Tue Aug 28 201212:13Rondon begins rehab assignment
Hector Rondon (elbow) has begun a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Columbus.
Rondon underwent Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery in August of 2010 and then needed another procedure for an elbow fracture in late 2011. The 23-year-old righty was once considered a nice pitching prospect, but he'll have to work to regain that status.

Thu Dec 8 201115:15Indians outright RHP Rondon to minors
Indians sent RHP Hector Rondon outright to Triple-A Columbus.
Rondon was designated for assignment earlier this week. The 22-year-old right-hander missed the entire 2011 season recovering from Tommy John surgery and is expected to miss an additional 6-9 months due to a fractured elbow. The Indians are hopeful he'll be able to pitch at some point next year, but his future is very much up in the air.

Tue Dec 6 201118:20Hector Rondon out 6-9 months
Indians general manager Chris Antonetti says Hector Rondon (fractured elbow) is expected to miss 6-9 months, not the 5-7 months as initially reported.
Rondon had been an intriguing prospect, but his future is up in the air after he missed most of 2011 while recovering from Tommy John surgery before then fracturing his elbow. Antonetti added that he's not sure at this point whether the 23-year-old's future is in the rotation or the bullpen.

Tue Dec 6 201115:16Indians designate Rondon for assignment
Indians designated RHP Hector Rondon for assignment.
Rondon has a fractured elbow and is expected to miss five-to-seven months. The 22-year-old right-hander is considered an intriguing prospect, but he continues to battle injuries. The native of Venezuela had successful Tommy John surgery in 2010 and returned in September for a few token appearances on the farm prior to season's end. He may pique some team's interest on the waiver wire if they are inclined to be patient with his rehab.

Fri Nov 18 201115:11Hector Rondon moves to bullpen
The Indians plan to use Hector Rondon out of the bullpen in 2012.
Rondon made it back for two rehab outings late in the year after recovering from Tommy John surgery. It's not clear if this will be a permanent move or if they just want to keep his innings down in his first full season back from the operation. Rondon could be an option for the Indians bullpen at some point in 2012.

Thu Aug 26 201014:10Indians prospect RHP Hector Rondon has TJ
Top Indians pitching prospect Hector Rondon had successful Tommy John surgery on Wednesday.
Dr. James Andrews performed the surgery. The Indians were trying to avoid the surgery by placing Rondon on a rest-and-rehab plan for the past three months. After a complete lack of news, this is somewhat surprising, but hopefully the prospect will regain the strikeout punch, paired with the strong control, that made him an interesting riser in the system. The secondary numbers have always looked good for him, but he's had trouble impressing scouts, and now he's injured. File away for 2013.

Thu May 13 201016:59Indians place Rondon on Triple-A DL
Indians pitching prospect Hector Rondon has been placed on the Triple-A disabled list with right forearm tightness.
The injury is far from serious and he's only expected to miss one or two turns through the rotation. Rondon, regarded as a fairly decent prospect, is 1-3 with an 8.53 ERA in seven starts this season at Triple-A Columbus and has surrendered 12 home runs in 31 2/3 innings. Perhaps the rest will help.
