Wed Apr 2 201423:28Ruiz has a two-hit day against the Rangers
Carlos Ruiz, hitting out of the second slot in the lineup, went 2-for-4 against the Rangers on Wednesday.

Carlos Ruiz has received an exemption to use Adderall in 2014.
Ruiz served a 25-game suspension at the start of last season for using the very same drug, but now he'll be able to use it without penalty. That's roughly 10 percent of major league players.

Wed Nov 13 201316:23Rockies have 'moved on' from Carlos Ruiz
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal says the Rockies have "moved on" from free agent catcher Carlos Ruiz.
Ruiz supposedly has a two-year, $20 million offer on the table, and the Rockies aren't willing to beat that number. Colorado is looking to upgrade defensively from power-hitting catcher Wilin Rosario, who will likely see more time at first base and in right field next season. The Red Sox, Blue Jays and Phillies are among the teams with reported interest in the 34-year-old Ruiz.

Tue Nov 12 201316:06Rockies won't top $20 million for Carlos Ruiz
Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports the Rockies aren't willing to top $20 million for Carlos Ruiz.
Ruiz's agent is telling teams that the veteran catcher has a two-year, $20 million offer on the table. If that's true, he would be wise to accept it. The Rockies are open to a two-year deal with Ruiz that includes an option for 2016, according to Sherman, but the guaranteed money will remain under the $20 million plateau. The Phillies, Blue Jays and Red Sox are also thought to have interest in Ruiz.

Carlos Ruiz's agent has told at least one team that his client has a two-year, $20 million offer.
Troy Renck of the Denver Post reported Tuesday that the Rockies have made an offer to Ruiz within the past 48 hours, but it's unclear whether the two-year, $20 million offer is from them. Either way, it may be too good of an offer to pass up. The Phillies, Blue Jays, and Red Sox are among the other clubs who reportedly have interest.

Tue Nov 12 201314:23Report: Rockies make offer to Carlos Ruiz
Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports that the Rockies made an offer to Carlos Ruiz over the past 48 hours.
Renck suspects that the Rockies may have to overpay in dollars or years to get Ruiz to bite, especially with the Phillies, Blue Jays and Red Sox also in the mix. If the Rockies are able to sign him, Renck speculates that Wilin Rosario would likely move to right field, while also seeing playing time at first base and behind the plate.

Sun Nov 10 201316:33Rockies plan to make offer to Carlos Ruiz
Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports that the Rockies will make an offer to free agent Carlos Ruiz, though it's unclear if they are willing to offer more than a two-year pact.
Should the Rockies succeed in signing the veteran backstop, Wilin Rosario would adjust to more of a utility role, seeing time at first base and in right field as well as behind the dish where he'd be mentored by the defensive whiz. Ruiz has been mentioned as a possibility for the Red Sox, and there's still a strong possibility of him returning to the Phillies.

Sat Nov 9 201311:32Red Sox could have interest in Carlos Ruiz
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports indicates that the Red Sox are a team to "keep an eye on" for free agent catcher Carlos Ruiz.
Rosenthal notes that while the Red Sox have expressed interest in Brian McCann already, perhaps a short-term deal with Ruiz would make more sense. The 34-year-old backstop hit .268/.320/.368 with five homers and 37 RBI in 92 games with the Phillies this season.

Fri Nov 8 201309:07Phillies won't wait on Carlos Ruiz
Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro said the club will not wait long to address their catcher vacancy this offseason.
The Phils want to bring back Carlos Ruiz, but they will not wait on him if his free agency drags on like Jimmy Rollins' did in the winter of 2011. "I can assure you if it takes similar as long [to get a deal done], there will be very little chance of bringing Chooch back," Amaro said. "We can't afford to miss out on other opportunities." Brian McCann, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Dioner Navarro and John Buck are fellow free agent catchers that the Phillies might consider.

The Phillies will not make Carlos Ruiz a qualifying offer.

Mon Nov 4 201309:25Rockies expected to pursue FA Carlos Ruiz
According to Troy Renck of the Denver Post, the Rockies will pursue free agent catcher Carlos Ruiz.
Ruiz is a superb defender and could serve as a mentor to young catcher Wilin Rosario, who is great with the bat but has struggled behind the plate. Rosario is expected to see more time at first base and in right field in 2014. Colorado also has some interest in free agent catcher Brian McCann, but he is likely to command one of the largest contracts on the market this winter.

Tue Sep 24 201320:08Phils want to bring back Carlos Ruiz for 2014
Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro said Tuesday that he would like to re-sign impending free agent Carlos Ruiz.
Ruiz missed the first 25 games of the season due to a PED suspension and then slumped for a while after returning. He's been hot at the dish of late, though, batting .301 with 12 doubles, four home runs and 26 RBI in 41 games since August 2. "We'd like to bring him back," Amaro said. "He knows we'd like to bring him back. We'll see what happens. It wouldn't be the first free agent [we've had]. . I'd like to have as much balance [in the lineup] as we can, we haven't been very good against left-handers. It's well documented."

Fri Sep 13 201322:15Ruiz has two hits, RBI in loss to Nationals
Carlos Ruiz went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in Friday's loss to the Nationals.
Ruiz contin£es to swing a hot bat. The 34-year-old is hitting .348 with four home runs and 20 RBI in 34 games since the start of August and should be owned in two-catcher mixed fantasy leagues right now. The late-season surge should help his chances of landing a nice contract in free agency this winter.
