come to an end, he's just five home runs shy of his career-high in homers.

Wed Jul 6 202200:12Corey Seager Homers, Drives In Three Tuesday
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager continued his recent strong stretch at the plate Tuesday, going 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored in a 10-9 extra-inning loss to the Baltimore Orioles. Seager now has 16 home runs this season, and has slashed .321/.387/.464 with three multi-hit performances in his last seven games. Seager's .566 xSLG is in the top nine percent of the league, and his .078 shortfall in wOBA versus xwOBA seems to indicate that more production, and power, should be in the offing for the rest of 2022.

Wed Jun 22 202221:46Corey Seager Collects A Pair Of Hits Wednesday
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager went 2-for-4 Wednesday, helping his club beat the Philadelphia Phillies 4-2. He doubled, scored a run, and struck out once during the contest. Seager has enjoyed moderate success in his first year in Texas, slashing .235/.307/.442. However, the former Rookie of the Year recipient has 15 homers with 35 runs and 32 RBI through 66 games. Seager should continue to provide power and counting stats for fantasy managers even if he can't turn his batting average around.

Thu Jun 2 202211:19Corey Seager Sitting Versus Rays
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager is taking the day off on Thursday against the Tampa Bay Rays. It will be his first day off since April 17. In his first year in Texas, Seager is hitting .236/.303/.435 with 11 home runs, 24 RBI, 25 runs scored and two stolen bases in 211 plate appearances over 48 games played. However, in the last 14 days, he's gone 12-for-56 (.214) with three home runs, six RBI and two stolen bases. The average hasn't been there for Seager's fantasy managers, but you can't really complain otherwise. Marcus Semien will play shortstop and bat second on Thursday, while Charlie Culberson will handle the keystone and bat ninth against Rays right-hander Corey Kluber.

Fri May 13 202220:06Corey Seager Picking Up The Power
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager has not performed as well as he might have hoped through his first 114 at-bats with his new team, slashing .237/.302/.430 with seven homers, 13 runs, and 15 RBI. He has homered three times in his last three matchups, but unfortunately those are the only three hits Seager has managed in 25 at-bats over his last seven games. With a .227 BABIP on the season, it's expected that some more hits will start to fall in, and Seager's overall numbers will rise. Sitting in the 93rd percentile of xSLG, a buy-low window may be starting to close.

Sun Apr 17 202214:09Corey Seager Not In The Lineup
Texas Rangers infielder Corey Seager (rest) is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. The lefty slugger appears to be getting a routine day off. Charlie Culberson will cover second base and bat seventh versus lefty Jose Suarez. The fact that the Rangers are facing a left-handed starter could be part of the reason they decided to give Seager the day off. Fantasy managers should expect him back in the lineup for their next contest. Culberson is a decent bench option, but doesn't have much upside with the bat.

Sun Apr 3 202213:10Corey Seager Says Skipper Was Pivotal In Signing
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager recently stated that a big incentive to sign with his new team this offseason was the team's manager, Chris Woodward. Speaking on MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM, Seager said, "Woody was a huge part of my decision. Knowing how he is, knowing how he approaches the game, knowing how I am and how I approach the game. The stars aligned." We all also know that the massive 10-year, $325 million deal didn't hurt either. Seager slashed .306/.394/.521 with 16 home runs, 57 RBI and 54 runs over 95 games last year. He's a great shortstop to target after the players in the top few tiers at the position are off the board.

Mon Nov 29 202117:02Corey Seager Goes To Rangers On 10-Year Deal
The Texas Rangers agreed to sign free-agent shortstop Corey Seager for 10 years and $325 million dollars. The massive contract includes a $5 million signing bonus, a limited trade clause and no opt outs. It comes just a day after Texas landed middle infielder Marcus Semien for seven years and $175 million. Semien will presumably play the keystone, and Texas now has one of the most powerful middle-infield combinations in baseball at a hitter-friendly park. Seager, 27, hit .295/.364/.501 with 100 home runs in 609 games from 2016 to 2021 and is one of the best offensive shortstops in the game. However, he also had Tommy John surgery in 2018 and arthroscopic hip surgery three months later. He suffered a fractured hand in 2021 and missed nearly 11 weeks but finished with a strong .306/.394/.521 slash line.

Mon Nov 22 202120:54Dodgers Only Interested In Corey Seager Among Top Shortstops
The Los Angeles Dodgers are making an effort to try to bring free agent shortstop Corey Seager back into the fold for 2022, but they have not expressed any serious interest in the other top available shortstops. With Trea Turner on the roster, Los Angeles is prepared to roll with one of those two at shortstop for the upcoming season. If Seager returns, Turner would remain at second base, where he finished the 2021 campaign after coming over from the Nationals. Seager slashed .306/.394/.521 with 16 home runs, 54 runs scored, and 57 RBI in his 95 2021 games, and counts the Yankees and Rangers among his suitors. He'll be a fantasy force regardless of destination, though he would get a boost from the stacked Dodgers lineup.

Wed Nov 10 202121:27Yankees Talking To Agents For Corey Seager And Carlos Correa
According to CBS Sports' Jim Bowden, the New York Yankees are reportedly "in conversation with agents for both Corey Seager and Carlos Correa." The Yankees certainly make sense, speculatively speaking, as a fit for one of the winter's top free-agent shortstops. New York could easily shift Gleyber Torres to second base and play DJ LeMahieu more at the infield corners. A move to New York for either Seager or Correa certainly wouldn't hurt from a fantasy standpoint as they'd potentially be hitting in front of Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton.

Mon Nov 8 202120:57Corey Seager Declines Qualifying Offer Monday
Free-agent shortstop Corey Seager has reportedly declined the one-year, $18.4 million qualifying offer from the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday, according to Jorge Castillo of the L.A. Times. Seager will now enter free agency, allowed to sign with any club. The 27-year old missed a lot of time this past season but played well when on the field. He slashed .306/.394/.521 with 16 HRs, 57 RBI, and 54 runs over 95 games. He's one of the many star shortstops on the market but should receive a nice payday after posting a career .867 OPS thus far in seven seasons with the Dodgers. There's always a risk drafting Seager given his injury history, but with the power and batting average combination, he can be worth the early round price tag if he's able to play a full season.

Sun Nov 7 202118:02Corey Seager, Chris Taylor Receive Qualifying Offers
The Los Angeles Dodgers extended one-year, $18.4 million qualifying offers to both shortstop Corey Seager and infielder/outfielder Chris Taylor. Seager, a two-time All-Star and the 2020 World Series MVP and National League Championship Series MVP is expected to decline the offer as one of the top available players on the free-agent market this offseason. Despite missing more than two months with a right hand fracture this year, he hit .306/.394/.521 with 16 home runs and 57 RBI in 95 games in 2021. Taylor, 31, hit .351/.419/.784 with four doubles, four home runs and 12 RBI in 11 postseason games. He was also a first-time All-Star during the regular season and hit .254/.344/.438 with 20 long balls and 13 stolen bases.

Sat Nov 6 202122:17Corey Seager Will Receive Qualifying Offer
Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager will receive a one-year, $18.4 million qualifying offer, but as one of the premium shortstops available on the free-agent market this winter, he will turn it down. If Seager departs via free agency, the Dodgers would receive draft-pick compensation. According to The Athletic's Keith Law, Seager is the No. 2 free agent available this offseason behind only Carlos Correa. The 2016 National League Rookie of the Year has hit an impressive .306/.381/.545 with 31 home runs in 147 games since the start of last year despite missing two months this year with a broken hand. Seager has a history of dealing with injuries and could eventually move to the hot corner, but he regularly barrels up baseballs and would be especially attractive in fantasy if he landed with a team like the New York Yankees, who are looking for a shortstop.

Fri Sep 24 202108:26Corey Seager Delivers Four Hits In Thursday's Win
Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager helped the team defeat the Colorado Rockies 7-5 on Thursday. He went 4-for-5 with four singles and two RBI in the game. The 27-year-old has been swinging a hot bat in September. Over 20 games this month, he's slashing .348/.439/.507 with three home runs, 12 RBI and eight runs. Most impressively, he's struck out just six times this month while walking 12 times. After putting together a career-best .307/.358/.585 slash line in 2020, Seager has been a bit underwhelming on the whole this year. Over 86 games this season, he has a .289/.381/.456 slash line to go along with 10 home runs, 48 RBI and 45 runs. Luckily for fantasy managers, it looks like he's getting hot at the most important time.

Thu Sep 9 202112:24Corey Seager Absent From Thursday's Lineup
Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals, according to MLB.com. It's just a day off for Seager, who has played in six consecutive games. When healthy, he's been good offensively, slashing .284/.379/.458 with eight home runs over 73 games. Billy McKinney will play right field with Trea Turner shifting over to short and Mookie Betts playing second base. McKinney isn't worth streaming, with him slashing just .194/.282/.361 across 115 games this year.

Sun Sep 5 202109:22Corey Seager Goes Yard In Victory
Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in Saturday's victory versus the San Francisco Giants. Seager took Sammy Long deep for his eighth home run of the year to add some insurance runs in the top of the ninth inning. The shortstop has been swinging a hot bat lately and is hitting .381 with two home runs and five RBI over his last seven games. For the season, Seager is hitting .281 with eight home runs and 38 RBI. Managers should continue to have confidence with Seager moving forward.
