Wed Jun 4 201423:08Nuno limits A's offense to two runs in ND
Vidal Nuno got the no-decision, allowing two runs over 4 2/3 innings in Wednesday's loss to the Athletics.
Nuno wasn't able to get through the fifth inning, putting runners on second and third with one out before Jed Lowrie hit a sacrifice fly to make it 4-2. Matt Daley relieved him and got the final out of the inning. Overall, he allowed six hits, walked one, and struck out five. Nuno hasn't been great since moving into the rotation in late April, now with a 4.50 ERA as a starter this season. He'll face the Royals on the road in his next outing.

Fri May 30 201422:18Vidal Nuno whiffs six Twins in losing effort
Vidal Nuno racked up six strikeouts in a losing effort against the Twins on Friday, allowing four runs on seven hits over 6 2/3 innings.
He displayed good command throughout the night, as evidenced by the zero walks against him, but he caught too much of the plate in key situations. All of the damage against him came via the long ball, with Oswaldo Arcia, Josh Willingham and Trevor Plouffe victimizing him in this one. He'll look to improve upon a troublesome 5.48 ERA and 1.45 WHIP when he does battle against the Athletics on Thursday.

Sat May 24 201417:18Nuno goes seven innings in no-decision
Vidal Nuno yielded three runs over seven innings Saturday in a no-decision against the White Sox.
Nuno gave up three runs in the first inning, so it looked like his outing would be a brief one, but he managed to hold the White Sox off the board the rest of the way. It was a nice recovery. The southpaw fanned five and walked one in the no-decision and now owns a 5.49 ERA in seven starts and three relief appearances. He'll get the Twins at home next week.

Sun May 18 201420:04Vidal Nuno takes no-decision
Vidal Nuno gave up three runs -- two earned -- in six innings Sunday in a no-decision against the Pirates.
Nuno had two errors committed behind him in the second, an inning that could have turned out quite a bit worse if not for some poor baserunning by Jose Tabata. As it was, he gave up just the one unearned run then. The two earned runs came in the sixth on an Andrew McCutchen single and a Starling Marte homer. Since Nuno did get through the sixth, he was credited with his second quality start in six tries this season. His hold on a rotation spot remains tenuous.

Tue May 13 201423:16Nuno hammered by the Mets in Tuesday start
Vidal Nuno was torched for seven runs (five earned) in 3 1/3 innings as the Yankees lost to the Mets on Tuesday.
The Mets were on Nuno early, putting up a four-spot in the first inning and chasing him from the game with a run in the third and two more in the fourth. Overall, Nuno allowed four hits, walked four, and struck out one. Nuno has been hit-or-miss so far this season, at times flashing some potency, but his control problems render him unreliable in AL-only leagues. If the Yankees give him another shot and keep him on schedule, he'll face the Pirates at home next.

Thu May 8 201401:20Nuno dominates Angels in best start of season
Vidal Nuno fired 6 1/3 innings of one-run ball, scattering four hits, in a 9-2 victory over the Angels on Wednesday.
He struck out three and issued one free pass. Nuno also kept the ball in the yard in what was easily his best performance of the season (which is admittedly faint praise for a pitcher who took the mound in the first inning with a 6.87 ERA). The left-hander probably needed a performance like this to save his rotation spot, but that doesn't mean you should trust him in AL-only leagues. Nuno, now 1-0 with a 5.47 ERA, hosts the crosstown rival Mets on Tuesday.

Sat May 3 201400:55Nuno gives up four runs in no-decision
Vidal Nuno was knocked around for four runs in 4 2/3 innings Friday in a no-decision against the Rays.
Nuno was pulled after giving up a solo homer to Desmond Jennings in the fifth inning. He allowed five hits and three walks and now holds an ugly 6.87 ERA and 17/10 K/BB ratio in 18 1/3 innings between three relief appearances and three starts this year. The southpaw should keep his rotation spot for now, but that's mostly by default. He's not much of a fantasy option.

Sat Apr 26 201416:15Vidal Nuno struggles in first start vs Angels
Vidal Nuno struggled in his first start since joining the Yankees rotation, allowing three runs on five hits over 4 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Angels on Saturday.
Nuno walked a pair and struck out four on the afternoon, throwing just 72 pitches as he builds up his stamina toward becoming a full-time fixture in the rotation. The 26-year-old southpaw will look for better results when he takes on the Mariners at home on Thursday.

Tue Apr 22 201417:49Vidal Nuno named Yanks' new No. 5 starter
Vidal Nuno has been named the Yankees' fifth starter.
Ivan Nova is facing season-ending elbow surgery and Nuno looked sharp in his first audition for the vacant rotation spot on Sunday, throwing five scoreless innings against the Rays. Nuno will make his next start Saturday against the Angels. He's worth a look in AL-only fantasy leauges.

Sun Apr 20 201418:35Nuno holds Rays scoreless over five Sunday
Vidal Nuno held the upstart Rays offense scoreless over five innings in Sunday's extra-inning victory.
The Rays had scored 27 runs over the first two games of the series, but the lefty found the antidote on Sunday. Nuno allowed just three hits and two walks while striking out six on the day. With Ivan Nova hitting the disabled list with an elbow injury, Nuno is the most likely candidate to replace him in the rotation. His next start will likely come Saturday against the Angels.

Fri Apr 18 201417:28Vidal Nuno to start on Sunday
Vidal Nuno is expected to start on Sunday against the Rays.
The Yankees need a spot starter following Wednesday's doubleheader, and Nuno makes the most sense. He last pitched on April 8 and got up to 67 pitches in the outing (though he allowed seven runs over 3 1/3 innings).

Sat Mar 15 201415:43Vidal Nuno goes four scoreless in start
Vidal Nuno pitched four scoreless innings, allowing just one hit, Saturday against the Orioles.
Including his start against Florida State on Feb. 25, Nuno has allowed one run in eight innings this spring. Still, with other pitchers also stepping up, the lefty is probably a long shot to be a part of the Opening Day roster. Since David Phelps figures to be the primary swingman, it'd make more sense to let Nuno start regularly in Triple-A than to him work in middle relief in the majors.

Tue Feb 25 201415:59Vidal Nuno goes two scoreless in start
Vidal Nuno started and pitched two scoreless innings in the Yankees' 8-3 defeat of Florida State on Tuesday.
Unfortunately, Jameis Winston never pitched for the Seminoles, though he did come off the bench to go 0-for-2 as a left fielder. The 26-year-old Nuno, one of the Yankees' most pleasant surprises last spring, enters this March as a long shot rotation candidate behind Michael Pineda and David Phelps. He probably has a better chance of making the team as a middle reliever, though it's possible the Yankees would rather have him start games at Triple-A after he missed the second half of last year with a groin injury.

Sun Oct 13 201308:58Vidal Nuno activated from 60-day DL
Yankees activated LHP Vidal Nuno from the 60-day disabled list.
He's now back on the 40-man roster as the Yanks head into the offseason. Nuno posted a 1.44 ERA at Triple-A and a 2.25 mark in the majors this season but was limited to just 45 innings due to a groin injury. He'll be fine for the start of spring training.

Sat Sep 7 201312:58Yankees place Vidal Nuno on 60-day DL
Yankees placed LHP Vidal Nuno on the 60-day disabled list with a groin injury.
This was merely done as a procedural move to open a spot on the 40-man roster for Jim Miller who was recalled on Saturday. Nuno appeared in just five games at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season, posting a 1.44 ERA, 0.64 WHIP and 30/2 K/BB ratio in 25 innings before succumbing to the groin injury.

Sat Jun 8 201313:43Vidal Nuno likely headed to Triple-A DL
Vidal Nuno left Friday's start at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre with a groin injury.
Nuno is expected to be placed on the Triple-A disabled list and could be looking at an extended absence. The 25-year-old left-hander posted a 2.25 ERA in three starts and two relief appearances with the Yankees earlier this season.

Fri May 31 201316:10Vidal Nuno optioned to Triple-A
Yankees optioned LHP Vidal Nuno to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
He's has been great in his time with the Yankees, but the club has decided to keep David Phelps in the rotation, so Nuno isn't needed with Andy Pettitte coming back Monday. He should get another chance later this summer.

Thu May 30 201322:11Vidal Nuno holds Mets to two runs in start
Vidal Nuno held the Mets to two runs and three hits over six innings in a loss on Thursday.
Nunez finished with the same line tonight as he did five days ago in a no-decision against the Rays. With a 2.25 ERA in three starts and two relief appearances, he's made a case for sticking around. Still, he's expected to be bounced from the rotation with Andy Pettitte returning Monday.

Sat May 25 201320:20Nuno pitches well and Yankees beat Rays
Vidal Nuno held the Rays to two earned runs in six frames Saturday as the Yankees won in extra innings.
Nuno was again solid, yielding only five hits and one walk in what was his second career major league start. He's been steady in spot duty this year for the Yankees but seems due for a blowup. We probably wouldn't trust him outside of AL-only fantasy leagues.

Wed May 22 201318:36Vidal Nuno to start on Saturday
Vidal Nuno will start Saturday against the Rays.
The Yankees had the option of skipping Nuno with the off day, but they decided to give CC Sabathia an extra day of rest. "It's just the way we did it because we're in another long stretch here," manager Joe Girardi said. "After this day off, it's 17 days in a row, so that's how we decided to do it."
