Fri Apr 11 201400:06John Danks notches first victory
John Danks picked up a win after allowing three runs in six innings Thursday against the Indians.
Danks no longer possesses the upside to be one of the AL's better lefties, but he's looking pretty solid in his first full year back from shoulder surgery. He allowed six hits, walked two and struck out four tonight.

Fri Mar 21 201420:36John Danks roughed up in loss to Cubs
John Danks was roughed up in Friday's loss to the Cubs, allowing four runs on six hits over his five innings of work.
The 28-year-old lefty fanned a pair without walking a batter on the afternoon. All of the damage came in a four-run fourth inning, highlighted by a three-run blast from Luis Valbuena. Even with the rough day, he still owns a 3.50 ERA on the spring season, but his 8/8 K/BB ratio isn't desirable.

Sun Mar 16 201422:05Danks surrenders three runs to Rangers
John Danks struggled a bit in Sunday's Cactus League outing against the Rangers, surrendering three runs on seven hits over five frames.
The veteran southpaw walked three and struck out three. He now owns a 2.08 ERA on the spring, but has posted a troubling 6/8 K/BB ratio over 13 innings of work. He'll take the ball every fifth day in the White Sox rotation, but his fantasy upside is limited.

Tue Mar 11 201417:46Danks blanks the Rangers on Tuesday
John Danks blanked the Rangers for five innings in Tuesday's start.
Danks allowed four hits and three walks, but was able to dance his way out of danger. The lefty hasn't been much help out of the rotation over the last two seasons due to injuries, but recently expressed satisfaction with his progress in spring training. The White Sox could certainly use a rebound season from Danks in the middle of their rotation.

Fri Mar 7 201409:33John Danks clocked at 90-91 mph Thursday
John Danks was clocked at 90-91 mph during his three scoreless innings in his Cactus League debut Thursday.
It's a tick harder than what he was throwing last season, when his velocity dipped to a career-low 89.3 mph, according to FanGraphs. Danks was also pleased with his cutter, which is his best pitch when he's right. "It's just strengthening, being able to get my arm where it needs to be and have enough behind [the cutter] to spin it right and make it move,'' Danks said. "Last year, I had trouble spinning it, and it was backing up on me and getting hit. This year, I'm able to drive the ball where I want, and that was proved by being able to throw it to both sides of the plate with the sharp break on it.'' Now one and a half years removed from shoulder surgery, Danks is a bounce-back candidate after last season's 4.75 ERA.

Sat Feb 22 201412:58John Danks feels good despite low velocity
John Danks said Saturday that he currently feels great, and is not concerned about his velocity at this point in spring camp.
Once he gets his arm strength back up, the velocity should come with it. More important in his mind, is making sure his cutter is sharp again, as it's a major weapon for him when he's going right.

Sat Feb 15 201411:55John Danks feels healthy, rejuvenated
John Danks declared Saturday that he's healthy and that the ball is coming out of his hand much better than it did a season ago.
The 29-year-old southpaw feels rejuvenated and is locked into a spot in the White Sox starting rotation. For a three-year stretch from 2008-2010 he did own a 3.61 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 6.95 K/9, so he has displayed the skills before, however with the White Sox anemic offense working behind him his outlook for victories doesn't look good.

Mon Dec 9 201313:02White Sox 'would love to' unload John Danks
Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports says the White Sox "would love to offload" John Danks' contract.
But Passan then notes that they're unlikely to find any takers. Danks posted a 4.75 ERA and 89/27 K/BB ratio in 138 1/3 innings this year for Chicago after returning from left shoulder surgery in late May. He is owed $14.25 million per season through the 2016 campaign. The White Sox are expected to unload a starter -- possibly Chris Sale -- at some point this winter.

Fri Sep 20 201316:56John Danks likely done for season
John Danks will likely be shut down for the rest of the season.
Danks is healthy, but the White Sox would prefer to give him an early start on his offseason. The southpaw made it back from shoulder surgery in late May and ended up posting a 4.75 ERA and 89/27 K/BB ratio over 138 1/3 innings. Perhaps he'll gain more strength in the shoulder in time, but he's off the mixed league radar entering 2014.
