Sat Mar 28 201516:09Jesse Hahn: Expected To Start Second Game For A's
Hahn is expected to start the second game of the season for the A's, April 7 against the Rangers, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
After tossing 5.1 innings of one-run ball against Texas on Friday, Hahn deemed himself "season ready." Despite an underwhelming 11:5 K:BB in 17.2 spring innings, Hahn has posted a 3.06 ERA so far in Cactus League play, and it sounds like he'll enter the year with a fairly secure rotation spot, slotting in even ahead of Scott Kazmir. However, after tossing 115.2 innings last year, it's entirely possible he could transition to the bullpen at some point down the line.

Hahn had a strong performance in Saturday's spring game, tossing five shutout innings against the Reds.
Hahn lowered his spring ERA to 3.65 and the start was called "impressive" by manager Bob Melvin. Hahn figures to have the inside track on one of the A's empty rotation spots.

Hahn is a strong bet to take the A's starting rotation, says Jane Lee of MLB.com.
Hahn, acquired when the A's traded Derek Norris to San Diego, had a strong major league debut with the Padres in 2014, posting a 3.07 ERA with a 8.6 K/9 over 73.1 innings. Hahn appears to be a leading candidate for one of the open A's rotation spots, but after throwing a career-high 114.2 innings in 2014 (across the minors and majors), it remains to be seen how many innings the A's would allow him to throw in 2015.
Thu Dec 18 201421:26Jesse Hahn: Traded To Oakland
The Padres traded Hahn along with R.J. Alvarez to the A's on Thursday for Derek Norris, Seth Streich and an international signing slot, Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports reports.
Hahn enjoyed a great deal of success in his first stint in the majors last season, posting a 3.07 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 70:32 K:BB in 14 appearances (12 starts) spanning 73.1 innings. The right-hander relies heavily on his outstanding 12-6 curveball to complement a low-90s fastball, while using his slider and changeup sparingly. With just two truly reliable offerings (at the moment), it's possible Hahn could ultimately end up in a late-inning role with Oakland, though the A's figure to keep him stretched out early on.
Sat Aug 30 201417:38Hahn recalled from Double-A San Antonio on Saturday
Hahn was recalled from Double-A San Antonio on Saturday.
The Padres sent Hahn to San Antonio earlier this month as a way to manage his innings, and he will likely work exclusively as a reliever over the remainder of the season. While Hahn has been brilliant in his 12 starts for San Diego (2.96 ERA, 1.13 WHIP), he maxed out at 69 innings last season and the team understandably doesn't want him throwing more than 140 this year.

Manager Bud Black would not commit to Hahn jumping back in the rotation once he returns to the Padres on Sept. 1, MLB.com's Corey Brock reports.
The Padres have a lot of young arms that could use some big league pitching experience when rosters expand, since San Diego does not have playoff aspirations. Hahn was fantastic in his first taste of the big leagues this year, but if he isn't used in the rotation again this year, he won't be of much use to fantasy owners. The size and format of the league will dictate whether it's worth holding him, but with only 30 innings left before he reaches his 140-inning cap, there's limited upside even if he does get a few more starts this season.
Tue Aug 19 201419:24Jesse Hahn: Will Return To Padres When Rosters Expand
Hahn, who was optioned to Double-A San Antonio on Tuesday, will be recalled when rosters expand on Sept. 1, MLB.com's Corey Brock reports.
He has not thrown his last pitch for the Padres this season, although it's unclear how many starts he'll be able to make, as he's currently 30 innings away from hitting the 140-inning cap the team has for him this season.
Tue Aug 19 201418:31Hahn optioned to Double-A San Antonio on Monday
Hahn was optioned to Double-A San Antonio on Monday.
Hahn is roughly 30 innings away from his 140-inning cap this season, but the Padres apparently want him to get most or all of those in the minor leagues after he turned heads during his stint with the big-league club. He posted a 2.96 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP in 12 starts with San Diego, but may have been wearing down, as he was much less effective in his last three outings. The team hasn't said that Hahn will stay in the minors for the rest of the season, but given the limited amount of innings he has left to offer, those in shallower single-season leagues may want to cut ties.
Sun Aug 17 201402:46Hahn expected to be capped at 140 innings this season
Hahn is expected to be capped at 140 innings this season, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
After tossing 5.2 innings Saturday against the Cardinals -- he allowed five runs on seven hits and one walk to go with three strikeouts -- Hahn's odometer currently reads 110.1 innings, which includes 27.2 and 26 frames for the Padres in June and July, respectively. However, he wasn't in the majors full-time in the former, and the All-Star break pushed him to the minors in the latter, so unless manager Bud Black institutes an innings cap per outing, Hahn will likely reach the aforementioned threshold well before the regular season concludes.

Hahn (7-3) gave up three runs on five hits with three walks and five strikeouts in five-plus innings against the Rockies on Monday.
Hahn had only allowed two hits through five innings, but things came unraveled in the sixth when the first two batters singled followed by a Corey Dickerson three-run homer. The rookie is having a very good season and now sports a 2.52 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 62 strikeouts over 64.1 innings. He will take the mound next in St. Louis on Saturday.

Hahn pitched 5.2 innings, allowing three runs on four hits and four walks, while striking out three batters in picking up his third loss (7-3) of the year in Tuesday's game against the Twins.
After a string of three-straight starts (spanning 19 innings) of allowing no more than one run, Hahn came back down to earth a little Tuesday although not bad by any stretch. Upon allowing four runs in 3.2 innings in his first start on June 3 against the Pirates, Hahn has not allowed more than three runs in any of his nine following starts. That's consistency at it's finest. Hahn will make his next start Monday at home against the Rockies.

Hahn (7-2) pitched well again Wednesday versus the Cardinals, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out three over seven innings.
He took a shutout into the seventh inning before allowing an RBI single to Peter Bourjos. Hahn has posted a quality start in seven of nine outings this year, including his last four, and has recorded a 1.44 ERA since being recalled on June 14. He'll travel to Minnesota for an interleague matchup against the Twins in his next start.
Thu Jul 31 201401:32Hahn allows 1 run to Cards over seven innings
Jesse Hahn fired seven innings of one-run ball, allowing four hits, in a 12-1 victory over the Cardinals on Wednesday.
Hahn, who was lifted after 95 pitches having run out of gas, whiffed a trio and also walked two. This was the right-hander's seventh win in his last eight starts. Hahn, a 2010 sixth-round pick who came to San Diego along with Alex Torres for Logan Forsythe, Brad Boxberger, Matt Andriese, and Maxx Tissenbaum in January, entered this evening 6-1 with a 1.47 ERA in seven starts since returning to the rotation on June 14. The 24-year-old right-hander boasts a 1.88 ERA and 1.01 WHIP over his first nine major league outings. Hahn has a nice matchup on deck, getting the Twins in the Twin Cities on Tuesday.

Mon Jul 28 201413:00Bud Black: Jesse Hahn has '5-10 starts left'
Padres manager Bud Black said this weekend that Jesse Hahn has "between five and 10 starts left."
Hahn threw just 69 innings last season in the Rays' minor league system after returning from Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery and has already totaled 87 innings this season between Double-A San Antonio and big-league San Diego. The 24-year-old right-hander boasts a 2.12 ERA and 1.05 WHIP over his first eight major league outings, but it would probably be wise to sell high now in fantasy leagues. He won't be much help down the stretch.

Fri Jul 25 201423:13Hahn goes six innings in win vs. Braves
Jesse Hahn fired six innings of one-run ball in a 5-2 win over the Braves on Friday.
Hahn was solid in his return to the majors, allowing just three hits and three walks while striking out four batters. The only run scored on a sacrifice fly from Justin Upton his final inning of work. The 24-year-old now owns a 2.12 ERA and 51/19 K/BB ratio in 46 2/3 innings over eight starts this season. The Padres don't figure to score many runs for him (even after the past two nights), but he should be relevant in mixed leagues as long as he's in the rotation.

Hahn was sent down over the All-Star break in order to keep pitching. The rookie has been excellent over 40 2/3 innings for San Diego, posting a 2.21 ERA and 1.06 WHIP with 47 strikeouts. He should be scooped back up in leagues where he was dropped.

Sat Jul 12 201401:51Jesse Hahn beats Dodgers, goes to 5-2
Jesse Hahn moved to 5-2 after limiting the Dodgers to one run and three hits in six innings Friday.
Hahn struck out six and walked four in his latest gem. Since returning to the majors on June 14, he's won five of his six starts, allowing just six earned runs over 37 innings. However, while Hahn figures to remain an asset in mixed leagues in the coming weeks, he's a prime candidate to be shut down for the season in early or mid-September. Prepare accordingly.
