Duffy will start getting work at first base, and he could get a start at the position Saturday against the Padres, CSN Bay Area's Alex Pavlovic reports.
Duffy's stint at first base probably wouldn't last long, as the Giants hope to have Brandon Belt (groin) available by Monday, and haven't even ruled him out for the upcoming weekend. While Duffy thus seems unlikely to add first-base eligibility within the next week or two, he could eventually log enough games at the position to qualify.

Duffy started at second base Wednesday, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in the win over the Diamondbacks.
Manager Bruce Bochy gave Joe Panik the night off, affording Duffy the chance to make his first start of the 2015 season. He played his way on to the 25-man roster this spring with an impressive .361/.400/.639 slash line and has kept it going into the regular season with three hits in five at-bats. He will be limited to a start or two per week, but could become fantasy relevant if any of the Giants' middle infielders go down to injury.
Sun Apr 5 201517:40Duffy officially made Opening Day roster
Duffy officially made the Opening Day roster, CSN Bay Area reports.
Duffy was expected to start the year in the minors, but his slash line of .361/.400/.639 this spring forced management's hand. He beat out Ehire Adrianza for the final utility spot, and he has been taking fly balls in the outfield to add to his already versatile position eligibility. A doubles hitter with speed, Duffy could be a fantasy relevant player with regular playing time, but the Giants would have to be struck by injury for him to get that opportunity early in the year.
Thu Apr 2 201511:40Duffy has strong chance of making Opening Day roster
With it looking like Travis Ishikawa (back) will start the year on the DL, Duffy has a strong chance of making the Opening Day roster, Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Manager Bruce Bochy announced that the disabled list was a "strong possibility" for Ishikawa, and this would allow Duffy to make the 25-man roster to start the season. Duffy has had a strong spring, batting .385 with three homers. He likely won't see regular playing time with Joaquin Arias and Ehire Adrianza both making the squad, but he would all of a sudden become an intriguing option in deeper leagues should any of the Giants' infielders go down with an injury.

Duffy is batting .385 with a three doubles, a triple, a home run, and four RBI this spring.
Duffy is putting pressure on the Giants to earn one of the 25 Opening Day roster spots with his strong play this spring. He has always been able to put the bat on the ball (.304 average through 3 minor league seasons) and has decent speed on the base paths (20 stolen bases at Double-A Richmond last season). The issue for Duffy is that there simply aren't enough bench spots left for another middle infielder. Veteran Joaquin Arias has already locked up a utility role and the Giants prefer Ehire Adrianza's glove to Duffy's. Also working against Duffy is the fact that he does have minor league options available, whereas Adrianza is currently out of options. Duffy should start the year at Triple-A Sacramento and be the first middle infielder called up when the situation arises.

Duffy was recalled by the Giants and will start at second base Friday against the Royals.
The Giants optioned Duffy on Thursday to make room for Angel Pagan, but he never actually left the team and will return to the active roster Friday with Brandon Belt headed to the 7-day concussion DL. While Duffy was expected to platoon with Joe Panik after his initial promotion last week, he will likely be deployed primarily off the bench while up.

Duffy was optioned back to the minors on Thursday.
The expectation was that Duffy would platoon at second base with Joe Panik, but Panik has picked it up at the dish of late and it seems the Giants are content with letting him play everyday. Duffy will head back to the minors, likely to Triple-A Fresno, after batting .332/.398/.444 with Double-A Richmond prior to his callup.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Duffy will platoon at second base with Joe Panik, Alex Pavlovic of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Duffy is making his major league debut Friday against Mets lefty Jon Niese, but it sounds like the left-handed-swinging Panik will see the lion's share of the starts at the keystone moving forward. Dan Uggla was designated for assignment.

Duffy will start at second base and bat second in his major league debut Friday.
Despite having just two games at second base under his belt in the minors, Duffy will be thrown in at they keystone immediately upon arrival to the big club, and he should remain there so long as he holds his own. In 97 games with Double-A Richmond this season, the 23-year-old Duffy has hit .332/.398/.444 with three homers while going 20-for-24 on the basepaths.
Fri Aug 1 201414:44Duffy called up from Double-A Richmond on Friday
Duffy was called up from Double-A Richmond on Friday, Alex Pavlovic of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
The Giants pulled the plug on Dan Uggla and Tyler Colvin on Friday, designating both for assignment, and Duffy and outfielder Jarrett Parker will make the jump from Double-A. A shortstop by trade, Duffy may very well be tasked with handling primary duties at second base for San Francisco, after batting a robust .332/.398/.444 with three homers and 20 steals (24 attempts) in 97 games with Richmond.
