OF Leonys Martin agreed to a one-year contract with the Tigers, the team announced Tuesday. Terms of his deal were not announced by the Tigers, but USA Today reports Martin will make $1.75 million and could earn $1.1 million in incentives. Martin, 29, is entering his eighth big-league season after spending the 2017 campaign split between the Mariners and Cubs.

OF Leonys Martin made his major league debut as a pitcher. Martin pitched two-thirds of an innings and allowed two runs on three hits. Both runs came on a David Freese home run. Martin's ERA is 27.00.

OF Leonys Martin was called up from Triple-A Iowa. He was acquired from Seattle on Thursday for cash or a player to be named. He has played all or part of seven major league seasons with Texas (2011-15) and Seattle (2016-17). The left-handed batter and right-handed thrower is a career .248 hitter with 71 doubles, 19 triples, 38 home runs and 175 in 606 career games.

RF Leonys Martin hit a homer that provided what turned out to be the decisive run and also made a sliding catch in the ninth inning of a 7-6 victory against Baltimore on Wednesday. With the bases loaded and no outs in the ninth, Martin ranged far to his right and turned a potential two-run double by Manny Machado into a sacrifice fly. The play was magnified because CF Jarrod Dyson is nursing a sore groin and was inserted into the game only after Guillermo Heredia was hit by a pitch. "Dyson doesn't feel good right now, so I was trying to take care of my guy," Martin said.

OF Leonys Martin hit a tie-breaking, solo home run in the top of the 10th inning, lifting Seattle to a 7-6 victory against Oakland on Tuesday night. The home run was Martin's second of the season, both coming since he was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma on July 30."Obviously I couldn't be happier for Leonys Martin," Mariners manager Scott Servais said. "The last time we were in Oakland, we had to designate him to send him down. He's busted his butt down there the whole time in Triple-A. He's helped us out a ton since he's been back."

"Any player getting sent down like that is going to have an adjustment period, to get over the, 'Woe is me,'" Mariners manager Scott Servais said. "After the first 10 days, it's, 'OK, how do I get back (to the majors).' The other guys played so well, it was going to take an injury for him (to return)." Martin, playing right field, made a diving catch on a Curtis Granderson liner in the top of the second, then hit a 396-foot home run down the right-field line in the bottom of the inning. "That was fairly exciting for me," Martin said. "It's been a long time, playing in the minor leagues. I was just trying to keep calm and put a good swing on it."
