Tue Apr 9 201300:54Garrett Jones hits one out
Garrett Jones launched a solo homer in Monday's 5-3 win over the Diamondbacks.
The longball -- which came in the eighth inning off of Josh Collmenter -- was Jones' only hit of the night in four trips to the plate, but he'll take it. He'll continue to start at first base against right-handed pitching but isn't a great corner infield option.

Garrett Jones (oblique) will take some dry swings Monday.
Jones is feeling a bit better, but it doesn't sound like he's particularly close to playing in a game. The Pirates will take it slowly with their first baseman, as the slightest setback would likely mean starting the season on the DL.

The left oblique tightness that forced Garrett Jones from Thursday's game isn't considered serious.
"It's really nothing serious," said Jones, who originally felt the tightness Wednesday. "I just didn't want it to escalate into anything more serious right now." While it seems like a minor ailment right now, oblique injuries can linger, so the Pirates figure to take it slowly with him.

Mon Dec 3 201219:11Interest in Pirates' Jones has 'picked up'
Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that interest in Garrett Jones has "picked up."
Biertempfel adds that the Orioles have "lost interest" in Jones, but apparently other clubs are keen on him. It's a little surprising that the Pirates are apparently interested in moving him since they fancy themselves as contenders in 2013. But, with Jones coming off a career-high 27 homers in 2012 and his salary set to shoot up in arbitration, the Bucs might view this as the best time to deal him. If Jones is traded, Gaby Sanchez would be in line to start at first base.
