Tue Jul 22 201411:53Report: Yanks have checked in on John Danks
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Yankees have checked in with the White Sox about the availability of left-hander John Danks.
There's nothing to indicate that the two sides are close to a deal, but Yankees general manager Brian Cashman hasn't made any secret about his desire to add starting pitching. Danks owns a 4.35 ERA and 87/46 K/BB ratio over 124 innings this season, so he's not quite the pitcher he once was. There's still around $34 million remaining on his contract, which runs through 2016. He has a six-team no-trade list, but it's unclear if the Yankees are on it.

Sun Jul 20 201418:15Danks smoked by Astros, but takes no-decision
John Danks allowed seven runs over 4 1/3 innings, but took a no-decision as the White Sox lost 11-7 on Sunday.
Danks has been prone to this type of blow-up outing, but had looked better as of late, entering Sunday's start with a 2.73 ERA over his previous four outings. The Astros were able to bang out 12 hits, including home runs by Matt Dominguez and Jose Altuve. Danks did not issue a walk and struck out four as he watched his ERA balloon to 4.35. He'll try to bounce back against the Twins on the road on Friday.

Sun Jul 13 201416:29Danks pitches well in loss Sunday
John Danks yielded just one run over seven innings but took a no-decision in Sunday's loss to the Indians.
He permitted seven hits, walked two and struck out four. Danks allowed an RBI single to Yan Gomes in the second inning and that was it, but he failed to pick up a victory when Javy Guerra served up a two-run homer to Gomes in the eighth. The veteran left-hander got roughed up in Minnesota last month but has overall been great since late May, posting a 2.69 ERA over his last 10 starts.

Tue Jul 8 201422:52Danks escapes with 8th win against the RedSox
John Danks escaped with his eighth win of the season, yielding three runs over 5 2/3 innings as the White Sox took an 8-3 victory over the Red Sox on Tuesday.
Tuesday's outing was only the lefty's second mediocre outing out of his last nine starts, posting a 2.85 ERA over that span. Against the Red Sox, danks relented eight hits and four walks while striking out four. Danks now sports a 4.15 ERA, a 1.38 WHIP, and a 79/44 K/BB ratio. He'll go for win number nine to wrap up the first half when he takes on the Indians in Cleveland on Sunday.

John Danks matched his career high with 10 strikeouts while allowing two runs over 7 2/3 innings Wednesday against the Angels.

Fri Jun 27 201422:22Danks allows two runs in six innings vs TOR
John Danks surrendered two runs over six innings in a 5-4 win against the Blue Jays on Friday.
The only real blemishes on Danks' outing were back-to-back home runs by Edwin Encarnacion and Dioner Navarro in the sixth. The solo shots momentarily tied up the game at 2-2, but the White Sox offense put up three in the seventh to secure Danks' seventh win of the year. His final line was six innings, five hits, two runs, two strikeouts and no walks. He'll take his 4.26 ERA against the Angels next time out.

John Danks allowed six runs on 10 hits over five innings in Sunday's loss to the Twins.
Danks didn't have much of anything working for him, as he also walked four. The loss was his first in his last four starts, as he'd won three straight heading into Sunday. His ERA slipped to 4.34 in the loss, and he'll carry a 6-6 record into Friday's meeting with the Blue Jays north of the border.

The lefty gave up five hits and three walks in all, striking out four. The win was his fifth straight quality start allowing two runs or fewer, and his three-game winning streak has run his record to 6-5. Danks will carry a 3.97 ERA and 1.31 WHIP into Sunday's start at the Twins.

Wed Jun 11 201423:51John Danks strong for seven in win
John Danks pitched seven innings of two-run ball in a victory over the Tigers on Wednesday.
Since falling to 3-4 with a 5.64 ERA on May 18, Danks has allowed five runs over 29 1/3 innings in his last four starts, lowering his ERA to 4.17. We'd be more optimistic if he hadn't struck out a modest 17 during the span. It's a given that Danks is going to start allowing more homers again. He can be a decent enough starter for the White Sox, but he's not a mixed-league kind of fantasy pitchers these days.

Thu Jun 5 201401:18Danks allows 2 hits, 1 ER in 7+ inning gem
John Danks fired 7 1/3 innings of one-run ball, allowing only two hits, in Wednesday's 2-1 victory over the Dodgers.
He whiffed five and issued three free passes. Danks had allowed only one hit all game in the eighth inning when Leury Garcia made an awkward attempt at a Dee Gordon grounder slapped down the line and played it into a double, ending the starter's night. Gordon scored later in the inning. Danks went 0-3 with a 4.21 ERA over his last four starts, but he'd been afforded just six runs of support over that stretch. It's not like he's been struggling -- Danks gave up only two runs in 15 innings over his last two starts and was 0-1 to show for it. The veteran southpaw, now 4-5 with a 4.32 ERA, looks to stay red hot as he welcomes division rival Detroit to the Windy City on Tuesday.

Fri May 30 201423:36Danks goes seven innings in loss
John Danks gave up two runs over seven innings Friday in a loss to the Padres.
Danks tossed eight scoreless innings last time out before Ronald Belisario coughed up the lead and he suffered from a lack of run support this time around. The go-ahead run scored on a wild pitch from Danks in the fifth inning. He fanned four and walked one in the loss and now stands at 3-5 with a 4.66 ERA through 11 starts. The veteran southpaw will face the Dodgers next week on the road.

Sat May 24 201417:17Danks fires eight scoreless in no-decision
John Danks fired eight scoreless innings in Saturday against the Yankees, but was handed a no-decision.
Tough luck for Danks, who pitched his best game in two years. The southpaw was dominant, holding the Yankees to just three hits and no walks while fanning four batters. He retired 12 batters in a row at one point. This was the first time this season that he didn't walk a batter. A promising sign considering that he entered Saturday's start with 26 walks in just 52 2/3 innings. He'll look to build off this one when he faces the Padres next week at home.

Sun May 18 201418:31John Danks gives up eight runs in loss
John Danks was pounded for eight runs -- seven earned -- and three homers in 4 2/3 innings by the Astros on Sunday.
Danks allowed one homer in 31 innings in April. This month, he's given up seven in 21 2/3 innings. He's not as bad as he's been lately, but since he's also not as good as he was during the first month, he's strictly an AL-only pitcher these days.

Tue May 13 201401:14Danks takes loss, but earns 2nd straight QS
John Danks allowed three runs on six hits in six innings and struck out five in Monday's 5-4 setback against the A's.
The veteran southpaw was doing just fine in a pitcher's duel across Jesse Chavez until Josh Donaldson took him deep for a two-run homer in the fifth inning. He still earned his second consecutive quality start, progress the White Sox will take after Danks surrendered eight runs over five innings to the Indians in his first May outing. Danks will strive to remain quality Sunday next time out in a matchup with the league's worst team at Houston.

Wed May 7 201423:53John Danks earns win over Cubs
John Danks allowed three runs in six innings and struck out eight Wednesday in a win over the Cubs.
Danks had to be disappointed prior to this one, as the White Sox sent down his younger brother earlier in the day, but he pitched well enough to halt a two-start losing streak and establish a new season high for strikeouts. He entered with a 21/20 K/BB ratio in 36 innings, so the 8/1 mark tonight was pretty encouraging, even if it did come against the Cubs.

Fri May 2 201422:47John Danks obliterated in loss to Indians
John Danks was obliterated in Friday's loss to the Indians, giving up eight runs on 10 hits over his five innings of work.
The veteran southpaw walked three and struck out three in the disappointing effort. The Indians jumped on him early in this one, striking for five runs in the first and putting the game virtually out of reach. Danks now sports a horrifying 5.00 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 21/20 K/BB ratio through 36 innings on the season and shouldn't be considered anything more than a matchup plays in deep mixed leagues. He'll do battle against the Cubs at home on Wednesday.

Sat Apr 26 201422:29Danks yields four runs in loss to the Rays
John Danks yielded four earned runs in 5 2/3 innings Saturday as the White Sox fell to the Rays.
It was a big step backward for Danks, who had rattled off four straight quality starts to open the 2014 season. He gave up seven Tampa Bay hits and walked four batters, falling to 2-1 on the year with a 3.48 ERA and 1.42 WHIP. The left-hander will pitch in Cleveland next.

Mon Apr 21 201422:46John Danks earns win over Tigers
John Danks limited the Tigers to one run in 6 1/3 innings in a victory over the Tigers on Monday.
Danks is 4-for-4 turning in quality starts so far, though he's done it with a modest 14 strikeouts (versus 13 walks) in 25 1/3 innings. It's safe to say that the strikeout-to-walk ratio will improve, but his 2.84 ERA will probably worsen anyway. He's a mediocre play in mixed leagues.

Thu Apr 17 201401:45John Danks strong for six innings
John Danks pitched six innings of one-run ball versus the Red Sox on Wednesday.
Danks gave up hits to the first three batters he faced and then not another one for the rest of his outing. In fact, the Red Sox didn't have another hit until the ninth. Danks ended up with a no-decision despite leaving with a two-run lead. He's 3-for-3 in quality starts this season, but he has just one win to show for it.
