Manager Chip Hale indicated Sunday that Rubby De La Rosa is in good position to secure a spot in the starting rotation, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.
De La Rosa entered camp without a guaranteed spot in the rotation, but a 3.75 ERA with 11 strikeouts in 12 innings appears to have done enough to earn him a spot. However, he's also walked 11 and allowed seven hits over those frames. De La Rosa has a spot in the rotation for now, but his leash may not be long with some top pitching prospects waiting in the wings.

De La Rosa is not considered a lock for the Arizona rotation to begin the season, but he is leading candidate to handle one of the three open spots behind Josh Collmenter and Jeremy Hellickson.
With a long list of options in camp vying for the three available spots, and the potential for prospects Archie Bradley, Braden Shipley, and Aaron Blair to push their way into the mix at some point in 2015, De La Rosa will have to pitch well in order to secure a spot regardless of whether he breaks camp as a member of the rotation, or has to wait for one of his counterparts to struggles. Thus far, the Diamondbacks haven't provided any indication that De La Rosa would shift to the bullpen if he fails to begin the year as a starter.

De La Rosa is currently a penciled into the Diamondbacks' rotation for 2015, Fox Sports Arizona's Jack Magruder reports.
General manager Dave Stewart named De La Rosa, along with Josh Collmenter, Jeremy Hellickson and Allen Webster as four pitchers that would be assured of a spot in the rotation as things currently stand. A lot can change between now and the start of the 2015 season, but it would seem that De La Rosa will enter spring training as a strong favorite to be a part of Arizona's rotation. While De La Rosa's fastball works in the mid-90s, he wasn't much of a strikeout pitcher in 2014, notching just 74 strikeouts in 101.2 innings with Boston. His 4.03 xFIP points to the likelihood of De La Rosa pitching like a back-end starter in 2015.
Wed Dec 10 201422:18De La Rosa traded to Diamondbacks on Wednesday
De La Rosa was traded to the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, along with Allen Webster and a minor league prospect, in exchange for Wade Miley, FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports.
De La Rosa's performance over 18 starts with the Red Sox last season was uneven, but he will not turn 26 until March and averaged 94 MPH on his fastball last season, so he still has some upside. He figures to compete with a number of other pitchers this spring for a spot in the Diamondbacks' rotation.

De La Rosa will not start again and may work in the bullpen, John Farrell told the Boston Herald's Scott Lauber.
After pitching 160 innings between the majors and Triple-A, De La Rosa has struggled recently. He hasn't made it into the fifth inning in his last three starts and his ERA is at a season-high 4.50. The Red Sox will likely use De La Rosa sparingly in the hopes that the 25-year-old can rest and be able to bounce back in 2015. Depending on how Boston's free agency plays out, De La Rosa could make the rotation next year.

De La Rosa allowed four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four in four innings in Saturday's loss to the Orioles. He lost his third consecutive start and failed to pitch at least six innings for the fifth straight start.
It seems as if Boston's young starters are hitting a wall, having reached new highs in innings pitched this season. De La Rosa has pitched a career-high 160 innings and it's been showing in this latest run.

De La Rosa allowed five runs on six hits while striking out two in four innings in Saturday night's loss to the Royals. He failed to get a win for the sixth straight start and has one victory in his past 10 starts.
De La Rosa had inconsistent location and couldn't hitters away when he had the opportunity. He's next scheduled to pitch this coming Saturday at Baltimore.

De La Rosa lasted only four innings in Sunday's loss to the Blue Jays, allowing seven hits and three earned runs.
De La Rosa got through the first four frames unscathed, but coughed up a three-run shot to Jose Bautista after allowing a walk to Anthony Gose and then a single to Jose Reyes to open up the top of the fifth. He was pulled immediately thereafter. De La Rosa has seen his ERA rise from 3.21 to 4.01 over his last five starts, but he'll try to get back on track in Kansas City on Saturday.

De La Rosa went 4.2 innings Tuesday against the Jays, giving up three runs on seven hits while walking two and not striking anyone out in a no-decision.
This was the first time all year (14 starts) that the righty posted a goose egg in the strikeout column, which contributed to his blowing an early 3-0 lead that the BoSox bats provided him in the first. De La Rosa's ERA now sits at 3.81 to go with a 1.45 WHIP and 31:58 BB:K this season. He's slated to face the Rays in his next start Monday.

De La Rosa pitched 6.2 effective innings against the Angels on Thursday, but took the loss. He allowed two runs and eight hits, while striking out eight.
Even though De La Rosa held the Angels in check, the Red Sox offense did him no favors, mustering just one hit against Matt Shoemaker and a pair of relievers. De La Rosa has been up-and-down as of late, mixing in strong performances with absolute clunkers. He has some upside and throws hard (average fastball of 93.7 mph), although that hasn't translated into strikeouts, as he's sporting a below average 6.31 K/9IP. He'll look to build on Thursday's performance in his next start at Toronto.

De La Rosa gave up six runs on nine hits over four innings against the Astros on Saturday night.
He did not factor in the decision, however, as the Red Sox managed to put four runs on the board against the Houston relief corps. De La Rosa is positioned to start Thursday at home against the Angels for his next turn in the Boston rotation.

De La Rosa worked seven strong innings, allowing just one earned run on five hits and three walks while racking up eight strikeouts in Sunday's 3-1 victory over the Angels.
Following a miserable outing versus the Blue Jays back on July 24, De La Rosa has now given up just five runs across 19 frames during his last three starts. The young righty is putting together a nice campaign for the Red Sox, as he currently sports an impressive 3.21 ERA to go with a 1.29 WHIP and 45:22 K:BB ratio across 67.1 innings. De La Rosa is slated to be back on the bump Saturday versus the Astros.

De La Rosa pitched six innings, allowing one run on six hits and three walks while striking out three batters in picking up the no-decision in Tuesday's loss to the Cardinals.
Outside of a bad outing on July 24 at Toronto, where he allowed seven runs (six earned) in four innings pitched, De La Rosa has been pitching relatively well. He has now thrown two quality starts in a row and has a respectable 3.43 ERA, 1.31 WHIP in 60.1 innings pitched this year. De La Rosa's next start is scheduled for Sunday on the road against the Angels.
Tue Jul 29 201422:22De La Rosa posts quality start, but gets loss
Rubby De La Rosa notched a quality start on Tuesday, allowing three runs over six innings, but took a loss against the Blue Jays.
It could have been a lot worse for De La Rosa, as the lefty allowed nine hits and walked two while only striking out one batter. The 25-year-old has a 3.64 ERA, a 1.29 WHIP, and a 37/16 K/BB ratio. De La Rosa will begin an eight-game road trip when he takes on the Cardinals on Tuesday.

Thu Jul 24 201415:56Rubby De La Rosa gives up seven runs in loss
Rubby De La Rosa gave up seven runs -- six earned -- in four-plus innings Thursday in a loss to the Blue Jays.
The first-inning run scored on a passed ball and the two-run second probably never would have gotten started had Jackie Bradley Jr. been able to hold on to Juan Francisco's inning-opening triple. Still, it wasn't likely to be a very good outing for De La Rosa regardless. It's the first time in eight starts this season that he's allowed more than four runs, and his ERA jumped from 2.64 to 3.54.

Sat Jul 19 201421:57Rubby De La Rosa throws well in win over KC
Rubby De La Rosa tossed seven innings of one-run ball Saturday as the Red Sox beat the Royals 2-1.
De La Rosa walked four but gave up only five hits to the struggling Kansas City offense. He has a fantastic 2.64 ERA and 1.08 WHIP over 44 1/3 innings (seven starts) this season for Boston and looks to be a strong fantasy option for the second half. The young right-hander will face the Blue Jays in Toronto next week.

Wed Jul 9 201422:26Ruddy De La Rosa gives up three runs
Ruddy De La Rosa yielded three runs and two homers in five innings Wednesday against the White Sox.
Homers from Jose Abreu and Conor Gillaspie scored the first two runs. The third came on a Mike Napoli error, but the run was declared earned because of a triple afterwards. De La Rosa could be sent right back down to Triple-A now because the Red Sox won't need him again until after the break, but he should be the team's fifth starter in the second half. Assuming that happens, he'll be worth playing in AL-only leagues and deeper mixed leagues.

Sun Jul 6 201421:05Rubby De La Rosa expected to start Wednesday
Rubby De La Rosa is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket to start against the White Sox on Wednesday.
With the rainout and subsequent doubleheader that the Red Sox had over the weekend, they'll require an additional starter to make it through the week. The 25-year-old right-hander has impressed through his first five starts with the Red Sox, posting a 2.51 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 30/8 K/BB ratio over 32 1/3 innings.

Red Sox optioned RHP Rubby De La Rosa to Triple-A Pawtucket.
Even with De La Rosa's exceptional 2.51 ERA and 1.02 WHIP in 32 1/2 innings this year, the Red Sox have decided to send him back down. Clay Buchholz took his spot in the starting rotation.
