Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton is not in the lineup on Saturday against the Detroit Tigers. It appears that the Twins are giving their All-Star an extra day of rest following the break. Wed Jul 20 202200:20Byron Buxton Hits Go-Ahead Homer Tuesday
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton made his mark in Tuesday's All-Star Game, going 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a strikeout in the American League's 3-2 win. Buxton followed up Giancarlo Stanton's fourth-inning two-run HR with a solo blast, crushing a high Tony Gonsolin offering into the left-field seats for what would be the winning run. The 28-year-old has managed to stay healthy so far this season, compiling a .216/.293/.531 slash line with 23 HR, 43 RBI, and two steals. The batting average and steals have not been what fantasy managers were hoping for, but the power and most importantly health have been there. Buxton will remain a fantasy asset as long as he can stay on the field.

Fri Jul 15 202208:48Byron Buxton Tallies Two Hits In Loss To White Sox
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton went 2-for-4 with a triple in the team's 12-2 loss to the Chicago White Sox on Thursday. July hasn't been kind to the 28-year-old thus far. This was his first multi-hit outing of the month. He's carried an ugly .128/.196/.383 slash line across 11 July games while striking out 18 times. It's been a weird year overall for Buxton. His 23 home runs are tied for seventh-most in the majors and he ranks in the 95th percentile in average exit velocity (92.7 mph) and in the 96th percentile in barrel rate (16.2%). However, he's batting just .212 with a 10th percentile strikeout rate (29.3%).

Fri Jun 24 202217:34Byron Buxton Still Sidelined Friday
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (knee) remains out of the starting lineup on Friday against the Colorado Rockies. Buxton will miss his third straight game due to right knee soreness. It's not an ailment that is expected to land him on the injured list, but the Twins are being extra cautious with the oft-injured star outfielder. The Twins remain hopeful that the 28-year-old will be able to return at some point this weekend, so fantasy managers should consider Buxton day-to-day. Buxton has as much upside as any player out there when he's healthy, so he's a must-start anytime he's in the lineup. Gilberto Celestino is in center field and is batting ninth on Friday against Rockies right-hander German Marquez.

Thu Jun 23 202214:27Twins Hope Byron Buxton Will Return Friday Or Saturday
Minnesota Twins skipper Rocco Baldelli is hoping that outfielder Byron Buxton (knee) will be able to return to the starting lineup on Friday or Saturday against the Colorado Rockies. Buxton is missing his second straight game on Thursday against the Cleveland Guardians due to a sore right knee, but it appears the Twins are just continuing to be extra cautious with the oft-injured outfielder. The 28-year-old is hitting just .228 on the season, but he also has 19 home runs, 33 RBI and 38 runs scored in 51 games, making him a must-start when he's on the field. Fantasy managers will hopefully be able to get him back in their lineups this weekend, but given his track record, you shouldn't be surprised if he's not in there.

Thu Jun 23 202211:28Byron Buxton Sidelined Against Guardians
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (knee) is not in the starting lineup on Thursday against the Cleveland Guardians. It will be Buxton's second straight game on the bench as he manages a sore right knee that flared up after Tuesday's game. The Twins don't think the 28-year-old will land on the injured list, but with the oft-injured Buxton, fantasy managers should always be prepared for that possibility. He's hitting just .228 on the season, but he also has 19 home runs, 33 RBI and 38 runs scored in 51 games played, making him a must-start fantasy player when he's in the lineup. Nick Gordon is starting in center field again and is hitting ninth on Thursday against Guardians right-hander Zach Plesac. Gordon, who is hitting .261 with one homer in 142 at-bats, will be a low-upside DFS play.

Thu Jun 23 202209:13Byron Buxton Dealing With A Knee Injury
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (knee) was held out of Wednesday's game against the Cleveland Guardians due to a right knee injury. Twins manager Rocco Baldelli stated that Buxton "couldn't move around well enough" to play in the game while adding, "He wasn't going to be able to produce out there based on the way he felt." Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com also reported that Buxton had a "pretty heavy wrap" on his right leg as he walked out of the clubhouse after the game. The team has been regularly resting Buxton this year, but his absence on Wednesday was more injury-related than rest-related. He's had ongoing problems with his right knee, so it's especially concerning to see the issue flaring up again. He should be considered day-to-day with a chance to sit out Thursday's series finale against the Guardians as well.

Sat Jun 11 202213:17Byron Buxton Sitting Out On Saturday
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton is sitting out on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rays. This is just a routine day of rest for the 28-year-old, who's been on fire since the calendar flipped to June. Buxton has homered six times in the last six games and is on pace to shatter his previous career-high of 19 bombs. On the year, he's slashing .236/.317/.594 with 17 home runs, 30 RBI, and one stolen base over 165 at-bats. Gilberto Celestino is starting in center field and batting seventh.

Fri Jun 10 202200:46Byron Buxton Blasts Two Bombs
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton had a nice day at the plate on Thursday as he homered twice during the club's 10-7 loss to the Yankees. He took Gerrit Cole deep in the first inning as a part of back-to-back-to-back homers, and then he victimized the right-hander again the following inning for a three-run shot. He finished the contest going 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs, and four RBI as he's now hitting a sharp .391 with four bombs so far in June. For the season, Buxton is still trying to build on his lowly .231 BA after an extensive slump in May, but his 15 HR, 32 runs, and 28 RBI through 42 games are still pulling their weight.

Sun Jun 5 202211:02Byron Buxton Out Against Blue Jays
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton is not in the starting lineup on Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Twins continue to rest Buxton pretty regularly in order to keep the oft-injured outfielder healthy for the long haul. Buxton is hitting .192 (9-for-47) with one home run and 13 strikeouts in his last two weeks and is batting .216 on the season with a .295 on-base percentage, but he also has 12 home runs, 23 RBI and 27 runs scored. Fantasy managers would like more than just one stolen base as well, but at this point, they should just be happy that he's not on the injured list. The 28-year-old has looked better over the last week, so hopefully he's heating up as we approach the summer. Gilberto Celestino is in center field and is batting seventh against Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman on Sunday.

Buxton has also chipped in 21 RBI and 25 runs scored in 33 games played. Nick Gordon is in center field and is batting eighth on Monday against Tigers right-hander Beau Brieske. Mon May 16 202215:14Byron Buxton In The Lineup Again Monday
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (knee) is in the starting lineup for the second straight day on Monday, starting in center field and batting leadoff against Oakland Athletics left-hander Zach Logue. Buxton has been battling through a knee issue of late, but it's nice to see him playing in his second straight game. The Twins are being cautious with the oft-injured 28-year-old, though, so don't be surprised to see him take a day to rest more often than not until he gets past the injury. Buxton is a must-start fantasy asset in single-year leagues anytime he's playing, and he's hitting .259/.330/.706 with a 1.036 OPS, 11 home runs, 19 RBI and 20 runs scored in 23 games. He has just one steal and hasn't had double-digit thefts since 2019, but he will pack the stat sheet elsewhere when healthy.

Sun May 8 202216:14Byron Buxton Day-To-Day With A Mild Hip Strain
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (hip) is day-to-day with a "low-level right hip strain." After exiting Saturday's contest early with hip tightness, the 28-year-old was held out of Sunday's game against the Oakland Athletics. His injury isn't related to any previous hip issues, and the Twins sound optimistic that he will return to the lineup Tuesday when Minnesota faces the Astros. Gilbert Celestino drew the start and would see an uptick in at-bats while Buxton is sidelined. Buxton's injury is reportedly mild, and fantasy managers should continue to roll with him when he returns early next week. The former first-round pick is slashing .271/.307/.575 with nine home runs, 17 RBI, 17 runs, and a stolen base over 79 plate appearances in 2022.

Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (hip) was forced to exit early during Saturday's game against the Oakland Athletics. He was pulled out in the seventh inning with what appeared to be knee soreness. However, the organization is considering Buxton day-to-day with hip tightness. Through three games this month, he's gone 5-for-14 with a home run, a double, two RBI and four runs scored. The 28-year-old is currently fifth in the majors with seven home runs on the season, despite playing just 17 games. Expect to see him back on the field for the series finale against the Orioles on Thursday.

Sun May 1 202211:06Byron Buxton Returns Against Rays
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (hand) is back in center field and is hitting leadoff on Sunday against Tampa Ray Rays left-hander Josh Fleming. Buxton was a late scratch from the starting lineup on Saturday due to a right hand contusion, but it obviously wasn't a very serious injury, and he came off the bench in Saturday's game. The 28-year-old has gone hitless in 11 at-bats over his last three games, but he's still hitting .271 with a 1.069 OPS, six home runs, 11 RBI, 11 runs scored and one stolen base in 53 plate appearances in the first month of the season. Despite Buxton's recent cold streak, fantasy managers should be putting him back into their starting lineups in single-season redraft leagues.
