Sat Aug 28 202118:48Corey Seager Isn't Starting On Saturday
Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager isn't in Saturday's lineup for a matchup with the Colorado Rockies and right-handed starter Jon Gray. Seager has provided both the Dodgers and fantasy managers alike with some quality production at the plate this season, batting .272 with a .360 on-base percentage, six home runs, and a stolen base in 275 plate appearances. Trea Turner is starting at shortstop in Seager's place with Mookie Betts moving to second base. Billy McKinney is starting in right field in place of Betts and batting eighth. Considering Turner and Betts start almost every game for the Dodgers, this is essentially McKinney replacing Seager in the lineup. You're probably best off looking elsewhere for streaming help in daily fantasy play and season-long formats. McKinney is batting .202 with a .293 on-base percentage, nine home runs, and two stolen bases in 287 plate appearances this season.

Wed Aug 25 202113:22Corey Seager Slashing .306/.388/.500 In August
Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager has been hitting well since returning from a lengthy stay on the injured list in late July. Seager was sidelined for over two months with a fractured right hand. He made his long-awaited return to the Dodgers on July 30. Over 20 games in August, he has slashed .306/.388/.500 with two home runs, eight doubles, 10 RBI and 16 runs. Seager had a career-best year in 2020. Most of his numbers are down this year from last year, but his 2021 numbers still look generally solid. He has a solid xBA of .279, a strong 10% barrel rate and a sturdy 11.2% walk rate on the year.

Wed Aug 18 202108:51Corey Seager Doubles Twice In Tuesday's Win
Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager had a strong day at the plate in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. He went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, a walk and two runs. Seager has been hitting well since his return from the injured list in late July. Over 14 games this month, he is slashing .327/.410/.519 with one home run, seven doubles, five RBI and 12 runs. Seager's power numbers are down a good amount from last year. He had a career-high .647 xSLG in 2020, but his xSLG in 2021 so far is just .463. His barrel rate is also down from a career-high 15.8% in 2020 to 10.4% this year. Seager's 2020 power output is looking like an outlier amidst his career, but he should still be relied upon as a must-start shortstop in all fantasy formats.

Wed Aug 11 202100:28Corey Seager Continues To Swing Hot Bat
Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager went 3-for-5 with two runs and a solo home run in Tuesday's victory versus the Philadelphia Phillies. Seager's home run was the first that he has hit since being activated on June 30 and he has also been swinging a hot bat in his first nine games back. Seager is hitting in the middle of one of the most dangerous lineups and should seen plenty of RBI opportunities moving forward. Seager is now hitting .276 with five home runs and 25 RBI.

Fri Jul 30 202118:45Monster trade: Dodgers get Scherzer, Turner from Nationals
PHOENIX (AP) — A dizzying trade deadline saw the World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers pull off the biggest whopper of them all. The Dodgers acquired three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer and All-Star shortstop Trea Turner, finalizing the deal for the dynamic duo from the Washington Nationals shortly before Friday's cutoff for making swaps. Washington acquired a pair of rookies, right-hander Josiah Gray and catcher Keibert Ruiz, and two minor leaguers, righty Gerardo Carrillo and outfielder Donovan Casey. The Nationals, who have fallen out of playoff contention made several trades in 24 hours to dismantle a roster that won the World Series in 2019 over the Houston Astros. “When I took a step back and made that look, I didn’t see a path to be a World Series caliber team this year, so I felt it was time to take a step sideways to allow us to take a step forward and get back to where we’re supposed to be, which is a championship-caliber organization,” Nationals general manager... Fri Jul 30 202116:25Monster trade: Dodgers get Scherzer, Turner from Nationals
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers pulled off a monster deal for ace Max Scherzer and All-Star shortstop Trea Turner, getting the dynamic duo from the Washington Nationals shortly before Friday's trade deadline. Washington acquired a pair of rookies, right-hander Josiah Gray and catcher Keibert Ruiz, and two minor leaguers, righty Gerardo Carrillo and outfielder Donovan Casey. Scherzer had been given permission to speak to the Dodgers to see if he would waive his right to veto any trade, a power he had as a 10-year veteran who has been with his team for at least five years. “Today is heart wrenching as we say goodbye to two of the most accomplished players and two of the best people in our team’s history," Nationals owner Mark Lerner said in a statement. The deal came with the Dodgers three games behind NL West-leading San Francisco. Los Angeles owns the top spot in the wild-card race, 2 1/2 games ahead of San Diego. With the Major League Baseball trade deadline... [More]

Fri Jul 30 202102:14AP source: Dodgers near megatrade for Nats' Scherzer, Turner
The World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers neared a monster trade for ace Max Scherzer and All-Star shortstop Trea Turner of the Washington Nationals late Thursday night, a person close to the deal told The Associated Press. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the swap wasn't complete. The Nationals would get four young players for Washington's dynamic duo. Scherzer has been given permission to speak to the Dodgers to see if he will waive his right to veto any trade, a power he has as a 10-year veteran who has been with his team for at least five years. If the trade goes through, it would be a stunning haul for the Dodgers, who are three games behind NL West-leading San Francisco. Los Angeles owns the top spot in the wild-card race, 2 1/2 games ahead of San Diego. With the Major League Baseball trade deadline at 4 p.m. EDT Friday, there was speculation on Thursday that the Padres would be the winners in the Scherzer sweepstakes. Instead, the Dodgers got real... [More]
Wed Jul 28 202121:23Corey Seager Aiming Weekend Return
Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager (hand) could be activated from the injured list during the team's upcoming weekend series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He's been sidelined since mid-May due to a fractured right hand. "Seager felt really good and recovered the right way," said manager Dave Roberts. "Hoping for an activation this weekend in Arizona." The 27-year-old has progressed well in his recovery, and with all the injuries the Dodgers have suffered recently, he might not need to go on a rehab assignment as previously reported. Seager slashed .265/.361/.422 with four home runs, 22 RBI, and one stolen base over 169 plate appearances in 2021. Fantasy managers who stashed Seager throughout the season could be getting the Dodgers shortstop sooner than expected. Stay tuned.

Thu Jul 15 202111:50Injury-plagued Dodgers keeping close in bid to repeat title
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles Dodgers waited 32 years to win the World Series again. The road to a repeat championship is never easy, and they head into the second half of the season hoping the worst of the bumps along the way are behind them. A suspended starting pitcher, injuries and offensive struggles have conspired against them. It’s the first time since 2016 the Dodgers haven’t been in first place at the All-Star break. But they're close. At 56-35, they have the second-most wins in the majors behind the rival San Francisco Giants (57-32). LA trails the first-place Giants by two games in the NL West, a division the Dodgers have won eight consecutive years. “Considering what all we’ve been through, I’d say it’s pretty good,” All-Star first baseman Max Muncy said. “We haven’t played anywhere near the caliber that we are capable of playing.” During one stretch, the Dodgers went 5-15. Injuries have knocked out starters Clayton Kershaw and Dustin May and shortstop Corey Seager, among... [More]

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Across the globe, everybody is watching Shohei Ohtani in awe and intrigue. Major League Baseball can only love the attention from around the world surrounding the Angels' two-way star and the spotlight he's brought to the sport. Can Ohtani keep this up? An encore to a sensational first half? He leads the majors with 33 home runs and has shown no signs of slowing down or slumping — and should soon have a healthy Mike Trout back in the lineup with him. Pitchers across the big leagues are doing their part so far, too. There have already been seven no-hitters in the majors this season, matching the mark for most in one year during the modern era. The record of eight was set in 1884, the first season overhand pitching was allowed. Will Jacob deGrom, Walker Buehler and Gerrit Cole join the list soon? And will the uproar over sticky substances tamp down? Manager Torey Lovullo and the Arizona Diamondbacks are eager for a fresh start, determined to forget that record 24-game... [More]

Wed Jun 30 202120:21Dodgers transfer Seager to 60-day IL, add RHP Bobby Wahl
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles Dodgers transferred infielder Corey Seager to the 60-day injured list on Wednesday. The move made room for right-hander Bobby Wahl on the 40-man roster. Seager fractured his right wrist on May 15 against Washington and has missed 40 games since going on the IL the next day. He batted .265 with four homers and 22 RBIs in 37 games before getting hurt. Seager was the MVP of last year’s World Series and NL Championship Series. The Dodgers claimed Wahl off waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers, where he spent parts of three seasons. He is 0-2 with a 7.63 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 17 career appearances for Oakland (2017), the New York Mets (2018) and the Brewers (2020). This season, Wahl has split time between Double-A Biloxi and Triple-A Nashville. He's allowed a combined 11 runs in 10 1/3 innings, with 11 strikeouts. The 29-year old right-hander is 9-8 with a 3.80 ERA and is 40 for 45 in save opportunities in 172 career minor league games. ___ More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/hub/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
