RHP Jesse Hahn was demoted to Triple-A Nashville on Sunday, one day after he struggled through a start against the Baltimore Orioles.Hahn allowed five runs (four earned) and eight hits in 5 1/3 innings while suffering the defeat. It was his second start for Oakland this season - he shut out Houston on three hits over 6 2/3 innings in a victory on April 30. Hahn was stunned to hear he was going to back to Nashville. "I didn't ask too many questions, but I'm sure the (Saturday) doubleheader had something to do with it," Hahn told reporters. "Obviously I'm not happy about it, but all I can do is keep my head high and hope that the next time I'm here I stick."
Thu May 5 201600:34A's pitchers need to step up against hot Orioles
OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Oakland A's gave up 21 runs, 41 hits and six home runs in three games against the Seattle Mariners, getting swept at home in a series that ended with a painful 9-8 loss Wednesday at the Coliseum.Next stop, Baltimore, where the A's open a three-game series against the red-hot Orioles on Friday. "They got a lot of pop in their lineup, and in that ballpark as a pitcher you've got to be pretty careful because they have a number of guys that can leave there in a hurry," Melvin said. "Managed very well. Buck (Showalter) does a great job with them, in the bullpen in particular. Seems to always have the right guys in at the right time. "It's a good team. You watch in the spring, they struggled a little bit. Come out and get off to a hot start during the season because they have a bunch of guys that have played together with each other for a while now, some veteran guys that know how to play. So it's a very tough team." A's starting pitchers have gone 2-8 over the last 12... [More]

RHP Jesse Hahn had a blister problem leading up to his recall and had to show the problem cleared up before getting the call to start Saturday. "He did a great job for us last year but had a tough spring," A's manager Bob Melvin said. "He had to work his way back and he has. In the spring his sinker was not really sinking, though that might have been a product of the environment."

RHP Jesse Hahn didn't pitch after July 1 because of a strained right forearm, but he says he's ready for spring training.
Tue Sep 22 201519:31Hahn (forearm) played catch from 60 feet Tuesday
Hahn (forearm) played catch from 60 feet Tuesday, MLB.com's Jane Lee reports.
There was some fear that Hahn, who has already had one Tommy John surgery, was headed for another such procedure, so the fact that he is throwing pain-free is reassuring. Look for him to continue his rehab from his forearm strain through the winter and to compete for a spot in the rotation during spring training.
Tue Sep 1 201516:22Hahn (forearm) transferred to 60-day DL on Tuesday
Hahn (forearm) was transferred to the 60-day DL on Tuesday, John Hickey of the Bay Area News Group reports.
This doesn't technically eliminate the possibility of a return this season for Hahn, as he will be eligible for activation in mid-September, but it's looking highly unlikely he'll pitch again this year given where he's at in his recovery and the A's spot in the standings. It's just a procedural move to free up a 40-man spot, but look for the team to continue with caution with Hahn.

Hahn (forearm) is still not throwing and it is possible that he will remain shut down for the rest of the season, reports Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Hahn has not pitched since July 1st and with the A's not in contention, there is no reason to push him to get back this season. Hahn has thrown an effective 96.2 innings this year with a 3.35 ERA, but his K/9 rate fell from 8.6 in 2014 to only 6.0 in 2015. Hahn missed the 2011 season after undergoing Tommy John Surgery which is yet another reason why the A's will likely not push Hahn. It is becoming less and less likely by the week that Hahn will have any further fantasy value in 2015.
Fri Jul 17 201519:34Jesse Hahn: (Forearm) Set For PRP Injection
Hahn (forearm) will be treated with a platelet-rich plasma injection Tuesday, John Hickey of the Bay Area News Group reports.
The team will give Hahn a few weeks to let the treatment take effect, after the right-hander was diagnosed with a forearm strain just before the All-Star break. Chances are, the A's will be very cautious when he does ultimately resume a throwing program, especially if they're still in last place.

Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Jesse Hahn will receive a platelet-rich plasma injection on Tuesday as he continues to recover from a forearm injury, according to the Bay Area News Group.
Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Jesse Hahn will receive a platelet-rich plasma injection on Tuesday as he continues to recover from a forearm injury, according to the Bay Area News Group. Hahn, who was shut down indefinitely prior to the All-Star break when he was diagnosed with a strained forearm, could reportedly be out for an extended period of time. "We're going to be conservative with Jesse," general manager Billy Beane said. "And the tough thing with starters is once they're shut down, it takes a while to build back up. So it'll be longer rather than shorter. But Bassitt has come in and pitched very well and kept us very much in the game, so that's been good." Hahn will be given a couple of weeks to allow the injection to take effect, but is seemingly a long way from beginning a throwing program.

Hahn (forearm) is now expected to be on the disabled list for a "somewhat extended stay", reports John Hickey of the Bay Area News Group.
Hahn was already scheduled to be shut down for two weeks, but it sounds like the absence will definitely not be a rapid one. General Manager Billy Beane mentioned that once Hahn is able to throw, it will take a while the build him back up. Hahn's injury hurts the A's and fantasy owners as he had compiled a 3.35 ERA to go along with six wins over 16 starts. In many re-draft leagues, Hahn becomes a very tough guy to hold on to without extensive DL slots.
Sat Jul 11 201510:31Hahn (forearm) officially placed on 15-day DL on Saturday
Hahn (forearm) was officially placed on the 15-day DL on Saturday.
Hahn has already been shut down, so this was just a formality. Hahn has already received Tommy John surgery in his career, so all attempts will be made to avoid a second go-around. Chris Bassitt will take Hahn's rotation spot.
Fri Jul 10 201517:09Hahn has forearm strain and will be shut down for two weeks
Hahn has a forearm strain and will be shut down for two weeks, reports Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Hahn will likely officially go on the DL Saturday when the A's need to activate Chris Bassitt to make the start in Hahn's spot. Hahn has been effective so far in 2015 with six wins and a 3.35 in 96.2 innings. The A's will likely take it easy in bringing Hahn back considering their record and Hahn's injury history with a Tommy John surgery in his past in 2010. After being shut down for two weeks, even the best case scenario probably brings Hahn back to the A's in 3-4 weeks.
Thu Jul 9 201517:07Jesse Hahn: (Elbow) Scratched From Next Start
Updating a previous note, Hahn (elbow) has been scratched from his scheduled start Saturday due to tightness in his elbow, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Hahn is still experiencing issues in his elbow following Wednesday's bullpen session. The A's have ordered a precautionary MRI, and more information should be available once the results of the scan are returned. Oakland announced Chris Bassitt will get the start Saturday in place of Hahn.
Thu Jul 9 201516:56Hahn (elbow) will undergo precautionary MRI
Hahn (elbow) will undergo a precautionary MRI, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Hahn threw a bullpen session Wednesday, and while he did not suffer a setback, his elbow is now showing improvement, so the team will order an MRI to ensure he doesn't have any structural damage. As of now, Hahn is expected to be on the hill for Saturday's game against Cleveland.

Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Jesse Hahn has been scratched from his scheduled start Saturday against the Cleveland Indians due to tightness in his elbow, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Jesse Hahn has been scratched from his scheduled start Saturday against the Cleveland Indians due to tightness in his elbow, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Hahn, who is being rested after experiencing discomfort in his elbow during Wednesday's bullpen session, underwent a precautionary MRI on Thursday. “We’ve done that occasionally with guys,” Athletics manager Bob Melvin said. “They can be a little banged up this point of the year, or you look at innings at this point in their career, and in his case, it’s a little bit of both.” Hahn has thrown 96.2 innings already this season after throwing just 115.1 all of last year, the most of his professional career. The upcoming All-Star break will afford the 25-year-old some extra rest, and he is expected to be ready to return once the second half of the season commences.

Hahn's next start won't come until Saturday against the Indians while he continues to recover from a minor elbow issue, the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser reports.
Hahn acknowledged after his start last week against the Rockies that he was experiencing some slight tightness in his elbow, so the Athletics opted to give him some extra rest with the All-Star break approaching. The right-hander had initially been scheduled to take the ball Tuesday against the Yankees, but with the nine-day layoff between outings, he'll only get a one-start week. The Athletics signed off on Hahn's return to the rotation Saturday after he completed a bullpen session Wednesday without incident.

Hahn evened his record at 6-6 with six strong innings against the Rockies on Wednesday, striking out six while allowing one run on four hits and two walks.
Hahn's been rolling along recently, giving up just a single run in three of his last four starts, but fantasy owners should be particularly encouraged by the bat-missing ability and control he's shown in his last two outings. The 25-year-old's whiff rate -- just 5.76 K/9 -- has lagged well behind last season's impressive 8.59 mark, but he's also cut his walk rate sharply while encouraging plenty of ground balls. Hahn next draws the Yankees on Tuesday.

Hahn struck out five and walked one while holding the Royals to five runs -- three earned -- on nine hits over six innings in a losing effort Friday night.
Although he's not missing bats at a high clip, Hahn has pitched well in June with an 18:10 K:BB, 2.90 ERA, and 1.23 WHIP over 31 innings. Hahn will make a home start against Colorado on Wednesday in his next scheduled outing.
