Sat Jun 21 201421:50Rubby De La Rosa to be sent down to AAA
Rubby De La Rosa is expected to be sent back to Triple-A Pawtucket next week.
De La Rosa has an exceptional 2.51 ERA and 1.02 WHIP in 32 1/3 innings this season in the majors, but the Red Sox need room for Clay Buchholz in the starting rotation. Buchholz was a mess before his knee injury and can't be counted on to suddenly get back on track, so De La Rosa should get another shot soon. The 25-year-old right-hander is still worth stashing in deeper mixed fantasy leagues.

De La Rosa did his part, allowing only four hits and a walk while racking up seven strikeouts. He has an excellent 2.51 ERA and 1.02 WHIP on the year, and will try to keep it rolling next week against the Yankees.

Mon Jun 16 201423:05Rubby De La Rosa shuts down Twins
Rubby De La Rosa allowed just one hit over seven scoreless innings to pick up a win in a 1-0 game against the Twins on Monday.
That's quite the going away present from De La Rosa. Felix Doubront could come off the DL at any time and Clay Buchholz seems likely to return next week, so De La Rosa is almost certainly on his way back to Triple-A, if not now then when Buchholz returns. That despite the fact that he has a 2.84 ERA and a 23/7 K/BB ratio through four starts.

Wed Jun 11 201423:59Rubby De La Rosa gives up four runs in loss
Rubby De La Rosa surrendered four runs in 5 2/3 innings Wednesday in a loss to the Orioles.
After the events of the last two days, there's little doubt that De La Rosa will be replaced prior to Brandon Workman once one of Boston's injured starters returns. That's not to say De La Rosa has been bad, but neither of his last two starts has measured up to his strong season debut.

Fri Jun 6 201421:57Rubby De La Rosa gives up four runs in loss
Rubby De La Rosa struggled in a losing effort against the Tigers on Friday, surrendering four runs on nine hits over 5 2/3 innings of work.
The hard-throwing young right-hander struck out five while walking a pair on the evening. The Tigers scratched out single runs in the third and fourth innings, then broke it open with a pair of solo homers from Ian Kinsler and Torii Hunter in the fifth inning. De La Rosa will look to get back on track when he takes on the Orioles in Baltimore on Wednesday.

Sat May 31 201422:48De La Rosa dominates, Sox win sixth straight
Rubby De La Rosa fired seven scoreless innings Saturday as the Red Sox routed the Rays 7-1.
The Red Sox have won six straight games since snapping their embarrassing 10-game losing streak. It was a brilliant and timely pitching performance from De La Rosa, who yielded just four hits and struck out eight batters without issuing a walk. He was pitching well at Triple-A Pawtucket before his promotion on Saturday morning and has a chance to remain in Boston's rotation for a lengthy period of time. The 25-year-old deserves to be owned in all AL-only fantasy formats and some deeper mixed leagues.

Thu May 29 201422:35Rubby De La Rosa to start for Red Sox Sat.
The Red Sox will call up Rubby De La Rosa to start on Saturday against the Rays.
De La Rosa earned the promotion after posting a 3.04 ERA and 52/23 K/BB ratio over 53 1/3 innings at Triple-A Pawtucket. The 25-year-old hasn't made a start in the majors since 2011, but he has a big arm and is worth a shot in AL-only leagues. With Felix Doubront (shoulder) and Clay Buchholz (knee) out, De La Rosa could stick in the rotation for a while if he pitches well.

De La Rosa had a 7.36 ERA in four appearances this spring in the Grapefruit League. The former Dodgers prospect will presumably be in the starting rotation at Triple-A Pawtucket and could become an emergency option for the Red Sox at some point this summer.

Thu Feb 27 201420:18Rubby De La Rosa goes two scoreless
Rubby De La Rosa pitched a pair of scoreless frames Thursday as a Red Sox split-squad topped Boston College 5-2 in seven innings.
De La Rosa has a lot to prove this season after struggling last year in his first full year back from Tommy John surgery. He still has the potential to pitch in a major league rotation, but if he doesn't take a step forward, a permanent switch to the pen could be in the offing. He'll almost certainly open up at Triple-A Pawtucket.

Rubby De La Rosa decreased his body fat from 20 percent to 13 percent over the offseason.
"I worked hard. I feel better. I feel different," the right-hander said Thursday in Red Sox camp. "I feel like right with my mechanics, my delivery. This year to last year, I feel from 1-10, 10 better." De La Rosa will either open the 2014 season in the Boston bullpen or in the starting rotation at Triple-A Pawtucket.

The 24-year-old righty has appeared in five games with the Red Sox this season, posting a 4.76 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 3/1 K/BB ratio over 5 2/3 innings. One of the key pieces acquired in last season's blockbuster deal with the Dodgers, De La Rosa won't be relevant in fantasy leagues until he cracks the Red Sox starting rotation.

He has a bright future as a starter and could get a chance in the rotation at some point this season, but he's needed in relief now.

Tue Jun 11 201314:15De La Rosa an option to start Wednesday
Red Sox manager John Farrell said on SiriusXM's MLB Network Radio on Tuesday that Rubby De La Rosa is an option to start Wednesday against the Rays.
Franklin Morales was originally expected to make the start, but he was needed in Monday's extra-inning win. De La Rosa would be on three days' rest if he pitches Wednesday, which would obviously be less than ideal. Allen Webster and Alfredo Aceves are also in the mix for the assignment.

Tue May 21 201310:14De La Rosa scratched after tweaking side
Red Sox prospect right-hander Rubby De La Rosa was scratched from Tuesday's start with Triple-A Pawtucket for precautionary reasons after he tweaked a muscle in his side.
It's evidently not a major concern, but the Red Sox didn't want to risk him making things worse. De La Rosa has a 3.65 ERA and 29/14 K/BB ratio in 24 2/3 innings across eight starts this season in Triple-A and should make an impact with the big club before long.

Red Sox optioned RHP Rubby De La Rosa to Triple-A Pawtucket.
Perhaps the most exciting name acquired in the mid-season trade with the Dodgers last year, De La Rosa had virtually no chance of making the team out of spring training. The organization will play it very cautiously with their prized right-hander, who is currently working his way back from Tommy John surgery. Fantasy owners should still keep a close eye on him however, as he should make his way to Boston at some point in 2013.

Fri Mar 1 201323:09Rubby De La Rosa won't begin season in majors
Despite impressive results early in spring training, Red Sox manager John Farrell has indicated that Rubby De La Rosa will not make the team out of spring training.
Furthermore, he went as far to say that he could begin the year at Double-A Portland. The organization is being rightfully cautious with De La Rosa in his first season back from Tommy John surgery, but his stuff is too good to remain in the minor leagues for long. Expect to see him in Boston at some point during the 2013 campaign.
